  • A general solution to the field equations of homogeneous isotropic generalized thermoelastic diffusion with two relaxation times (Green and Lindsay theory) has been obtained using the Fourier transform. Assuming the disturbances to be harmonically time.dependent, the transformed solution is obtained in the frequency domain. The application of a time harmonic concentrated and distributed loads have been considered to show the utility of the solution obtained. The transformed components of displacement, stress, temperature distribution and chemical potential distribution are inverted numerically, using a numerical inversion technique. Effect of diffusion on the resulting expressions have been depicted graphically for Green and Lindsay (G-L) and coupled (C-T) theories of thermoelasticity.

  • This work deals with the two-dimensional deformation in a homogeneous isotropic nonlocal magneto-thermoelastic solid with two temperatures under the effects of inclined load at different inclinations. The mathematical model has been formulated by subjecting the bounding surface to a concentrated load. The Laplace and Fourier transform techniques have been used for obtaining the solution to the problem in transformed domain. The expressions for nonlocal thermal stresses, displacements and temperature are obtained in the physical domain using a numerical inversion technique. The effects of nonlocal parameter, rotation and inclined load in the physical domain are depicted and illustrated graphically. The results obtained in this paper can be useful for the people who are working in the field of nonlocal thermoelasticity, nonlocal material science, physicists and new material designers. It is found that there is a significant difference due to presence and absence of nonlocal parameter.

  • In this work, we present a theoretical framework to study the thermovisco-elastic responses of homogeneous, isotropic and perfectly conducting medium subjected to inclined load. Based on recently developed generalized thermoelasticity theory with fractional order strain, the two-dimensional governing equations are obtained in the context of generalized magnetothermo-viscoelasticity theory without energy dissipation. The Kelvin-Voigt model of linear viscoelasticity is employed to describe the viscoelastic nature of the material. The resulting formulation of the field equations is solved analytically in the Laplace and Fourier transform domain. On the application of inclined load at the surface of half-space, the analytical expressions for the normal displacement, strain, temperature, normal stress and tangential stress are derived in the joint-transformed domain. To restore the fields in physical domain, an appropriate numerical algorithm is used for the inversion of the Laplace and Fourier transforms. Finally, we have demonstrated the effect of magnetic field, viscosity, mechanical relaxation time, fractional order parameter and time on the physical fields in graphical form for copper material. Some special cases have also been deduced from the present investigation.

  • Flow field and near-field noise of a centrifugal fan has been studied with an efrcient compressible method and STAR-CD. The flow field of the centrifugal fan is assumed two-dimensional. Most of the compressible studies has been done by inviscid solver because viscous simulation shows little difference. The near field noise is estimated in term s of sound pressure level in frequency domain transformed from the computed pressure fluctuations using FFT. The simulation has been done on various design elements such as impeller blade shapes, the number of blades and cut-off clearance. The comparison shows that the number of blades has a significant effect on near-field noise without losing aerodynamic performance.

  • A method for the analysis of wave scattering in 3-D elastic full space is developed by means of the coupled boundary-volume integral equation, which takes into account the effects of both the boundary of inclusions and the uctuation of the wave field. The wavenumber domain formulation is used to construct the Krylov subspace by means of FFT. In order to achieve the wavenumber domain formulation, the boundary-volume integral equation is transformed into the volume integral equation. The formulation is also focused on this transform and its numerical implementation. Several numerical results clarify the accuracy and effectiveness of the present method for scattering analysis.

  • The present study is concerned with the thermoelastic interactions in a two dimensional homogeneous, transversely isotropic thermoelastic solid with new modified couple stress theory without energy dissipation and with two temperatures in frequency domain. The time harmonic sources and Hankel transform technique have been employed to find the general solution to the field equations.Concentrated normal force, normal force over the circular region, thermal point source and thermal source over the circular region have been taken to illustrate the application of the approach. The components of displacements, stress, couple stress and conductive temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. The resulting quantities are obtained in the physical domain by using numerical inversion technique. Numerically simulated results are depicted graphically to show the effect of angular frequency on the resulted quantities.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient vehicle detection and classification algorithm for an electronic toll collection, which is based on shadow robust vehicle presence test. In order to improve the performance of vehicle presence test, we use correlation coefficients between wavelet transformed input and reference images, which takes advanage of textural similarity. We compare the performance of the vehicle presence test with those of some conventional approaches that use variance of frame difference. Experimental results from field test show that the proposed vehicl detection and classification algorithm performs well even under abrupt intensity change due to the characteristics of sensor and occurrence of shadow.

  • The present problem is concerned with the study of deformation of micropolar thermoelastic medium with voids under the influence of various sources acting on the plane surface. The analytic expressions of displacement components, force stress, couple stress, change in volume fraction field and temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain for Lord-Shulman (L-S) theory of thermoelasticity after applying the integral transforms. A numerical inversion technique has been applied to obtain the solution in the physical domain. The numerical results are presented graphically. Some useful particular cases have also been deduced.
