This study analyzed stresses in concrete and its reinforcement, computing the additional loading transferred by concrete creep. The loading varied from zero, structure exclusively under its self-weight, up to the critical buckling load. The studied structure was a real, tapered, reinforced concrete pole. As concrete is a composite material, homogenizing techniques were used in the calculations. Due to the static indetermination for determining the normal forces acting on concrete and reinforcement, equations that considered the balance of forces and compatibility of displacement on cross-sections were employed. In the mathematical solution used to define the critical buckling load, all the elements of the structural dynamics present in the system were considered, including the column self-weight. The structural imperfections were linearized using the geometric stiffness, the proprieties of the concrete were considered according to the guidelines of the American Concrete Institute (ACI 209R), and the ground was modeled as a set of distributed springs along the foundation length. Critical buckling loads were computed at different time intervals after the structure was loaded. Finite element method results were also obtained for comparison. For an interval of 5000 days, the modulus of elasticity and critical buckling load reduced by 36% and 27%, respectively, compared to an interval of zero days. During this time interval, stress on the reinforcement steel reached within 5% of the steel yield strength. The computed strains in that interval stayed below the normative limit.
An automated system is developed to perform fatigue crack growth tests under constant effective stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K_{eff}$. In the system, crack length and crack opening load are measured in real-time by using the unloading elastic compliance method. The system consists of two personal computers, an analogue electrical subtraction circuit, a stepping motor, a stepping motor driver, a PIO board, and the application software used to integrate the whole system. The performance of the developed system was tested and discussed performing constant ${\Delta}K_{eff}$ crack growth tests on a CT specimen of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy. The performance of the system is found to be strongly dependent on the accuracy of measurements of crack opening load. Besides constant ${\Delta}K_{eff}$ testing, the system is expected to be successfully applied for automation of various fatigue tests.
To guarantee client buffer stabilization and visual quality, the VOD service that provides real time video titles on requirements of numerous users, needs a mechanism which transfers frames with dropping or skipping algorithm by network condition. In this paper, we show an algorithm that transfers withdrawed skipped MPEG frames(I, P, B frame) from disk to client dependent on network load. Moreover, we verify through a simulation that adaptive dealing on network load can reduce the network load and stabilize client receiving buffer.
In presented paper, moving load problem of simply supported axially functionally graded (AFG) beam is investigated under temperature rising based on the first shear beam theory. The material properties of beam vary along the axial direction. Material properties of the beam are considered as temperature-dependent. The governing equations of problem are derived by using the Lagrange procedure. In the solution of the problem the Ritz method is used and algebraic polynomials are used with the trivial functions for the Ritz method. In the solution of the moving load problem, the Newmark average acceleration method is used in the time history. In the numerical examples, the effects of material graduation, temperature rising and velocity of moving load on the dynamic responses ofAFG beam are presented and discussed.
This paper investigates the time-dependent crack growth in X20CrMoV 12 1 steel weld joints. Crack growth test are carried out $545^{\circ}C$ on side-grooved 1/2T CT specimens under static loads. A simulated material is produced for the intercritical HAZ, where fracture normally occurs. Constitutive properties are obtained for the simulated HAZ material as well as for the base metal and weld metal. Finite element analyses of crack growth are performed on the models with and without a HAZ layer, using the experimental crack length-time history. The inclusion of HAZ layer increase the load line velocities significantly. The crack growth rates are correlated reasonably well with $C^*$. The smallest crack size for the validity of $C^*$ is found much smaller than the ASTM crack initiation size for 1T CT specimen of creep ductile materials.

The nanoindenter and AFM have been used for nanofabrication, such as nanolithography, nanowriting, and nanopatterning, as well as measurement of mechanical properties and surface topology. Nanoscale indents can be used as cells for molecular electronics and drug delivery, slots for integration into nanodevices, and defects for tailoring the structure and properties. Therefore, it is very important to make indents of desired morphology (shape, size and depth). Indents of different shapes can be obtained by using indenters of different geometries such as a cube comer and conical and spherical tips. The depth and size of indents can be controlled by making indentations at different indentation loads. However, in case of viscoplastic viscoelastic materials such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) the time dependent deformation (TDD) should also be considered. In this study, the effect of process parameters such as loading rate and hold-time at peak load on the indent morphology (maximum penetration depth, elastic recovery, transient creep recovery, residual depth pile-up height) of PMMA were studied for hyperfine pattern fabrication.

The high temperature fatigue crack growth behavior of SUS 304 stainless steel at $550^{\circ}C$ and $650^{\circ}C$ was investigated under various kinds of stress ratio and frequency in sinusoidal waveform on the basis of the non-linear fracture mechanics. The result arranging crack growth rate by modified J-integral J' showed influence of stress ratio and frequency. All the data obtained under the test at $550^{\circ}C$ were plotted within data band of da/dN-${\triangle}J_f$ relationship for cycle-dependent crack growth. On the basis of static creep and cycle-dependent data band; both time- and cycle-dependent crack growth behavior was observed under loading conditions at $650^{\circ}C$, but cycle-dependent crack growth behavior predominantly appeared and time-dependent crack growth behaviour was little observed under loading conditions at $550^{\circ}C$. Fractographic examinations for fracture surface indicated that the fracture mode was generally transgranular. The stripes were found on fracture surface and each stripe was accompanied by a crack tip blunting and an abrupt increase in the load-point displacement. The $J'_{an}$ had a validity in case of $650^{\circ}C, but scarcely had it in case of $550^{\circ}C$.
State-dependent call admission control (SDCAC) is proposed to make efficient use of scarce wireless resource in a hierarchical wireless network with heterogeneous traffic. With SDCAC, new calls are accepted according to an acceptance probability taking account of not only cell dwell time but also call holding time and system state (i.e., occupied bandwidth). An analytical method is developed to calculate performance measures of interest, e.g., new call blocking probability, forced termination probability, over. all weighted blocking probability. Numerical results with not only stationary but nonstationary traffic loads are presented to show the robustness of SDCAC. It is shown that SDCAC performs much better than the other considered schemes under nonstationary traffic load.

An analysis method for the time-dependent nonlinear analysis of segmentally erected planar prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridges was described. To account for the time-dependent effects, load history, creep, shrinkage. aging of concrete and relaxation of prestress were considered. Changes in boundary conditions and loads, installing and removing frame elements, stressing, restressing and removing cables and prestressing tendons were incorporated for modeling segmental erection operations. One typical example on segmentally erected prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge was presented to illustrate the analysis method. Results of this example show that it is important to follow the development of stresses and deformations at all stages of construction to predict the true response of the bridge through its various load history.
In this paper, the progressive deformation and the creep-fatigue damage for the conceptually designed reactor internals of KALIMER(Korea Advanced Liquid MEtal Reactor) are carried out by using the elastic analysis method in the RCC-MR code for normal operating conditions including the thermal load, seismic load (OBE) and dead weight. The maximum operating temperature of this reactor is 53$0^{\circ}C$ and the total service lifetime is 30 years. Thus, the time- dependent creep and stress-rupture effects become quite important in the structural design. The effects of the thermal induced membrane stress on the creep-fatigue damage are investigated with the risk of the elastic follow-up. To calculate the thermal stress, detailed thermal analyses considering conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer mechanisms are carried out with the ANSYS program. Using the results of the elastic analysis, the progressive deformation and creep-fatigue damages are calculated step by step using the RCC-MR in detail. This paper ill be a very useful guide for an actual application of the high temperature structural design of the nuclear power plant accounting for the time-dependent creep and stress-rupture effects.
