Immunity Test for Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Considering Power Transfer Efficiency of the Bulk Current Injection Method

  • The bulk current injection (BCI) and direct power injection (DPI) method have been established as the standards for the electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) test. Because the BCI test uses a probe to inject magnetically coupled electromagnetic (EM) noise, there is a significant difference between the power supplied by the radio frequency (RF) generator and that transferred to the integrated circuit (IC). Thus, the immunity estimated by the forward power cannot show the susceptibility of the IC itself. This paper derives the real injected power at the failure point of the IC using the power transfer efficiency of the BCI method. We propose and mathematically derive the power transfer efficiency based on equivalent circuit models representing the BCI test setup. The BCI test is performed on I/O buffers with and without decoupling capacitors, and their immunities are evaluated based on the traditional forward power and the real injected power proposed in this work. The real injected power shows the actual noise power level that the IC can tolerate. Using the real injected power as an indicator for the EMS test, we show that the on-chip decoupling capacitor enhances the EM noise immunity.

  • The essential requirements of neural network for human skill transfer are fast convergence, high storage capacity, and strong noise immunity. Bidirectional associative memory(BAM) suffering from low storage capacity and abundance of spurious memories is rarely used for skill transfer application though it has fast and wide association characteristics for visual data. This paper suggests generalization of classical BAM structure and new learning algorithm which uses supervised learning to guarantee perfect recall starting with correlation matrix. The generalization is validated to accelerate convergence speed, to increase storage capacity, to lessen spurious memories, to enhance noise immunity, and to enable multiple association using simulation work.

근교계 nude 및 DS 마우스 폐강삼출세포와 혈청의 간흡충 감염에 대한 면역이입의 시도 (Attempts to Transfer Immunity against Clonorchis in Nude and DS Mice)

  • 간흡충 피낭유충의 경구감염 또는 간흡충 성충의 대사산물의 피내주사로 감작한 근교계 nude 및 DS 마우스의 복강삼출세포와 혈청이 간흡충 감염에 대한 면역을 동승(syngeneic) 마우스에 이입하는지 여부를 구명하기 위해 대조군 마우스에서의 EpG, 부하충체수 및 모장당 plaque 형성세포수를 기준으로 감작군에서의 그 성적과 비교하였다. Challenge 감염후 EpG의 변동은 감작군과 비감작 대조군 마우스와 nude 및 DS 마우스와의 사이에 유의한 차를 인정할 수 없었다. 간흡충 성충의 회수률에서는 감작군과 비감작 대조군 사이에 유의적 차를 인정할 수 없었으나 nude 마우스는 DS 마우스에 비하여 다소 높은 회수률을 나타내었다. 비장에서 plaque 형성세포는 복강 삼출세포 $5{\times}10^5$와 Group II DS 마우스의 혈청 0.1 ml를 복강에 감작한 제4군에서만 소수 검출할 수 있었다. 이상의 성적으로 미루어 보아 세포성 면역계에 결손이 있다고 알려진 근교계 nude 및 DS의 복강삼출세포와 혈청에 의해서는 간흡충에 대한 면역이 이전되지 않음을 확인하였다.

Dynamic lipopolysaccharide transfer cascade to TLR4/MD2 complex via LBP and CD14

  • Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) together with MD2, one of the key pattern recognition receptors for a pathogen-associated molecular pattern, activates innate immunity by recognizing lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Gram-negative bacteria. Although LBP and CD14 catalyze LPS transfer to the TLR4/MD2 complex, the detail mechanisms underlying this dynamic LPS transfer remain elusive. Using negative-stain electron microscopy, we visualized the dynamic intermediate complexes during LPS transfer-LBP/LPS micelles and ternary CD14/LBP/LPS micelle complexes. We also reconstituted the entire cascade of LPS transfer to TLR4/MD2 in a total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscope for a single molecule fluorescence analysis. These analyses reveal longitudinal LBP binding to the surface of LPS micelles and multi-round binding/unbinding of CD14 to single LBP/LPS micelles via key charged residues on LBP and CD14. Finally, we reveal that a single LPS molecule bound to CD14 is transferred to TLR4/MD2 in a TLR4-dependent manner. These discoveries, which clarify the molecular mechanism of dynamic LPS transfer to TLR4/MD2 via LBP and CD14, provide novel insights into the initiation of innate immune responses.

