Adaptive compensation method for real-time hybrid simulation of train-bridge coupling system

  • Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) was applied to investigate the train-bridge interaction of a high-speed railway system, where the railway bridge was selected as the numerical substructure, and the train was physically tested. The interaction between the two substructures was reproduced by a servo-hydraulic shaking table. To accurately reproduce the high-frequency interaction responses ranging from 10-25Hz using the hydraulic shaking table with an inherent delay of 6-50ms, an adaptive time series (ATS) compensation algorithm combined with the linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) was proposed and implemented in the RTHS. Testing cases considering different train speeds, track irregularities, bridge girder cross-sections, and track settlements featuring a wide range of frequency contents were conducted. The performance of the proposed ATS+LQG delay compensation method was compared to the ATS method and RTHS without any compensation in terms of residual time delays and root mean square errors between commands and responses. The effectiveness of the ATS+LQG method to compensate time delay in RTHS with high-frequency responses was demonstrated and the proposed ATS+LQG method outperformed the ATS method in yielding more accurate responses with less residual time delays.

  • This paper discusses a stochastic stabilization of Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy system with Markovian input delay. The finite Markovian process is adopted to model the input delary of the overall control system. It is assumed that the zero and hold devices are used for control input. The continuous-time TS fuzzy system with the Markovian input delay is discretized for easy handling delay, according, the discretized TS fuzzy system is represented by a discrete-time TS fuzzy system with jumping parameters. The stochastic stabilizibility of the jump TS fuzzy system is derived and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LNIS)

Transfer Alignment with Adaptive Filter Estimating Time Delay (시간지연 추정 적응필터 적용 전달정렬 기법)

  • During transfer alignment navigation information transferred MINS(master inertial navigation system) to SINS(slave inertial navigation system) has a changed time delay. The changed time delay degrades the performance of transfer alignment. This paper proposes an adaptive filter that estimates covariance of a time delay in real-time using residual of measurements. The performance of the adaptive filter is compared with that of the EKF(extended Kalman filter) in case of transfer alignment for vertical launcher in the ship. The results show that proposed method is more effective than EKF in estimating attitude errors.

  • In this paper, we propose a solution for random time-delay in teleoperation via internet using QoS, and show the experimental results of our proposed method. By ensuring a constant bandwidth required for the specific telecontrolled system, we change irregular random time-delay to a predictable time-delay, and so we can control the system with the time-delay shorter than the specified time-delay. Through the experimental results, we show the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Effect of Ignition Delay Time Gap on the Linked Pyrotechnic Thrusters (파이로추력기의 점화시간차 영향)

  • The effect of the ignition delay time gap is newly studied. The operational characteristics of the linked two pyrotechnic thrusters are affected by the time gap. Although two thrusters are simultaneously ignited, the time at which the pressure starts to rise in each thruster may not be synchronized. The characteristic of the system with the time gap is compared with that of the fully synchronized system without any time gap. Depending upon the magnitude of the time gap, the pressure-time profile and the ballistic performance are different. When two pyrotechnic thrusters have a time gap, the peak pressure of one thruster(in which the pressure is built up earlier) is increased and the other is decreased. As the time gap is increased, the peak pressure is converged into the maximum pressure. This maximum pressure can be obtained when only one thruster is activated. Because the maximum pressure is bounded, it is predicted that there isn't any catastrophic failures in the considered system. When the time gap is relatively small, the impulse of the combined force acting on the moving body is almost maintained. But the ballistic performance of the system with a large time gap should be carefully estimated because the reduction of the ballistic performance should not be easily neglected.

  • This paper compares the performances with space time coding and cyclic delay diversity techniques for OFDM systems in interference-limited environments. While a communication system usually use a diversity technique to improve its own performance, it is also necessary to consider the interference effects to other users as well if the system is operated in interference-limited environments. When there is no interference from or to other users, space time coding technique results in better performance than cyclic delay diversity. However, cyclic delay diversity can be better than space time coding if interferences to other users are considered.

  • Recently a new modified Smith predictor is proposed for a time-delay system with an integrator. It is shown that the approximate model yields the zero-steady state error and the disturbance compensator improved the transient response. But in case of mismatch between the plant's time-delay and model's time-delay, the overall response is not satisfactory. In this paper, it is proposed that the proper pole is added to the new modified smith predictor to improve the overall response.

  • This note is concerned with a robust sliding mode control(SMC) for a class of unmatched uncertain system with severe commensurate state time delay. The suggested method is extended to the control of severe state time delay systems with unmatched uncertainties except the matched input matrix uncertainty. A transformed sliding surface is proposed and a stabilizing control input is suggested. The closed loop stability together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on the proposed sliding surface is investigated through one Lemma and two Theorems by using the Lyapunov direct method with the concept of the control Lyapunov function instead of complex Lyapunov-Kravoskii functionals. Through an illustrative example and simulation study, the usefulness of the main results is verified.

  • When a system is teleoperated in the indoor environment through the wireless LAN, we must consider the communication time delay. The time delay is random and unbounded due to the inherent characteristic and surrounding environment. As result of this, the stability and performance of the teleoperated system is degraded. In this paper, we present the adaptive control algorithm to overcome this problem by measuring time delay and allocating task corresponding to time delay dynamically. And the simple experiment is conducted to demonstrate the feasibility.

  • The PID controller have the simple structure and show the comparatively good control performance. Crystal Grower(FF-CZ150) melt polycrystalline silicon at the temperature of about 1450$^{\circ}C$, then grow it into a single crystalline ingot. The automatic diameter control system of the Crystal Grower has a good performance with only PD control. But it contain the integrator in the plant which has a long time delay. In this paper, we show the secondary approximate model and applies time delay controller which has good performance for the plant with long time delay. It will be able to improve the response characteristic against a standard input and a load disturbance.
