드론 자율비행 기술 동향 (Survey on Developing Autonomous Micro Aerial Vehicles)

  • As sensors such as Inertial Measurement Unit, cameras, and Light Detection and Rangings have become cheaper and smaller, research has been actively conducted to implement functions automating micro aerial vehicles such as multirotor type drones. This would fully enable the autonomous flight of drones in the real world without human intervention. In this article, we present a survey of state-of-the-art development on autonomous drones. To build an autonomous drone, the essential components can be classified into pose estimation, environmental perception, and obstacle-free trajectory generation. To describe the trend, we selected three leading research groups-University of Pennsylvania, ETH Zurich, and Carnegie Mellon University-which have demonstrated impressive experiment results on automating drones using their estimation, perception, and trajectory generation techniques. For each group, we summarize the core of their algorithm and describe how they implemented those in such small-sized drones. Finally, we present our up to date research status on developing an autonomous drone.

  • 내비게이션 시스템에서 지도 데이터를 최신 정보로 유지하는 것은 중요한 일이다. 그러나 수작업을 통한 갱신은 비용이 많이 소요될 뿐만 아니라 갱신되는 정보를 즉각적으로 반영하기 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 GPS 데이터를 이용하여 자동으로 도로를 생성해주는 시스템에서 가장 중요한 문제 중 하나인 중심 도로를 추출하는 기법에 관하여 살펴보고자 한다. 중심도로를 추출하기 위해서는 클러스터링 시킨 궤적이 필요하지만, 실제 궤적은 클러스터링 되어있지 않다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 최대 중첩구간 탐색과 궤적 클러스터링 과정을 통하여 효과적으로 궤적에 대해 클러스터링 하는 기법을 제안한다. 마지막으로 클러스터링 시킨 궤적에 대하여 가상달리기 기법을 적용하여 중심도로를 추출하였다. 실험 데이터로는 실제 대용량의 강남구, 성남시, 서울시 전체를 지나다니는 택시 GPS 데이터를 수집하여 실험을 하였고, 실험 결과 제안기법이 실제 중심 도로를 추출하는데 안정적이고 효율적인 것을 보였다.

무인전투기 근접 지형추종을 위한 궤적생성 및 유도 항법 (Trajectory Generation, Guidance, and Navigation for Terrain Following of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles)

  • 본 논문에서는 무인전투기의 지형추종을 위한 궤적생성, 유도, 항법 알고리즘을 구현하고 이를 통합하였다. 적 방공망 제압과 같은 위험한 임무를 수행하는 무인전투기는 적의 대공방어망으로부터 생존성을 높이기 위해서 지면을 근접하여 비행하는 지형추종 알고리즘이 필수적으로 요구된다. 무인전투기가 지형추종 비행을 하기 위해서는 경로생성, 유도, 그리고 항법 분야 알고리즘이 통합되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 항법 알고리즘으로 GPS가 교란된 상황을 대비하여 비선형 필터 기반의 지형참조 항법을 사용하였다. 경로생성을 위해 지형추종에 적합한 경로생성 기법으로 보로노이 다이어그램을 이용하여 적의 대공망을 회피하는 수평경로를 생성하고, Cubic Spline 기법을 사용하여 정해진 수평경로 상에서 지면과의 근접비행이 가능한 수직경로를 생성하였다. 유도 알고리즘으로 전방주시점 기반의 유도법칙인 Follow-the-Carrot 기법과 Pure Pursuit 기법을 사용하여 생성된 경로를 추종하게 하였다. 제안한 통합알고리즘의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 수치 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

Temporal Search Algorithm for Multiple-Pedestrian Tracking

  • In this paper, we provide a trajectory-generation algorithm that can identify pedestrians in real time. Typically, the contours for the extraction of pedestrians from the foreground of images are not clear due to factors including brightness and shade; furthermore, pedestrians move in different directions and interact with each other. These issues mean that the identification of pedestrians and the generation of trajectories are somewhat difficult. We propose a new method for trajectory generation regarding multiple pedestrians. The first stage of the method distinguishes between those pedestrian-blob situations that need to be merged and those that require splitting, followed by the use of trained decision trees to separate the pedestrians. The second stage generates the trajectories of each pedestrian by using the point-correspondence method; however, we introduce a new point-correspondence algorithm for which the A* search method has been modified. By using fuzzy membership functions, a heuristic evaluation of the correspondence between the blobs was also conducted. The proposed method was implemented and tested with the PETS 2009 dataset to show an effective multiple-pedestrian-tracking capability in a pedestrian-interaction environment.

