Type A LPG Carrier is the ship using the low temperature independent cargo tank separate from the hull, which has various support structures for laying independent tanks on the hull. In this paper, the direct strength analysis for the support structures has been performed through the direct load analysis, load transfer, stress analysis and strength assessment. Also, a rational modeling method of support structures has been proposed to obtain the dynamic load between the hull and the separate tank.

It is essential to develop a large capacity, non-contact nondestructive inspection system having high reliability to investigate repaired and strengthened structures. Nowadays, an infrared camera is widely used in non-contact nondestructive inspection system. Because an infrared camera is sensitive to the surrounding environment, it is necessary to improve a sensitivity of thermal image information and a relationship between defects and thermal image information. In this papaer, presented is an optimum void detection chart for the optimum conditions to detect infrared rays from inside and outside defects like voids and cracks in concrete structures using extensive computer simulation. Sensitivity studies are performed with respect to variables influencing the temperature distribution such as heating temperature, heating time, and geometries of defect, etc. It may be stated that it could be successfully utilized for the non-contact nondestructive inspection system to detect defects in concrete structures.
There are many studies about submerged structures or porous wave absorbers to decrease damage of coast and structures. Submerged structures and porous wave absorber are decreasing energy of incoming wave by reflecting or dissipation with changing depth or with porous rubble mound. This study addresses the reflection and transmission of long wave from a trapezoidal breakwater and a vertical porous wave absorber at the same time. A systematic shape transfer is derived to determine wave reflection and transmission. And periodic solutions are matched at the slope and the front face of the absorber by assuming continuity of pressure and mass. The transmission coefficient is determined as a function of parameters describing the incoming waves, transmitting waves through the trapezoidal breakwater and the absorber characteristics.
While most of researches on system identification of building structures are aimed at finding modal parameters first and identifying the corresponding physical parameters by using the transformation in terms of transfer functions and cross spectra, etc., direct physical parameter system identification methods have been proposed recently. Due to the problem of signal/noise (SN) ratios, the previous methods are restricted mostly to earthquake records or forced vibration data. In this paper, a theoretical investigation is performed on the influence of wind disturbances on stiffness identification of building structures using micro-tremor at limited floors. It is concluded that the influence of wind disturbances on stiffness identification of building structures using micro-tremor at limited floors is restricted in case of using time-series data for low-rise buildings and does not cause serious problems.

AU(A plus U-shaped) composite beam was developed for reducing the story height in the residential buildings, and saving the cosrtuction cost of floor structures. Structural performance and economic feasibility of the composite beam have been sufficiently approved through the structural experiments and the analytical studies. Fire safety for the practical application of the composite beam has also been verified through the fire resistance tests and the heat transfer analyses. In this study 2-points bending tests were performed on the four specimens already tested for fire resistance to evaluate the residual bending strength of AU composite beam after fire accident. The same bending test was performed on the one fresh specimen having the same section and span of the specimens for practically comparative study.

Usually triangular patches are used to transfer geometric shape in Rapid Prototyping CAM system. STL, a list of triangles, is de facto standard in RP industry. Because STL does not have topological infoma- tion, it can cause errornous results. So STL should be verified before using. After adding support structures to anchor the part to the platform and to prevent sagging or distortion, slicing and layer by layer manufactur- ing process are done. But triangular patch is surface model and cannot provide sufficient information on geometry in the above processes. So, geometric modeling is necessary in verifying STL, adding support structures and slicing. It is natural that triangle based modeling is the best when tringular patches are used as input. Considering support structures, solid and faces coexist in RP process. Therefore non-manifold modeler is required. In this study, triangle based non-manifold geometric modeling is proposed for RP sys- tem consistent with STL input.

