  • Measuring sensor, equipment, ICT facilities and their software have relatively short life time comparing to constructional structure so that we should exchange or fix them continuously in the process of maintenance and management. In this paper, we propose a novel design of integrated maintenance, management, and measuring monitoring system applying the concept of mobile cloud. For the sake of disaster prevention for constructional structures such as bridge, tunnel, and other traditional buildings in the village of local heritage, we analyze status of these structures in the long term or short term period as well as disaster situations. Collecting data based on mobile cloud and analyzing future expectations based on probabilistic and statistical techniques, we implement our integrated monitoring system for constructional structures to solve these existing problems. Final results of this design and implementation are basically applied to the monitoring system for more than 10,000 structures spread over national land in Korea. In addition, we can specifically apply the monitoring system presented here to a bridge of timber structure in Asan Oeam Village and a traditional house in Andong Hahoe Village to watch them from possible disasters. Total procedure of system design and implementation as well as development of the platform LinkSaaS and application services of monitoring functions implemented on the platform. We prove a good performance of our system by fulfilling TTA authentication test, web accommodation test, and operation test using real measuring data.

  • The objectives of this study are: (1) to compare the satisfaction level between local residents and visitors regarding Jechon Medicinal-Herb Festivals ; (2) to examine methods to improve visitor satisfaction levels concerning Medicinal-Herb Festivals ; and (3) to make proposals to Festival organizers with regarding to developing successful Jechon Medicinal-Herb Festivals. The results from the study are as follows. Firstly, local visitor satisfaction levels were higher than other domestic visitors. Second, festival visitors enjoyed experiencing to the traditional medicine with which they are familiar. So it is necessary to develop more experience programs to increase visitor satisfaction levels. Finally, visitors were more satisfied with their tour when accompanied by guides who were explaining a traditional Medicinal Herb. It suggests that the more knowledgeable guides of traditional medicine, the higher resultant satisfaction levels. The importance of the role of a guide in the festival was reexamined throughout this study.

  • To minimize a negative cognition of the game, recently the game industry has been researched of serious games such as medical game, tutoring game, advertisement and game training simulation game. The development and method of those serious games is far less formalized than other software development and is still in the beginning stages. We will define three types of advertisement games in the paper and propose a serious game development method which is based on traditional activities culture. Also we will explain element technologies and process for developing a serious game and apply a suggested method to YOOT games which is a typical Korea traditional game among several games.

  • Purpose: Gongju is a famous area for chestnuts, which contain various nutrients and phytochemicals. This study aimed to develop gochujang items using Gongju chestnuts and analyze nutritional properties for the best item by sensory evaluation in order to increase marketability of chestnut processed foods. Methods: Gochujang was prepared, and nutrient contents of gochujang were analyzed according to the methods of the food fair by Korea Food Research Institute. Three kinds of gochujang, including general (control)-, dried chestnut powder-, and chestnut syrup- were prepared. Sensory evaluation was performed on three kinds of gochujang by 45 adults, including males and females (20's~60's years of age). Results: Chestnut syrup-gochujang was evaluated as significantly higher than general- or dried chestnut powder-gochujang by sensory evaluation. Thus, nutrition facts were produced for chestnut syrup gochujang. Nutrient contents per 100 g of chestnut syrup gochujang and traditional gochujang in the literature were similar in terms of total carbohydrates and fat, whereas protein content was higher and sodium content was lower in chestnut syrup gochujang than in traditional gochujang in the literature. Conclusions: The results imply that chestnut syrup gochujang has nutritional benefits such as higher content of protein and lower content of sodium than traditional gochujang in the literature, in addition with its good taste. Therefore, chestnut syrup gochujang may have high usage potential. There is a need to improve the quality and storage of chestnut syrup gochujang through future study.

  • Traditional medicines usually use combinational formula that is prepared by mixing different varieties of medicinal herbs and boiling them in water to yield a decoction. In recent years a modified method has been proposed and practiced wherein the individual herbs are boiled with water separately and later these extracts are mixed together for use. This practice has lead to a constant controversy concerning the chemical and biological equivalence between the preparations arriving out of these two methodologies. In this research, we attempted to study the effects of traditional and individual preparation of Ssanghwa-tang (ST) to evaluate their equivalence in terms of its antioxidant activity and polyphenol content. The study results indicate that the polyphenol contents as well as the extraction yields of these two preparations were very similar to each other.

  • This paper describes design and development of a system that supports continuous creation of hazard maps by local residents in their daily life. We made an interview survey to design our system in a model traditional town in Saga, Japan. The results show that in spite of continuous efforts, many practical problems remain and residents feel unsafe. Based on these results, we designed and developed a unique ICT-based support system which contributes to community-based disaster prevention/reduction. The continuous resident participation and posting design are core concept for our sustainable community-based approach. Our system continues to support making a hazard map by integrating the community-based hazard information. Local residents register information about the spot (disaster types, a risk level, a photograph, comments, positional information) that can be dangerous in case of disaster. We have evaluated the usefulness and possibilities of our prototype system implemented as an iOS application.

At the same time, as a classic video game genre, side-scrolling games have many loyal fans around the world. However, in recent years, some previous entertainment cultures such as shadow puppetry are slowly disappearing. In contrast, video games play an increasingly important role in people's entertainment. Combining Chinese traditional culture with video games can be a great way to promote the preservation of these cultures. By making traditional culture more accessible and engaging, developers can help to ensure that these cultures continue to be enjoyed by future generations. The side-scrolling game is a classic game type, and it has many similarities with shadow puppetry. This paper will analyze the similarities and differences between Chinese shadow puppetry and horizontal version games, and try to explore how to organically integrate the two, so as to promote the inheritance and development of traditional culture, and promote cultural innovation and the development of creative industries.

  • The Internet have increased the number of digital web documents related to the history and traditions of Korean Culture. However, users who search for creators or materials related to traditional cultures are not able to get the information they want and the results are not enough. Document classification is required to access this effective information. In the past, document classification has been difficult to manually and manually classify documents, but it has recently been difficult to spend a lot of time and money. Therefore, this paper develops an automatic text classification model of traditional cultural contents based on the data of the Korean information culture field composed of systematic classifications of traditional cultural contents. This study applied TF-IDF model, Bag-of-Words model, and TF-IDF/Bag-of-Words combined model to extract word frequencies for 'Korea Traditional Culture' data. And we developed the automatic text classification model of traditional cultural contents using Support Vector Machine classification algorithm.
