The relationship between three phenological parameters and somatic embryogenesis was investigated during a two-year period. Staminodes and petals from six hybrids and two clones as controls were sowed on three distinct primary callus growth media. Flowering level, fructification level, and leaf thrusts rhythm as phenological parameters were measured simultaneously during the weekly harvest of flower buds. Mean and coefficient of variation of the measured parameters highlighted stable phenological phases. The relationship between phenological parameters and somatic embryogenesis was investigated first by comparing the variation of somatic embryogenesis and that of the phenological parameters, and second by using Pearson's linear correlation. Except for the fructification level in both control clones the first year, the other parameters recorded stable phenological phases, regardless of the genotype and year. Favorable and unfavorable phases for the somatic embryogenesis were identified. In hybrids, favorable phases included February, August, September, and October. In both control clones, time interval propitious to embryogenesis stretched from February to December. The significance of the coefficient of correlation seemed to establish a relationship between somatic embryogenesis and phenology. However, a causal link could not be established. Leaf thrusts rhythm was revealed to be the phenological parameter most linked to somatic embryogenesis. Attempts to optimize embryogenesis during unfavorable phases, showed that a correction of 2.4 D/TDZ concentration is not the solution.
Objective: An experiment was conducted to study the effect of graded concentration of digestible lysine (dLys) on performance of layers fed diets containing sub-optimal level of protein. Methods: Five diets were formulated to contain graded concentrations of dLys (0.700%, 0.665%, 0.630%, 0.593%, and 0.563%), but similar levels of crude protein (15% CP), energy (10.25 MJ ME/kg) and other nutrients. A total of 3,520 hens (26 wk of age) with mean body weight of 1,215+12.65 g were randomly divided into 40 replicate groups of 88 birds in each and housed in an open sided colony cage house. Each diet was offered ad libitum to eight replicates from 27 to 74 wk of age. The performance was compiled at every 28 d and the data for each parameter were grouped into three phases, that is early laying phase (27 to 38 wk), mid laying phase (39 to 58 wk), and late laying phase (59 to 74 wk of age) for statistical analysis. Results: Egg production, egg mass and feed efficiency (feed required to produce an egg) were significantly improved by the dLys level during the early and mid laying phases but not during the late phase. Whereas feed intake was significantly reduced by dLys concentration during mid and late laying phases but not during early laying phase. The egg weight was not affected by dLys concentration in any of the three phases. Conclusion: Based on best fitted statistical models, dietary requirements of dLys worked out to be 0.685%, 0.640%, and 0.586% during early phase, mid phase, and late egg laying phase, respectively. The calculated requirement of dLys for the respective production phases are 727 mg/b/d during the early and mid laying phases and 684 mg/b/d during the late laying phase in diets containing 15% CP.
In this paper, we investigated the quench generation of HTSC elements in fault types according to inductance variation in the integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL. The integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL was the upgrade version of the single-phase flux-lock type SFCL. The structure of the integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL consisted of three-phase flux-lock reactor wound on an iron core with the ratio of the same turn between coil 1 and coil 2 in each phase. When the SFCL is operated under the normal condition, the flux generated in the iron core is zero because the flux generated between two coils of each single phase is canceled out. Therefore, the SFCL's impedance is zero, and the SFCL has negligible influence on the power system. However, if a fault occurs in any single-phase among three phases, the flux generated in the iron core is not zero any more. The flux makes HTSC elements of all phases quench irrespective of the fault type, which reduces the current of fault phase as well as the current of sound phase. It was observed that the fault current limiting characteristics of the suggested SFCL were dependent on the quench characteristics of HTSC elements in all three phases.
Intron prediction is an important problem of the constantly updated genome annotation. Using two model plant (rice and $Arabidopsis$) genomes, we compared two well-known intron prediction tools: the Blast-Like Alignment Tool (BLAT) and Sim4cc. The results showed that each of the tools had its own advantages and disadvantages. BLAT predicted more than 99% introns of whole genomic introns with a small number of false-positive introns. Sim4cc was successful at finding the correct introns with a false-negative rate of 1.02% to 4.85%, and it needed a longer run time than BLAT. Further, we evaluated the intron information of 10 complete plant genomes. As non-coding sequences, intron lengths are not limited by a triplet codon frame; so, intron lengths have three phases: a multiple of three bases (3n), a multiple of three bases plus one (3n + 1), and a multiple of three bases plus two (3n + 2). It was widely accepted that the percentages of the 3n, 3n + 1, and 3n + 2 introns were quite similar in genomes. Our studies showed that 80% (8/10) of species were similar in terms of the number of three phases. The percentages of 3n introns in $Ostreococcus$$lucimarinus$ was excessive (47.7%), while in $Ostreococcus$$tauri$, it was deficient (29.1%). This discrepancy could have been the result of errors in intron prediction. It is suggested that a three-phase evaluation is a fast and effective method of detecting intron annotation problems.
