  • In this paper, we propose a direction of teaching method for future generations. In order to suggest such the direction, teaching and learning materials that integrate coding activities and mathematical modeling were developed through top-down and bottom-up processes. Coding and engineering experts and mathematics education experts developed teaching and learning materials through councils (top-down courses) and applied them to 24 high school first graders based on student responses (bottom-up courses). Additionally, the developed curriculum helped students increase interest and motivation and realize conceptual understanding, problem posing, and problem solving in mathematics. On the basis of these results, it provided an idea about how to develop curriculum combining mathematical modeling with coding activities, needed for the fourth industrial revolution.

  • Following principal-agent relationship between government and funding agency effects on efficiency and management of project, this paper suppose that project management cost rate variable on outsourcing and administration of institution, applies multiple regression analysis and logit analysis by using factors that procurement status of institutional operating expenses and each subordinates scale (Budget, subject number) and method (Top-down/Bottom-up), not a total amount, for examining factors following project efficiency analysis and way of commission. The major variables which effect on efficiency of institution are management cost scale (0.36), institutional operating expenses ratio (-0.47), way of outsourcing, the factors that affect way of outsourcing are portion of project management cost (-38.5) and institutional operating expenses rate (-11.7). This means both legal and financial stability are necessary and it is avoidable moral hazard and adverse selection on principal-agent problem.

  • This study investigates and analyzes the 16th Presidential records (record management secretary's office) from a record-recognition perspective and, based on the results, suggests the Presidential record management plan. To this end, the function of the records management secretary's office was first analyzed, and the 16th Presidential records transferred to the Presidential Archives were reviewed from a general perspective. Next, the nature of the records was investigated in a deductive, top-down manner by quantitatively analyzing the "production system type," "preservation period," "reason for determining the retention period," "management department," "electronic record type," "production year," etc., focusing on the "records file/item," "unit task," and "function." Finally, the characteristics and problems revealed during the record analysis were summarized. Based on the analysis results, a plan was proposed to redesign Presidential record management for the "reorganization" and "service" parts of the records.

  • Accurate characterization of terrestrial precipitation variation from high spatial resolution satellite sensors is beneficial for urban hydrology and microscale agriculture modeling, as well as natural disasters (e.g., urban flooding) early warning. However, the widely-used top-down approach for precipitation retrieval from microwave satellites is limited in several hydrological and agricultural applications due to their coarse spatial resolution. In this research, we aim to apply a novel bottom-up method, the parameterized SM2RAIN, where precipitation can be estimated from soil moisture signals based on an inversion of water balance model, to generate high spatial resolution terrestrial precipitation estimates at 0.01º grid (roughly 1-km) from the C-band SAR Sentinel-1. This product was then tested against a common reanalysis-based precipitation data and a domestic rain gauge network from the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) over central South Korea, since a clear difference between climatic types (coasts and mainlands) and land covers (croplands and mixed forests) was reported in this area. The results showed that seasonal precipitation variability strongly affected the SM2RAIN performances, and the product derived from separated parameters (rainy and non-rainy seasons) outperformed that estimated considering the entire year. In addition, the product retrieved over the mainland mixed forest region showed slightly superior performance compared to that over the coastal cropland region, suggesting that the 6-day time resolution of S1 data is suitable for capturing the stable precipitation pattern in mainland mixed forests rather than the highly variable precipitation pattern in coastal croplands. Future studies suggest comparing this product to the traditional top-down products, as well as evaluating their integration for enhancing high spatial resolution precipitation over entire South Korea.

  • Underground structure construction in the downtown is very difficult despite the development of construction technology. We have been a lot of research in order to solve the problem, it was a remarkable achievement. But there are still many difficulties. This study is to analyze the construction technology to demolish the existing underground structures and to build new building applied topdown method at the same time. This technology was effective to suppress interference between the exsisting structure and new building. Therefore, this technology is expected to be able to be used in similar cases in the future.

  • A simple method is presented for fabricating micro/nanoscale combined hierarchical structures using a two-step UV-assisted capillary molding technique. This lithographic method consists of two steps: (i) fabrication of partially cured polymer microstructures using a PDMS mold and (ii) subsequent nanofabrication using a high-resolution polyurethane acrylate (PUA) mold on top of the pre-formed microstructures. Using this technique, various micro/nano hierarchical structures were fabricated with minimum resolution down to 70 nm over a large area with very good reproducibility.

  • The block matching algorithm for the motion estimation is relatively simple to implement, and thus widely applied in image sequence coding such as H.261, MPEG- I and MPEG-2. Most techniques of the block matching method use fixed-size blocks for the motion estimation. And their success relies on the assumption that the motion within each block is uniform. But if the block size is increased to reduce the number of motion vectors for high data compression, the estimated image brings about many errors. In this paper, the variable-sized blocks are used to solve this problem. And the top down method is used to select the block size.

  • In this study, bottom-up type powder processing and top-down type SPD (severe plastic deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve full density of carbon nanotube (CNT)/metal matrix composites with superior mechanical properties by improved particle bonding and least grain growth, which were considered as a bottle neck of the bottom-up method using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. ECAP (equal channel angular pressing), the most promising method in SPD, was used for the CNT/Cu powder consolidation. The powder ECAP processing with 1, 2, 4 and 8 route C passes was conducted at room temperature.

  • The waterproofing material can be roughly divided into a coating material and a sheet waterproofing material. In the case of coating waterproofing materials, sheet waterproofing materials, which are easy to use in terms of workability and quality control, have been recently used because of their incomplete use of coating thickness, long curing time and poor blending due to in situ blending. However, in the case of the sheet waterproofing material, since the sheet overlapping portion is inevitably generated, various defects (breakage due to the behavior) are frequently observed. Therefore, it is imperative to establish fundamental measures to minimize this.

  • A technology for inevitable integration as well as an ability of development of technology according to professional fields is needed and supported for securing technology in the era of international competition. In other words, advanced business technique and technology applied for streamlining of management are required and the relations between operations and systems could be clarified. This paper reviews the course for development of process used in the systems engineering and business administration and tries to seek the way of training professionals in a variety of fields for elevating domestic technologies in different fields to the international level. Particularly, it tries to get the way of overcome the present technical restriction that depends on imports through matching a hazard analysis method with the method above mentioned. Especially, it tries to present the way of contributing to securing software safety on the basis of the importance of development of process model that takes the life cycle into consideration.