Estimation of Transferred Power from a Noise Source to an IC with Forwarded Power Characteristics

  • This paper proposes an accurate approach for predicting transferred power from a noise source to integrated circuits based on the characteristics of the power transfer network. A power delivery trace on a package and a printed circuit board are designed to transmit power from an external source to integrated circuits. The power is demonstrated between an injection terminal on the edge of the printed circuit board and integrated circuits, and the power transfer function of the power distribution network is derived. A two-tier calibration is applied to the test, and scattering parameters of the network are measured for the calculation of the power transfer function. After testing to obtain the indispensable parameters, the real received and tolerable power of the integrated circuits can be easily achieved. Our proposed estimation method is an enhancement of the existing the International Electrotechnical Commission standard for precise prediction of the electromagnetic immunity of integrated circuits.

세포에 의한 아메바성 수막뇌염에 대한 피동면역의 전달 (Passive Immunity by Splenocyte Transfer against Amebic Meningoeneephalitis in Mice)

  • Naegleria fowleri로 면역된 마우스 비장세포를 이입(이입)함으로써 원발성 아메바성 수막 뇌염의 발생을 방어할 수 있는지 즉 방어면역을 피동적으로 전달할 수 있는지를 관찰하였다. 무균 배양한 N. fowleri, ITMAP 359 영 양형 7×l04개를 생후 6주된 ICR 마우스에 감염시켰다. 살아있는 N. fowleri 영양형 106개씩을 1주일 간격으로 3회 복강내로 주입시켜 면역시켰다. 면역시킨 마우스의 비장을 적출하여 107개의 비장세포가 함유된 부유액을 마우스 복강내로 주입시키고 3일 후 N, fowleri를 감염시켰다. 비장세포에 Con. A와 lipopolysaccharide(LPS)를 처리한 후 배자발생 정도를 methyl-[3H]-thymidine을 사용하여 측정하였다. N. fowleri를 감염시킨 마우스의 사망률을 보면 정상 비장세포를 주입시킨 실험대조군에서 84%, 면역 비장세포를 주입시킨 실험군에서 72%로서, 정상 대조군에서의 사망률 100%에 비해 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 면역된 비장세포를 주입시킨 실험군에서 LPS를 처리한 비장세포의 배자발생정도는 감염 7일 후 실험대조군이나 정상대조군에 비해 증가되어 있었고, Con. A처리에 의한 배자발생 정도도 감염 7일 후 증가되어 있음을 관찰할 수 있었다. 혈청내 항체가는 감염 12일 후 정상 대조군에 비해 실험군과 실험대조군에서 높았다.

큰갓버섯 추출물의 종양면역 증진 효과 (Enhancement of Anti-tumor Immunity by Administration of Macrolepiota procera Extracts)

  • To examine the potentiation of Macrolepiota procera extracts (MPE-4) to act as adjuvant enhancing the tumor specific anti-tumor immune response, tumor vaccine prepared by boiling (HK vaccine) admixed with MPE-4 and immunized in mice. Vaccination of mice with HK vaccine in combination with MPE-4 resulted in higher inhibition in tumor metastasis compared with the mice of HK vaccine alone treatment against live syngeneic tumor cell challenge. The splenocytes from mice immunized HK vaccine mixed with MPE-4 was able to elicit a stronger cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response as compared with HK vaccine alone. In addition, the splenocytes from MPE-4 admixed HK vaccine immunized mice secreted a higher concentration of Th1 type cytokine such as IFN-${\gamma}$, and GM-CSF. Furthermore, the adoptive transfer of splenocytes from mice immunized HK vaccine and MPE-4 led to a more robust anti-tumour response than the HK vaccine alone. Overall, these results indicate that MPE-4 is a good candidate adjuvant of anti-tumor immune response.