In this paper, we investigated the quench characteristics of high-Tc superconducting(HTSC) elements in the integrated three-phase flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) according to fault types such as the single-line-to-ground fault, the double-line-to-ground fault, the line-to-line fault and the triple-line-to-ground fault. The integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL is an upgrade version of single-phase flux-lock type SFCL. The structure of the integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL consisted of a three-phase flux-lock reactor wound on an iron core with the ratio of the same turn between coil 1 and coil 2 in each phase. When the SFCL is under the normal condition, the flux generated in the iron core is zero because the flux generated between two coils of each single phase is canceled out. Therefore, the SFCL's impedance is zero, and the SFCL has negligible influence on the power system. However, if a fault occurs in any single one of three phases, the flux generated in the iron core is not zero any more. The flux makes HTSC elements of all phases to quench irrespective of the fault type, which reduces the current in fault phase as well as the current of sound phase. It was obtained that the fault current limiting characteristics of the suggested SFCL were dependent on the quench characteristics of HTSC elements in all three phases.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether dual-hemisphere transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) could induce more cortical activity, compared to single-hemisphere, using functional MRI (fMRI). Methods: One right-handed healthy subject was recruited. Three phases of dual-hemisphere tDCS (i.e. anodal tDCS over the left-dominant primary sensoriomotor cortex (SM1) and cathodal tDCS over the right-non dominant SM(1) were consecutively delivered on to a subject, during fMRI scanning. The voxel count and the intensity index in the averaged cortical map were analyzed among the three tDCS phases. Results: Our result showed that cortical activation was observed on all the three phases of the dual-hemisphere tDCS. Voxel count and intensity index were as following; 912 and 4.07 in the first phase, 1102 and 3.90 in the second phase, 1031 and 3.80 in the third phase. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that application of the dual-hemisphere tDCS could induce cortical activity and maintain to recruit cortical neurons. Our findings suggested that application of dual-hemisphere tDCS could produce efficiency of the ongoing tDCS effect to facilitate cortical excitability.

The Raman shift of water vapor is 3657 $cm^{-1}$, and this Raman signal can be easily separated from other Raman signals or elastic signals. However, it is difficult to make simultaneous Raman measurements on the three phases of water, namely, ice water, liquid water, and water vapor. This is because we must consider the overlap between their Raman spectra. Therefore, very few groups have attempted to make Raman simultaneous measurements even on two elements (water vapor and liquid water, or water vapor and ice water). We have made an effort to find three characteristic Raman wavelengths that correspond to the three phases of water after measuring full Raman spectra of water on particular days that are rainy, snowy or clear. Finally, we have found that the 401-nm, 404-nm, and 408-nm wavelengths are the most characteristic Raman wavelengths that are representative of the water phases when we are using the 355-nm laser wavelength for making measurements.
Cytological changes of the epithelial cells according to the developmenatal phases of the seminal vesicle related to the spermatogenic stages in the testicular lobules during spermagenesis in male Neptunea (Barbitonia) cumingii (Gastropoda: Buccinidae) were investigated monthly by electron microscopical and histological observations. N. (B) cumingii is dioecious, and an internal fertilization species. The male genital organ is located near the tentacles. The spermatozoon is approximatley $50{\mu}m$ in length. The axoneme of the tail flagellum consists of nine pairs of microtubles at the periphery and one pair at the center. The process of germ cell development during spermatogenesis can be divided into five succesive stages: (1) spermatogonia, (2) primary spermatocytes, (3) secondary spermatocytes, (4) spermatids, and (5) spermatozoa. A considerable amount of spermatozoa make their appearance in the testicular lobules (or acini) and some of them are tranported from the testis towards the seminal vesicles until late July. In this study, the developmental phases of the epithelial cells of the seminal vesicles of N. (B.) cumingii could be classified into four phases: (1) S-I phase (resting), (2) S-IIphase (early accumulating), (3) S-III phase (accumulating), and (4) S-IV phase (spent). However, in case of N. (B.) arthritica cumingii, the developmental phases of the seminal vesicle were devided into three phases: (1) resting, (2) accumulating and (3) spent. Granular bodies in the inner layer of the seminal vesicles are involved in resorption of digestion of residual spermatozoa.
The change of microstructures in the base metal during transient liquid phase bonding process of directionally Ni base superalloy, GTD-111 was investigated. Bonds were fabricated using a series of holding times(0-7.2ks) at three different temperatures(1403, 1418 and 1453K) under a vacuum of 13.3mPa. In raw material, ${\gamma}$- ${\gamma}$' eutectic phases, platelet η phases, MC carbide and PFZ were seen in interdendritic regions or near grain boundary and size of primary ${\gamma}$' precipitates near interdendritic regions were bigger than core region. The primary ${\gamma}$' precipitates in dendrite core were dissolved early in bonding process, but ${\gamma}$' precipitates near interdendritic regions were dissolved partially and shape changed. The dissolution rate increased with increasing temperature. Phases in interdendritic regions or near pain boundary continually changed with time at the bonding temperature. In the bonding temperature of 1403K, eutectic phases had not significantly changed, but η phases had transformed from platelet shape to needle morphology and PFZ region had widened with time. The interdendritic region and near pain boundary were liquated partially at 1423k and fully at 1453k by reaction of η phases and PFZ. In the bonding temperature of 1453K, interdendritic region and near pain boundary were liquated and then new phases which mixed with η phases, PFZ and MC carbide crystallized during cooling. Crystallized η phases transformed from rod shape to platelet shape with increasing holding time.
During normal machine operation, partial discharge(PD) tests were performed with partial discharge analyzer(PDA) in two hydrogenerators. Six cable couplers were installed in circuit ring bus and endwinding of three phases. PDA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the partial discharge magnitude$(Q_m)$ were very low in hydrogenerator #1 and #2, respectively. The trend analyses of NQN and $Q_m$ value are available for monitoring of the insulation condition in hydrogenerator stator windings. The insulation condition of stator winding can be assessed. Discharge at conductor surface was discovered in B phase(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. Internal discharges were generated in A and C phases(C2 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1 and in A, Band C phases(C1 and C2 couplers) of hydrogenerator #2. Slot discharges occurred in A, Band C phases(C1 coupler) of hydrogenerator #1. The stator windings of two hydrogenerators were in good condition.
