  • In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy sliding mode controller for a robot manipulator with passive joints. A robot manipulator with passive joints which is not equipped with actuators is a kind of underactuated systerms. The control of underactuated manipulators is more difficult than that of fully-actuated ones. Though the sliding mode control technique has a robust charocteristics to prrarreter uncertainties and external disturbances, the chattering phenomena becorne one of the major problems in application to the real plant. plant.

  • In this work, a new active hybrid mount featuring piezostack actuator and rubber element is proposed, and its vibration control performance is evaluated by applying a robust frequency-shaped sliding mode controller. After describing the configuration of the proposed mount, vibration control performances are experimentally evaluated. A mount system with four active hybrid mounts is then constructed. To attenuate vibrations on the supported mass, a frequency-shaped sliding mode controller is designed and implemented to the system. Finally, control performances are obtained and presented in time and frequency domains via computer simulation.

  • This paper presents a new method with time-varying boundary layer and input gain, variated by Fuzzy Logic Control(FLC) by means of the system state in Sliding Mode Control (SMC). In addition to the time-varying boundary layer, the time-varying range of the fuzzy membership function has an effect on not only chattering reduction but also fast response characteristics. On the basis of SMC with time-varying boundary and FLC with time-varying input and output range, a computer simulation for inverted pendulum results in elimination of the chattering phenomenon and fast response.

  • This paper presents a robust method for autonomously landing on small bodies. Autonomous landing is accomplished by generating and following reference position and attitude profiles. The position and attitude tracking controllers are based on discrete sliding mode control, which explicitly treats the discrete and impulsive natures of thruster operation. Vision-based inertial navigation is used for autonomous navigation for landing. Numerical simulation is carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in a realistic situation with environmental uncertainties.

  • In this paper a novel sliding mode control is proposed by using $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller. this technique is constructed based on the augmented system with a virtual state and make it has the dynamics of the original system and then $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller has robust characteristics of sliding mode control for existing parameter uncertainty. The reaching phase is excluded by setting initial virtual state value appropriately.

  • In this paper, we address two position control scheme; the lead-lag control and the sliding mode control for a stage system, which is levitated and driven by electric magnetic actuators. This consists of a levitating object (called platen) with 4 permanent magnetic linear synchronous motors in parallel. Each motor generates vertical force for suspension against gravity and propulsion force horizontally as well. The sliding mode control algorithm is more effective than the lead-lag control algorithm to reduce effects from movements and disturbances of other axis.

  • Although most of control methods have been studied in the continuous-time domain, the actual control systems have been implemented using MCU (Micro Control Unit) and/or microprocessors so that the overall systems turn to be sampled-data systems. In this case, the stability criterion of the closed-loop system is not easy to derive. In this paper, a simple stability criterion for the sampled-data system with sliding mode controller is derived.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of designing decentralized sliding mode static output feedback control laws for a class of large scale systems with mismatched uncertainties. We derive a sufficient condition for the existence of a linear switching surface in terms of constrained linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), and we parameterize the linear switching surfaces in terms of the solution matrices to the given constrained LMI existence conditions. We also give an LMI-based algorithm for designing decentralized switching feedback control laws. Finally, we give a design example in order to show the effectiveness of our method.

  • A design principles of discontinuous control are studied and then are applied to position control of D. C. sevo drive fed by a four-quadrant chopper. Variable structure control with sliding mode gives fast dynamic response with no overshoot. And the resulting system bas good robust properties independent of the wide variations of electrical, mechanical parameters and external disturbances without any system identification. But the high frequency chatter component of control input in the sliding mode is undesirarable. A continuous control law that is a approximation to discontinuous control law is used for design.