다양한 PCB의 전원 분배 망에서의 PLL의 전자기 내성 검증 (Evaluation of EM Susceptibility of an PLL on Power Domain Networks of Various Printed Circuit Boards)

  • 전자장치의 복잡도 증가와 전원 전압 감소 추세에 따라, 내부 또는 외부에서 발생되는 노이즈에 대한 칩 또는 모듈의 전자기 내성 평가는 필수적이다. 칩 레벨 EMS 표준 시험방법으로 IEC 62132-4의 Direct Power Injection(DPI) 방법이 있지만, 실제 칩 내성은 모듈 상 보드 PDN 구조에 영향 받는다. 이 논문에서는 PLL의 내성을 평가하고 보드의 PDN 구조에 따른 잡음 전달 특성을 비교하였다. 여러 PDN을 만들기 위해 다양한 값의 커패시터들과 LDO 사용 유무 조건이 적용되었다. IC의 전자기 요구사항과 IC 및 보드로 구성된 모듈의 전자기 요구사항 간 불일치를 평가하기 위해, PDN들에 따른 노이즈 전달 특성을 분석하는 것은 강건한 EM 특성을 갖도록 설계하는데 중요한 정보를 줄 수 있음을 보였다. DPI 측정 결과는 LDO 사용에 따라 PLL 저주파 영역의 내성이 크게 개선되었음을 보여주며, DPI에 따른 PLL의 주파수 변화를 TEM cell 스펙트럼 측정으로도 확인 할 수 있었다.

Hens immunized with live attenuated Salmonella strains expressing virulence-associated genes in avian pathogenic Escherichia coli passively transfer maternal antibodies to chicks

  • We investigated whether maternal antibodies (mAbs) elicited by dams immunized with recombinant vaccine candidates against avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) can passively confer protective immunity to chicks. In the present study, pBP244 plasmids carrying selected antigens of APEC were transformed into Salmonella Typhimurium JOL912, which was used as a vaccine candidate against APEC. The hens were immunized with the vaccine candidates using prime or booster doses. The levels of IgG and sIgA specific to the selected antigens increased significantly following prime immunization. To evaluate the persistence of passively transferred mAbs, the levels of IgY and IgA were determined in egg yolks and whites, respectively. The eggs from the immunized group showed consistently increased levels of IgY and IgA until week 16 post-laying (PL) and week 8 PL, respectively, relative to the control group. The presence of mAbs was observed in chicks that hatched from the hens, and titers of plasma IgY were consistently raised in those from the immunized hens by day 14 post-hatching. Further, chicks from the immunized hens were protected from challenge with a virulent APEC strain, whereas those from non-immunized hens showed acute mortality.

Protective Immunity Induced by Systemic and Mucosal Delivery of DNA Vaccine Expressing Glycoprotein B of Pseudorabies Virus

  • A murine model immunized by systemic and mucosal delivery of plasmid DNA vaccine expressing glycoprotein B (pCIgB) of pseudorabies virus (PrV) was used to evaluate both the nature of the induced immunity and protection against a virulent virus. With regard to systemic delivery, the intramuscular (i.m.) immunization with pCIgB induced strong PrV-specific IgG responses in serum but was inefficient in generating a mucosal IgA response. Mucosal delivery through intranasal (i.n.) immunization of pCIgB induced both systemic and mucosal immunity at the distal mucosal site. However, the levels of systemic immunity induced by i.n. immunization were less than those induced by i.m. immunization. Moreover, i.n. genetic transfer of pCIgB appeared to induce Th2-biased immunity compared with systemic delivery, as judged by the ratio of PrV-specific IgG isotypes and Th1- and Th2-type cytokines produced by stimulated T cells. Moreover, the immunity induced by i.n. immunization did not provide effective protection against i.n. challenge of a virulent PrV strain, whereas i.m. immunization produced resistance to viral infection. Therefore, although i.n. immunization was a useful route for inducing mucosal immunity at the virus entry site, i.n. immunization did not provide effective protection against the lethal infection of PrV.
