  • Implant-supported restorations were connected to commercially pure titanium endosteal implants 3 months in mandible and 6 months in maxilla after the implants were inserted into patient jaws. Modifications of titanium implant surfaces have reduced the waiting time for osseointegration, resulting in the development of the early loading concept, which is defined at present as a restoration in contact with the opposing dentition and placed at least 1 week after implant placement, but no later than 2 months afterward. Nowadays, immediate loading protocols have also been introduced, using the implants that are designed to enhance initial stability. Immediate loading eliminates the edentulous period of a patient. Although dentists widely accept these concepts of early and immediate loading, they agree the conventional loading concept is still necessary, which describes loading protocols later than 2 months after implant insertion. The timing of loading is determined mainly by the factors of a patient. This paper considers for what dental clinicians should be careful in implant-supported restoration procedures, considering the implant late failure.

  • It is well known that the combustion phenomenon of diesel engine is an unsteady turbulent diffusion combustion. Therefore, the combustion performance of diesel engine is related to a complex phenomenon which involves the various factors of combustion, such as a injection pressure, injection timing, injection rate, and operation conditions of engine. In this study, the spray and the flame development processes in a single cylinder D.I. diesel visualization engine which uses the electronically controlled injection system were visualized to interpret the complicated combustion phenomenon by using high speed CCD camera. In addition, the cylinder pressure and heat release rate were also obtained in order to analyze the diesel combustion characteristics under several engine conditions.

  • Ultra-low latency control is one of the characteristics of 5G cellular network services, which means that the control loop is handled in milliseconds. To achieve this, it is necessary to identify time delay factors that occur in all components related to CPS control loop, including new 5G cellular network elements such as MEC, and to optimize CPS control loop in real time. In this paper, a novel CPS architecture for ultra-low latency control of CPS is designed. We first define the ultra-low latency characteristics of CPS and the CPS concept model, and then propose the design of the control loop performance monitor (CLPM) to manage the timing information of CPS control loop. Finally, a case study of MEC-based implementation of ultra-low latency CPS reviews the feasibility of future applications.

  • This paper aims to find influencing factors for firms to adopt network equipments which based on Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA). ATCA suggests a standardized specification for telecom equipments design. This new paradigm of developing network equipment provides benefits for network equipment manufacturers by reducing development time for new equipments with lower CapEx and OpEx. It also deliver oportunities for telecom services providers to exploit or test new services by replacing or upgrading part of total system with modular based network equipments. The research model basically depends on various researches based on Rogers' Innovation and Diffusion theory and it is verified through an empirical study for ninety-one domestic forms. Binary logistic regression was conducted to find the relationship between purchase intention and factors affecting new technology adoption. As a result, two factors such as scalability and cost/benefit effectiveness of the new system were statistically significant. Cluster analysis followed with those two variables. This helps TEMs (Telecom Equipments Manufacturers) get some implications on timing and target customers for diffusing the ATCA based technologies in the market.

  • Introduction : Perioperative irradiation is often combined with spine tumor surgery. Radiation is known to be detrimental to healing process of bone fusion. We tried to investigate bone fusion rate in spine tumor surgery cases with perioperative radiation therapy (RT) and to analyze significant factors affecting successful bone fusion. Methods : Study cohort was 33 patients who underwent spinal tumor resection and bone graft surgery combined with perioperative RT. Their medical records and radiological data were analyzed retrospectively. The analyzed factors were surgical approach, location of bone graft (anterior vs. posterior), kind of graft (autologous graft vs. allograft), timing of RT (preoperative vs. postoperative), interval of RT from operation in cases of postoperative RT (within 1 month vs. after 1 month) radiation dose (above 38 Gy vs. below 38 Gy) and type of radiation therapy (conventional RT vs. stereotactic radiosurgery). The bone fusion was determined on computed tomography images. Result : Bone fusion was identified in 19 cases (57%). The only significant factors to affect bony fusion was the kind of graft (75% in autograft vs. 41 in allograft, p=0.049). Other factors proved to be insignificant relating to postoperative bone fusion. Regarding time interval of RT and operation in cases of postoperative RT, the time interval was not significant (p=0.101). Conclusion : Spinal fusion surgery which was combined with perioperative RT showed relatively low bone fusion rate (57%). For successful bone fusion, the selection of bone graft was the most important.