지형 회피를 위한 최적 경로점 자동 생성 알고리듬 연구 (A Study on the Algorithm for Automatic Generation of Optimal Waypoint with Terrain Avoidance)

  • 항공기는 저고도에서 임무를 수행할 때, 대공 미사일과 지형 장애물 같은 다양한 위협들에 제약을 받는다. 특히, 항공기는 지면 근처에서 항상 지형과의 충돌 위험을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 이 문제에 효과적으로 대비하기 위하여, 지형 회피가 고려된 비행경로 생성 알고리듬을 개발하였다. 비행경로 생성 알고리듬에서는 먼저 등고선의 그룹화를 통해 경로점을 생성하고, Dijkstra 알고리듬을 이용하여 적절한 경로점 조합을 구성한다. 구성된 경로점 조합에 대해서는 최적제어 이론을 기반으로 한 최적 경로점 유도법칙을 적용하여, 제어에너지를 최소로 하는 최적의 비행경로를 제시한다.

Design of Navigation Environment Generation Module of M&S Software for Integrated Navigation System Performance Evaluation

  • Various navigation systems are integrated with the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to improve navigation performance so that continuous navigation information can be obtained even when navigation performance is degraded or navigation is not available due to the outage of GNSS. Time and cost can be reduced by evaluating performance of the integrated navigation system through Modeling and Simulation (M&S) software prior to the deployment of the integrated navigation system. The measurements of the navigation system should be generated to evaluate performance through of the navigation system M&S software. This paper proposes a method of designing a navigation environment generation module in M&S software of the integrated navigation system. To show applicability of the proposed method to M&S software design of the integrated navigation system, functions are verified through MATLAB. And then visual C++ based M&S software for the integrated navigation system is implemented to check the operation of the navigation environment generation module. The reference trajectory is generated and true measurements of Global Positioning System (GPS), Korea Positioning System (KPS), and enhanced Long range navigation (eLoran) are generated from the reference trajectory. The navigation results obtained from the true measurements are compared with the reference trajectories. The results show that the measurements generated using the design generation module by the proposed method are valid and the navigation environment generation module can be applied to M&S software of the integrated navigation system.

Optimal Trajectory Modeling of Humanoid Robot for Argentina Tango Walking

  • To implement Argentina tango dancer-like walking of the humanoid robot, a new trajectory generation scheme based on particle swarm optimization of the blending polynomial is presented. Firstly, the characteristics of Argentina tango walking are derived from observation of tango dance. Secondly, these are reflected in walking pose conditions and cost functions of particle swarm optimization to determine the coefficients of blending polynomial. For the stability of biped walking, zero moment point and reference trajectory of swing foot are also included in cost function. Thirdly, after tango walking cycle is divided into 3 stages with 2 postures, optimal trajectories of ankles, knees and hip of lower body, which include 6 sagittal and 4 coronal angles, are derived in consequence of optimization. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed scheme is validated by simulating biped walking of humanoid robot with derived trajectories under the 3D Simscape environment.

  • Reference trajectory generation plays a key role in the computer control for accurate position control of machine. Generated trajectories must not only describe the desired tool path accurately, but must also have smooth kinetic profiles in order to maintain higher tracking accuracy, and to avoid exciting the natural modes of the mechanical servo control system. To achieve higher accurate position control, a method of limiting accelerating and decelerating speed data of reference trajectories is proposed to draw the path with an assigned accuracy without any complex operations.

  • Control and trajectory generation of a 7 DOF anthropomorphic robot arm suffer from computational complexity and singularity problem because of numerical inverse kinematics. To deal with such problems, analytical methods for a redundant robot arm have been researched to enhance the performance of inverse kinematics. In this research, we propose an analytical inverse kinematics algorithm for a 7 DOF anthropomorphic robot arm. Using this algorithm, it is possible to generate a trajectory passing through the singular points and intuitively move the elbow without regard to the end-effector pose. Performance of the proposed algorithm was verified by various simulations. It is shown that the trajectory planning using this algorithm provides correct results near the singular points and can utilize redundancy intuitively.

Rotorcraft Waypoint Guidance Design Using SDRE Controller

  • This paper deals with the State-Dependent Riccati Equation (SDRE) Technique for the design of rotorcraft waypoint guidance. To generate the flight trajectory through multiple waypoints, we use the trigonometric spline. The controller design and its validation is based upon a level 2 simulation rotorcraft model and the designed SDRE controller is applied to the trajectory tracking problems. To verify the designed guidance law, the simulation environment of high fidelity rotorcraft model is developed using three independent PCs. This paper focuses on the validation of rotorcraft waypoint guidance law which is designed by using SDRE Controller.
