  • Most researches of transforming sequential programs into parallel programs have been based on the loop structure transformation method. However, most programs have implicit interprocedure parallelism. This paper suggests a way of extracting parallelism from the loops with procedure calls using the data dependency elimination method. Most parallelization of the loop with procedure calls have been conducted for extracting parallelism from the uniform code. In this paper, we propose interprocedural transformation, which can be apply to both uniform and nonuniform code. We show the examples of uniform, nonuniform, and complex code parallelization. We then evaluated the performance of the various transformation methods using the CRAY-T3E system. The comparison results show that the proposed algorithm out-performs other conventional methods.

  • This paper proposes a transformation-based approach to design constraint-based analyses for Java at a coarser granularity. In this approach, we design a less or equally precise but more efficient version of an original analysis by transforming the original construction rules into new ones. As applications of this rule transformation, we provide two instances of analysis design by rule-transformation. The first one designs a sparse version of class analysis for Java and the second one deals with a sparse exception analysis for Java. Both are designed based on method-level, and the sparse exception analysis is shown to give the same information for every method as the original analysis.

  • Based on reflected and transmitted waves by a single step bottom, a new model of scatterer method is constructed which can be used to calculate wave transformation over a multi-step topography. The approximate results are tested by comparison with the more accurate results obtained from EFEM presented by Kirby and Dalrymple(1983). In the case of plane-wave approximation, solutions of the scatterer method and the EFEM are the same. Results obtained by the scatterer method with non-propagating modes are much better, in terms of phase for the calculated reflection and transmission coefficients, than those by plane-wave approximation. As the effect of non-propagating modes decreases, solutions of the scatterer method become closer to those of the EFEM.

  • The color space transformation to link device-dependent color spaces and device-independent color spaces is essential for device characterization and cross-media color reproduction. There are various color conversion methods such as regression, 3D interpolation with LUT(look-up table), and neural network. In the color transformation with these methods, the conversion accuracy is essentially based on the sample data to be exploited for device characterization. In conventional method, color samples are uniformly selected in device-dependent space such as CMY and RGB. However, distribution of these color samples is very non-uniform in device-independent color space such as CIEL*a*b*. Accordingly, the conversion error in device-independent color space is irregular according to the distribution of the samples. In this paper, a color sampling method based on equi-visual perception is proposed to obtain approximate uniform color samples in CIEL*a*b* space. In order to evaluate transformation accuracy of proposed method, color space transformations are simulated using regression, 3D interpolation with LUT and neural network techniques, respectively.

  • An Electric Vehicle (EV) is operated with the electric energy of a battery in place of conventional fossil fuels. Thus, a suitable charging infrastructure must be provided to expand the use of electric vehicles. Because the battery of an EV must be charged to operate the EV, expanding the number of EVs will have a significant influence on the power supply and demand. Therefore, to maintain the balance of power supply and demand, it is important to be able to predict the numbers of charging EVs and monitor the events that occur in the distribution system. In this paper, we predict the hourly charging rate of electric vehicles using transformation matrix, which can describe all behaviors such as resting, charging, and driving of the EVs. Simulation with transformation matrix in a specific region provides statistical results using the Monte-Carlo Method.

  • A voice transformation (VT) method that can make the utterance of a source speaker mimic that of a target speaker is described. Speaker individuality transformation is achieved by altering three feature parameters, which include the LPC cepstrum, pitch period and gain. The main objective of this study involves construction of an optimal sequence of features selected from a target speaker's database, to maximize both the correlation probabilities between the transformed and the source features and the likelihood of the transformed features with respect to the target model. A set of two-pass conversion rules is proposed, where the feature parameters are first selected from a database then the optimal sequence of the feature parameters is then constructed in the second pass. The conversion rules were developed using a statistical approach that employed a maximum likelihood criterion. In constructing an optimal sequence of the features, a hidden Markov model (HMM) was employed to find the most likely combination of the features with respect to the target speaker's model. The effectiveness of the proposed transformation method was evaluated using objective tests and informal listening tests. We confirmed that the proposed method leads to perceptually more preferred results, compared with the conventional methods.

  • This paper proposes a transformation method of the zero moment point (ZMP) and the center of mass (CoM) from one walking pattern to other patterns by considering the structure of a robot or walking situations in real time. In general, a humanoid robot has own structure characteristics like height and mass. The structure characteristics make the given CoM/ZMP walking pattern of one human or one humanoid robot to be difficult to apply to other robot directly. For this purpose, we analyze the characteristics of walking patterns according to the step length, duration of walking support phase and the CoM height by using the cart-table model as the simple humanoid robot model. A transformation equation is derived from the analyzation and it is verified with simulation.

  • Hot stamping, which is the hot pressing of special steel sheet using a cold die, can combine ease of shaping with high strength mechanical properties due to the hardening effect of rapid quenching. In this paper, a thermo-mechanical analysis of hot stamping using the finite element method in conjunction with phase transformations was performed in order to investigate the plastic deformation behavior, temperature history, and mechanical properties of the stamped car part. We also conducted a fully coupled thermo-mechanical analysis during the stamping and rapid quenching process to obtain the mechanical properties with the consideration of the effects of plastic deformation and phase transformation on the temperature histories at each point in the part. The finite element analysis could provide key information concerning the temperature histories and the sheet mechanical properties when the phase transformation is properly considered. Such an analysis can also be used to determine the effect of cyclic cooling on the tooling.

  • In this paper, we have studied on the IIR digital filters design using Elliptic functions. In process of transformation to digital fouctions from analos Elliptic functions, Bilinear z transformation method has been silized. Designing of digital filter using the Bilinear z transformation the problems of aliasing can be avoidedm whereas the frequency distrotion is generated. The transformation form analog function to digital function is not equal in the region of the cut off frequency response caused by this effect. Avoiding the problem of this effect, we have used proewarping method. Finally, the magnitude characteristics of digital filters are compared with its of analog filters by computer simulation. The results have shown that the magnitude characteristics of digital filters by the prewarping method have made more remarkable improvement than its of analog filters.

  • This paper proposes a method of generating XSLT scripts, which support the fast transformation of XML documents, given one-to-one matching relationships between leaf nodes of XML schemas. The proposed method consists of two steps: computing matchings between cardinality nodes and generating XSLT scripts. Matching relationships between cardinality nodes are computed by using Proposed lexical and structural similarities. Based on the cardinality node matching relationships, an XSLT script is generated. Experimental results show that the proposed method has generated XSLT scripts that support the faster transformation of XML documents, compared with previous works.
