Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to model each Xíng(行) of the Yīnyáng Wǔxíng(陰陽五行) theory as a vector, to interpret the Xiāngshēng Xiāngkè(相生相剋) theory as a vector sum, and argue the objectivity and universal applicability of the Xiāngshēng Xiāngkè(相生相剋) theory. Methods : The five xíngs of the Wǔxíng were modeled and expressed as vectors, and the Xiāngshēng Xiāngkè theories were quantitatively explained by vector summation. Results : We calculated the Wǔxíng vectors using the vector sum formula, and found that the Xíng vectors that received mutual support increased in size by about 62%, and the Xíng vectors that received opposition decreased in size by about 38%. Conclusions : This result could be considered as quantitative interpretation of the contents of the Xiāngshēng Xiāngkè(相生相剋) theory which has mostly been explained qualitatively. The results of this study could hopefully provide ideas to quantify various theories based on the Yinyangwuxing theory such as Korean Medicine and other traditional fields in East Asian culture.
The present paper considers how to teach mathematical concepts. In particular, we aim to a balanced, unified achievement for three elements of concept loaming such as concept understanding, computation and application through one's mathematical intuition. In order to do this, we classify concepts into three patterns, that is, intuitive concepts, logical concepts and formal concepts. Such classification is based on three kinds of philosophy of mathematics : intuitionism, logicism, fomalism. We provide a concrete, practical investigation with important nine concepts in theory of vectors from the viewpoint of three patterns of concepts. As a consequence, we suggest certain solutions for an effective concept learning in teaching theory of vectors.
An enterprise must achieve both a sound organizational management and effective development of individual members while maintaining a balanced approach. Relative to this, there is a research field dubbed as Organizational Activation. However, there is a necessity to clarify various factors required for organizational activation and to propose a methodology for organization management. This study is an attempt to create a model from an organization-a University Seminar Class-and agents therein-the Students and the Teacher-with an assumed goal of advancing together toward the students' self-growth. The model is expressed on two dimensional planes with vectors through a computer. Vectors are composed of the growth, demand, member, hindrance and student vectors. These vectors provide data to the mathematical model for a simulation. Each agent provided the individual information from the questionnaire-conducted to 169 university students. From the analysis data and extrapolations, this study was able to craft a guideline for future seminar activity. It also examines the possibility of assimilation of the Questionnaire Approach and that of the Computational Organization Theory approach. Finally, this study discusses the future possibility of application of the Assimilated Method for research and development, and for project management.

In this paper, an adaptive sparse singular value decomposition (ASSVD) algorithm is proposed to estimate the signal matrix when only one data matrix is observed and there is high dimensional white noise, in which we assume that the signal matrix is low-rank and has sparse singular vectors, i.e. it is a simultaneously low-rank and sparse matrix. It is a structured matrix since the non-zero entries are confined on some small blocks. The proposed algorithm estimates the singular values and vectors separable by exploring the structure of singular vectors, in which the recent developments in Random Matrix Theory known as anisotropic Marchenko-Pastur law are used. And then we prove that when the signal is strong in the sense that the signal to noise ratio is above some threshold, our estimator is consistent and outperforms over many state-of-the-art algorithms. Moreover, our estimator is adaptive to the data set and does not require the variance of the noise to be known or estimated. Numerical simulations indicate that ASSVD still works well when the signal matrix is not very sparse.

This paper presents an effective cutting force model that enable us to predict the instantaneous cutting force in face milling from a knowledge of the work material properties and cutting conditions. The development of the model is based on the orthogonal machining theory with the effective rake angle which is defined in the plane containing the cutting velocity and chip flow vectors. Face milling testes are performed at different feeds and, a fairly good agreement is shown between the predicted cutting forces and test results.

The average distortio of the vector quantizer is calcualted using a probability function F of the input source for a given codebook. But, since the input source is unknown in geneal, using the sample vectors that is realized from a random vector having probability function F, a time-average opeation is employed so as to obtain an approximation of the average distortion. In this case the size of the smple set should be large so that the sample vectors represent true F reliably. The theoretical inspection about the approximation, however, is not perfomed rigorously. Thus one might use the time-average distortion without any verification of the approximation. In this paper, the convergence characteristics of the time-average distortions are theoretically investigated when the size of sample vectors or the size of codebook gets large. It has been revealed that if codebook size is large enough, then small sample set is enough to obtain the average distortion by approximatio of the calculated tiem-averaged distortion. Experimental results on synthetic data, which are supporting the analysis, are also provided and discussed.
This paper is concerned with the design of a robust tracking controller using a state observer on a robotic manipulator under the disturbance. The controller is designed to follow a step or ramp reference input without steady state error in the presence of a disturbance and a system parameter variation. In most cases, since all the state vectors are not measured, unmeasurable state vectors must be estimated or reconstructed. A reduced order observer is proposed to estimate unmeasurable state vectors of the non-linear system. Some problems are caused by the Coulomb friction, the disturbance, and the spring effect of a link between the drive motor and the manipulator arm. The state variables, directly measured and estimated by the reduced order observer, are fed back to the controller. When the robot system exhibits the 'limit cycle, the feedback gains initially obtained by optimal control theory are changed. As a result, the limit cycle is eliminated by the new controller gains,
White noise distribution theory over the complex Gaussian space is established on the basis of the recently developed white noise operator theory. Unitarity condition for a white noise operator is discussed by means of the operator symbol and complex Gaussian integration. Concerning the overcompleteness of the exponential vectors, a coherent sate representation of a white noise function is uniquely specified from the diagonal coherent state representation of the associated multiplication operator.
In this paper we present of a class infinite M A (moving-average) sequences of multivariate random vectors. We use the theory of positive dependence to show that in a variety of cases the classes of M A sequences are associated. We then apply the association to establish some probability bounds and moment inequalities for multivariate processes.

In this paper we introduce a class of moving-average(MA) sequences of multivariate random vectors with geometric marginals. The theory of positive dependence is used to show that in various cases the class of MA sequences consists of associated random variables. We utilize positive dependence properties to obtain weakly probability inequality of the multivariate processes.
