클러치 댐퍼용 원심 진자 흡진기의 비틀림 진동 절연 성능 평가 (Torsional Vibration Isolation Performance Evaluation of Centrifugal Pendulum Absorbers for Clutch Dampers)

  • This paper presents the torsional vibration isolation performance evaluation of a centrifugal pendulum absorbers (CPAs) that has a continuously varying resonance frequencies proportional to engine firing (excitation) order. CPAs are commonly used to suppress torsional vibrations in rotating machinery and internal combustion engines. In this study, they are employed on the current spring type torsional damper inside a torque converter of automotive vehicle. To evaluate the effectiveness of designed resonance tuning order, the torsional vibration transmissibility based on torque measurements with respect to different engine firing orders is experimentally measured with a lower-inertia dynamometer. The torsional vibration transmissibility with respect to different frequencies with engine order of 2 is also evaluated. It has been demonstrated that the significant vibration reduction over operational frequency range of interest can be achieved by attaching simple pendulums. Future research direction includes the study on theoretical analysis, improved design of pendulum etc.

증속 기어전동 로터-베어링 시스템에서 횡-비틀림 연성진동 특성의 상세 고찰 (A Detail Investigation on Coupled Lateral and Torsional Vibration Characteristics in a Speed Increasing Geared Rotor-bearing System)

  • Applying a general coupled lateral and torsional vibration finite element model of gear pair element, this paper intends to look into in detail the coupled lateral and torsional vibration characteristics of a turbo-chiller rotor bearing system, having a bull-pinion speed increasing gear. Investigations have been carried out systematically by comparing the uncoupled and coupled natural frequencies and their mode shapes upon varying the gear mesh stiffness with considerations on rotating speeds, and also by comparing the strain energies of lateral and torsional vibration modes. Results hale shown that some modes may hale the coupled lateral and torsional mode characteristics as the gear mesh stiffness Increases over a certain value, and moreover that their associated dominant modes may be different from their initial modes, j.e., a certain dominant mode may change from an initial torsional one to a lateral one or from an initial lateral one to a torsional one.

  • 곡선거더교의 설계에서 I형 병렬, 1박스, 2박스의 거더 형태의 교량은 휨과 비틀림을 동시에 발생함으로 그 응력은 매우 복잡하다. 일반적으로 비틀림은 순수 비틀림과 휨 비틀림으로 구성되어 있으므로 곡선거더교의 발생되는 응력들을 결정하는 절차는 매우 어렵다. 전달행렬법은 이론적인 배경과 적용이 매우 쉬운 장점 때문에 구조해석 분야에서 많이 사용되고 있으며, 유한차분법과 비교하여 신뢰성을 검증하여 좋은 결과를 얻었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 I형 병렬 곡선교, 1박스거더 곡선교, 2박스 거더 곡선교에 대한 비틀림 정수비와 비틀림 의한 비틀림 응력비 사이 관계를 비교 검토하여 휨 비틀림에 의한 응력해석을 생략할 수 있는 비틀림 정수비의 한계 값을 분석하였다.

Seismic torsional vibration in elevated tanks

  • Some elevated water tanks have failed due to torsional vibrations in past earthquakes. The overall axisymmetric structural geometry and mass distribution of such structures may leave only a small accidental eccentricity between centre of stiffness and centre of mass. Such a small accidental eccentricity is not expected to cause a torsional failure. This paper studies the possibility of amplified torsional behaviour of elevated water tanks due to such small accidental eccentricity in the elastic as well as inelastic range; using two simple idealized systems with two coupled lateral-torsional degrees of freedom. The systems are capable of retaining the characteristics of two extreme categories of water tanks namely, a) tanks on staging with less number of columns and panels and b) tanks on staging with large number of columns and panels. The study shows that the presence of a small eccentricity may lead to large displacement of the staging edge in the elastic range, if the torsional-to-lateral time period ratio $({\tau})$ of the elevated tanks lies within a critical range of 0.7< ${\tau}$ <1.25. Inelastic behaviour study reveals that such excessive displacement in some of the reinforced concrete staging elements may cause unsymmetric yielding. This may lead to progressive strength deterioration through successive yielding in same elements under cyclic loading during earthquakes. Such localized strength drop progressively develop large strength eccentricity resulting in large localized inelastic displacement and ductility demand, leading to failure. So, elevated water tanks should have ${\tau}$ outside the said critical range to avoid amplified torsional response. The tanks supported on staging with less number of columns and panels are found to have greater torsional vulnerability. Tanks located near faults seem to have torsional vulnerability for large ${\tau}$.

유효비틀림계수를 사용한 박벽개보의 비틀림해석 (Torsional Analysis of Thin-Walled Open Beams Using Effective Torsional Constants)

  • 본 논문에서는 집중 비틂모멘트와 등분포 비틂모멘트가 작용하는 박벽개보의 뒴구속에 대한 영향을 고려할 수 있는 새로운 유효비틀림계수를 제시한다. 상용 유한요소 프로그램의 알고리즘을 바꾸지 않고 순수 비틀림계수 대신에 제안된 비틀림계수를 직접 사용할 수 있다. 유도된 비틀림계수는 순수 비틀림과 뒴 비틀림에 의한 영향을 고려하며 순수 비틀림계수에 보정계수를 곱하여 산정한다. 순수 비틀림의 경우 유도된 계수는 순수 비틀림계수와 일치하게 나타났다. 순수 비틀림을 이용하여 본 연구에서 유도한 유효 비틀림계수는 Elhelbawey 등이 제안한 비틀림계수와 차이를 보여주고 있다. 또한, 유효 비틀림계수를 사용하여 구한 최대비틀림각을 이용하여 부재 내 에 발생하는 전단응력과 다른 연구자의 결과들과 비교, 검토한다.