The present study examined the effects of various guide fin structures and boundary parameters on the thermal performance of heat exchangers used in heat recovery thermoelectric generators. The heat transfer rate and pressure drop of the heat exchangers without fins, with circular fins, with triangular fins, and with combined circular and triangular fins were simulated numerically using ANSYS 19.1 commercial code to confirm the effect of the guide fin structures. The heat transfer rate of the heat exchanger with combined fins was 27.0%, 5.2%, and 1.5% higher than those without fins, with circular fins, and with triangular fins, respectively. The pressure drop characteristic of the heat exchanger with the combined fins was 28.3% higher than that without fins but 9.2% and 10.5% lower than those with circular fins and with triangular fins, respectively. The heat exchanger with combined fins as the optimal model showed the highest heat transfer rate of 5664.9 W and pressure drop of 1454.02 Pa for highest hot gas temperature, maximum flow rates of hot gas and coolant, and lowest coolant temperature.
Since the discovery of fullerenes as a class of nanostructure compounds, many potential applications have been suggested for their unusual structures and properties. The isolated pentagon rule (IPR) states that all pentagonal carbon rings are isolated in the most stable fullerene. Fullerenes $C_n$ are a class of spherical carbon allotrope group with unique properties. Electron transfer between fullerenes and other molecules is thought to involve the transfer of electrons between the molecules surrounding the fullerene cage. One class of electron transfer molecules is the methanofullerene derivatives ([6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), 4-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-[6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$-butyric acid methyl ester (p-EHO-PCBM), and 4-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-[6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$-butyric acid (p-EHO-PCBA), 10-12). It has been determined that $C_{60}$ does not obey IPR. Supramolecular complexes 1-9 and 10-12 are shown to possess a previously unreported host.guest interaction for electron transfer processes. The unsaturated, cis-geometry, thiocrown ethers, (1-9) (described as [X-UT-Y], where X and Y indicate the numbers of carbon and sulfur atoms, respectively), are a group of crown ethers that display interesting physiochemical properties in the light of their conformational restriction compared with a corresponding saturated system, as well as the sizes of their cavities. Topological indices have been successfully used to construct mathematical methods that relate structural data to various chemical and physical properties. To establish a good relationship between the structures of 1-9 with 10-12, a new index is introduced, ${\mu}_{cs}$. This index is the ratio of the sum of the number of carbon atoms ($n_c$) and the number of sulfur atoms ($n_s$) to the product of these two numbers for 1-9. In this study, the relationships between this index and oxidation potential ($^{ox}E_1$) of 1-9, as well as the first to third free energies of electron transfer (${\Delta}G_{et(n)}$, for n = 1-3, which is given by the Rehm-Weller equation) between 1-9 and PCBM, p-EHO-PCBM, and p-EHO-PCBA (10-12) as [X-UT-Y]@R(where R is the adduct PCBM, p-EHO-PCBM, and p-EHO-PCBA group) (13-15) supramolecular complexes are presented and investigated.

In magnetic resonance-based wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, frequency splitting phenomenon, in which power transfer efficiency (PTE) decreases seriously as resonators are close to each other, is the problem that we should address for reliable power transfer in short distance. In this paper, we present WPT systems using an equivalent circuit model and analyze PTE and marginal coupling coefficient ($k_{split}$) where the frequency splitting occurs. In addition, we perform circuit-level simulations using Advanced Design System, and show that the achievable PTE is different for the structures of resonators when k>$k_{split}$. We confirm that higher PTE can be ensured as k increases in the case of identical resonators, while PTE is degraded as k increases in the case of non-identical resonators. Therefore, in short distance, in which k>$k_{split}$, it is more efficient for achieving reliable PTE to use identical resonators rather than non-identical resonators.
Purpose: The architectural structures in the engineering field include more than one material, and the heat transfer through these multiple materials becomes complicated. More or less, the analytic solutions obtained by the hand calculation can provide the limited information of heat transfer phenomena. However, the engineers have generally been forced to obtain reliable results than those of the hand calculation. The numerical calculation such as a finite volume methods with the unstructured grid system is only the suitable means of the analysis for the complex and arbitrary domains that consists of multiple materials. In this study, a new numerical code is developed to provide temperature distributions in the multiple material domains, and the results of this code are compared with the validation cases in ISO10211. Method: Finite volume methods with an unstructured grid is employed. In terms of numerical methods, the heat transfer conduction coefficient is not defined on the surface of the cell between different material cells. The heat transfer coefficient is properly defined to accurately mimic the heat transfer through the surface. The boundary conditions of heat flux considering radiation or heat convection are also developed. Result: The comparison between numerical results and ISO 10211 cases. We are confirmed that the numerical method provides the proper temperature distributions, and the heat transfer equation and its boundary conditions are developed properly.
