  • A new design method of microstrip wide band VHF tunable bandpass filters using varacter diodes is presented. In the proposed filter both the input and output ports are coupled through capacitors, and an open micro-strip line is inserted between the coupled line in order to obtain the desired degree of coupling. The optimized filter responseses for the frequency range of 220-404MHz by TOUCH-STONE are compared with the measured ones.

  • 1.55 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 파장 대역에서 동작하는 파장가변 단일 주파수 레이저는 WDM 통신 시스템, 광섬유 센서, 분광학 분야에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 특히 어븀첨가 광섬유 레이저로 파장가변 단일 주파수 레이저를 구현하면 선폭이 가늘고, 세기 잡음이 작고, 출력 세기가 크다는 장점이 있기 때문에 많은 연구가 있어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 음향광학 대역투과 필터 (acousto-optic tunable bandpass filter, AOTBF)와 광섬유 흡수 격자를 사용하는 선형공진기 형태의 파장가변 단일 주파수 광섬유 레이저에 대해서 제안하고 구현하였다.   • A magnetic-field tunable 2.4 GHz microwave bandpass filter having insertion loss < -5dB on an FR4 substrate with the flaky magnetic material was designed and characterized. The tunability in the designed bandpass filter was achieved by adhering soft magnetic materials on top of the device. This soft magnetic material can be composed of ferromagnetic substance or ferrimagnetic substance. The performance of the designed bandpass filter under its influence is investigated. The frequency offset ratio changes over 30 %. There is over 20 % change in the center frequency towards the lower frequency region due to this application. These magnetic material layers achieved the center frequency shift and bandwidth extension without actually changing the original structure of the device.

  • A tunable band-pass filter of fiber Bragg gratings incorporating the Sagnac loop interferometer configuration is presented. The proposed band-pass filter with extinction ratio 20 dB has practical advantages in terms of price and performance in comparison with the conventional band-pass filter using a circulator.

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple tunable photonic microwave band-pass filter with high resolution using a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) and an optical time-delay line. The RSOA is used as a gain medium for generating cross-gain modulation (XGM) effect as well as an optical source. The optical source provides narrow spectral width by self-injection locking the RSOA in conjunction with a partial reflection filter with specific center wavelength. Then, when the RSOA is operated in the saturation region and the modulated recursive signal is injected into the RSOA, the recursive signal is inversely copied to the injection locked optical source due to the XGM effect. Also, the tunability of the passband of the proposed microwave filter is shown by controlling an optical time-delay line in a recursive loop.

  • We have demonstrated a tunable Inter based on an asymmetric directional coupler made of a side-polished polarization maintaining fiber coupled with a polymer planar waveguide. The thermo-optic effects of the polymer planar waveguide induced by a micro-strip heater placed on the top layer of the device leads to shift of resonance wavelength of the coupler. The fabricated device exhibited wide tunable range exceeding 230 nm with 720 ㎽ of applied electrical power.

  • A wavelength-selective reflector, composed of a double-ring-resonator add/drop filter and a loop-back mirror at the drop port to be used for a hybrid-integrated tunable laser is designed and fabricated. High-index-contrast polymer waveguide is used to realize a compact device as small as $2mm{\times}0.4mm$. The radii of the rings are slightly different from each other to obtain a wide wavelength tuning via a vernier effect. Peak reflectivity is measured to be 52% for TE mode and polarization-dependent wavelength shift is 0.95 nm. The tuning range is measured to be about 42 nm for applied current as small as 46 mA.

  • In this paper, a novel notch resonator is proposed based on Rectangular Split Ring Resonator (RRSS) element. We represented the electrical characteristics for R-SRR elements coupled with microstrip line, and measured result is compared with electromagnetic simulation (HFSS) result. We also solved equivalent circuit for R-SRR element, and also discussed influences of change structural parameters of R-SRR. The size of R-SRR is the most important parameters for frequency tuning. Also we can make tunable resonator form the basic structure. This novel resonator can apply to design of tunable bandpass filter and voltage control oscillator.

  • In this study, the filter was designed for tuning center frequency and fabricated using ($Sr,Ba)TiO_3$ ferroelectrics and $YBa_2CuO_7$ high temperature superconductor thin film. The best result in figure of merit was 35 when the $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$ thin film deposition temperature was $600^{\circ}C$, the post anneal condition was $600^{\circ}C$, 10min in 1atm, $O_2$. When using $20{\mu}m$ IDC pattern gap. The higher tunability was obtained than using $30{\mu}m$ pattern gap.