수직비정형과 비틀림비정형을 동시에 가지는 저층 RC 건물의 내진성능에 관한 연구 (Study on the Seismic Performance for Low-rised RC Building with Vertical and Torsional Irregularities)

  • Korean piloti-type buildings are comprised of pilotis in the first story and shear walls in the upper stories. This vertical irregularity causes excessive lateral plastic deformation on the first story while the upper stories stay elastic. Meanwhile, asymmetric position of structural components such as core walls and columns of RC piloti-type buildings tends to produce torsional irregularities of the structures. Korean Building Code(KBC2016) requires the special seismic load and torsional amplification factor to apply to the piloti-type buildings lower than six-story or 20m if it has vertical and torsional irregularities when the building corresponds to seismic design category C or D. Many Korean low-rised RC buildings fall into the class. Therefore, the special earthquake load and torsional amplification factor are often applied to a building simultaneously. However, it has not been studied enough how much influence each parameter has on buildings with vertical and torsional irregularities at the same time. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of factor special seismic load and torsional amplification on seismic performance of irregular buildings. In this study, a damaged 4th story piloti-type building by the Pohang earthquake was selected and the earthquake response analysis was carried out with various seismic design methods by the KBC 2016. The effect of the design parameters on seismic performance was analyzed by the dynamic analysis of models with special seismic load and torsional amplification factor based on the selected building. It was concluded that the application of the torsional amplification factor to the reference model to which special seismic design was applied, does not significantly affect the seismic performance.

전단력 및 비틀림 모멘트에 의한 병진 변형 및 비틀림 변형의 상호 작용 효과 (The Interactive Effect of Translational Drift and Torsional Deformation on Shear Force and Torsional Moment)

  • 국내의 서비스 수준 지진(SLE)과 최대 고려 지진(MCE)의 두 RC 건물 구조물의 실험 및 해석 결과에서 얻은 탄성 및 비탄성 응답은 비틀림에 대한 전단 및 비틀림 거동에서 저항 메커니즘의 특성을 연구하는데 사용될 수 있다. 불균형 구조의 특성 연구에서는 전단력 및 비틀림 모멘트에 대한 병진 변형 및 비틀림 변형의 상호 작용 효과를 나타내는 방정식이 제안하였다. 탄성과 비탄성 거동에서 힘과 변형 사이에 상관 관계 유무가 다르기 때문에 증분 전단력과 증분 비틀림 모멘트를 최대 벽 프레임 변형을 중심으로 항복, 제하 및 재하중 단계로 구분하여 해당 증분 변형 및 증분 비틀림 변형 측면에서 해석을 수행하였다. 두 가지 주요 지배 모드의 탄성 조합에서 병진 변형은 주로 전단력에 기여하는 반면 비틀림 변형은 전체 비틀림 모멘트에 크게 기여한다. 그러나 비탄성 응답에서는 증분 병진 변형이 증분 전단력과 증분 비틀림 모멘트 모두에 기여하게 된다. 따라서 주어진 방정식을 이용하여 비탄성 응답에서 비틀림의 편심 감소, 비틀림 강성 저하 및 겉보기 에너지 생성과 같은 모든 현상들을 설명하였다.

  • Resistance to lateral torsional buckling of steel I-girder (open section) is a very important design requirement. But, most studies of steel I-girder with corrugated webs were invested in shear behavior. Until now, most studies about Lateral torsional buckling of I-girder with corrugated webs have been based on Lindner.J's study. the study includes that the pure torsional constant of I-girder with corrugated webs doesn't different from that of I-girder with flat webs. This paper pesents pure torsional constant I-girder with sinusoidally corrugated webs by using finite element analysis.

회전체의 비틀림 고유진동 해석 (Analysis of Torsional Natural Viibration Characteristics of Rotors)

  • A method to estimate the torsional critical speed for practical rotors has been developed in this study. First, the rotor with a uniform shaft segment is modeled for undamped torsional motion analysis, while satisfying all the boundary conditions. This eventually generates governing equations for the torsional critical speeds of the system. The set of governing equations has the form of a sparse and banded matrix. The elements of banded matrix can be arranged in partitions, which correspond to the specific boundary of the rotor. This permits an automatic generation of the system matrix using a computer. In order to calculate the determinant generated by the simultaneous equations, which leads to the torsional critical speed, a recurring numerical algorithm for a (3*4) sub-matrix has been used. This numerical algorithm practically examines successive (3*4) sub-matrix, one at a time, instead of treating a huge matrix. The output of the program provides the mode shapes with continuous curves. The method has been implemented to three rotors given as examples : a simple rotor, Prohl's rotor, and Macmillan rotor.

대형트럭 구동계의 비틀림 자유진동해석 (Torsional free vibration analysis of heavy duty powertrain)

  • Automobile company tries to reduce the inertia of powertrain to increase the fuel efficiency and increase the engine power every year to make the high speed driving possible at full load condition. These cause the torsional vibration of powertrain. But the demand about ride comfort improvement is increased constantly, so torsional vibration of powertrain become an emergency problem to be cured. This study is a basic research to reduce the torsional vibration of powertrain at driving condition. First, the heavy duty powertrain is characterized as a vibrating system. Its natural frequencies and mode shapes are reviewed. Second, by comparison of simulation results and experiment results, validity of developed model is verified. Finally, the couterplan which can reduce the torsional vibration by mode analysis and parameter modification is suggested.
