북한 고등중학교 수학 교과서 구성 방식의 변화 고찰 (A study on the characteristics of the structure of mathematics textbooks of North Korean secondary school)

  • This study attempts to identify the characteristics of the structure of mathematics textbooks of North Korean high schools. The previous researches on the mathematics textbooks of North Korea show that North Korean mathematics textbooks have a linear structure, which is different from a spiral structure of South Korean textbooks. However, this study found that the textbooks of North Korea published after 1994 indicate that some sections reveal a spiral structure. In addition, most sections of North Korean mathematics textbooks are collectively composed, particularly so in the section of algebra.

  • 본 연구에서는 남북한 초등학교 수학교과서의 외형과 단원체제, 각 영역별 내용 요소의 비중과 도입시기, 문장제의 소재 등 다소 양적인 비교에 초점을 둔 선행연구에 기초하여, 남북한 초등학교 수학교과서를 내용 구성과 전개 과정에서의 구체적인 특징에 주목한 질적인 관점에서 비교.분석하였다. 먼저 내용 구성에 관한 비교 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 학생들의 정의적.인지적 특성을 고려하여 학습 내용을 분산.교차하여 배치하는 남한과 달리 북한에서는 관련된 요소를 집중 배치하는 방식으로 구성되어 있다. 둘째 생활 소재를 통하여 문제상황을 제시하고 점진적이고 구체적인 활동으로 학습 내용을 제시하는 남한과 달리, 인민학교 교과서에서는 여러 형태의 문제를 통하여 학습을 유도하고 있다. 또한 내용 전개의 주요 전략으로 남한은 '안내'를. 북한은'설명'을 따르는 것으로 파악된다. 단계화된 탐구형 질문으로 안내하면서 학습을 유도하는 남한과 달리 북한에서는 의미 있는 설명을 통하여 학습 내용을 다루는 것으로 확인되었다.

남북한 초등학교 교과서의 분수 도입 방식 비교 (A Comparative Study of the Way of Introducing Fractions in Mathematics Textbooks of South and North Korea)

  • 이 연구에서는 남북한 초등학교 교과서에서 분수를 도입하는 과정을 분할분수와 동치분수로 나누어 비교하여 차이점을 파악하고 그에 관해 반성적으로 논의를 전개하였다. 논의 결과, 남한 교과서는 사과와 같은 구체물을 등분할하는 활동의 소재로 사용하고 있으나, 북한 교과서에는 그와 같은 구체물을 실제로 등분할하는 활동은 제시되어 있지 않았다. 남한의 교과서는 연속량의 등분할과 이산량의 등분할을 시간 간격을 두고 다루는데 비해, 북한 교과서는 분수 도입 시점에서 같이 다룬다는 것도 확인하였다. 측정 단위가 붙은 양분수의 사용 측면에서도 남북한 교과서는 차이를 드러냈다. 또한 외연적 방법에 따라 분수를 도입한다는 점에서는 공통적이지만, 남한과 북한은 활동과 의미에 어느 정도 초점을 두는가에 있어서 차이를 보였다. 동치분수를 도입하는 방식을 비교한 결과, 세 가지 차이점을 확인하였다. 가장 큰 차이는 동치분수를 구하는 직접적인 방법을 제공하는가, 동치분수의 특성과 동치 분수를 구하는 방법에 대한 탐구를 자극하는가하는 측면에서 확인할 수 있었다.

남북한 중등학교 수학교육의 통합방안 모색 (A Comparative Study on the Secondary School Mathematics Education of South and North Korea)

  • There have recently been increasing exchanges between South and North Korea in many areas of society, involving politics, economics, culture, education. In response to these developments, research activities are more strongly demanded in each of these areas to help prepare for the final unification of the two parts of the nation. In the area of mathematics education, scholars have started to conduct comparative studies of mathematics education in South and North Korea. As a response to the growing demand of the time, in this thesis we compared the secondary mathematics education in South Korea with that in North Korea. To begin with, we examined the background of education, in North Korea, particularly predominant ideological, epistemological and teaching theoretical aspects of education in North Korea. Thereafter, we compared the mathematics curriculum of South Korea with that of North Korea. On the basis of these examinations, we compared the secondary school mathematics textbooks of South and North Korea, and we attempted to suggest a guideline for researches preparing for the unification of the mathematics curriculum of South and North Korea. As a communist society, North Korea awards the socialist ideology the supreme rank and treats all school subjects as instrumental tools that are subordinated to the dominant communist ideology. On the other hand, under the socialist ideology North Korea also emphasizes the achievement of the objective of socialist economic development by expanding the production of material wealth. As such, mathematics in North Korea is seen as a tool subject for training skilled technical hands and fostering science and technology, hence promoting the socialist material production and economic development. Hence, the mathematics education of North Korea adopts a so-called "awakening teaching method," and emphasizes the approaches that combine intuition with logical explanation using materials related with the ideology or actual life. These basic viewpoints of North Korea on mathematics education are different from those of South Korea, which emphasize the problem-solving ability and acquisition of academic mathematical knowledge, and which focus on organizing as well as discovering knowledge of learners' own accord. In comparison of the secondary school mathematics textbooks used in South and North Korea, we looked through external forms, contents, quantity of each area of school mathematics, viewpoints of teaching, and term. We have identified similarities in algebra area and differences in geometry area especially in teaching sequence and approaching method. Many differences are also found in mathematical terms. Especially, it is found that North Korea uses mathematical terms in Hangul more actively than South Korea. We examined the specific topics that are treated in both South and North Korea, "outer-center & inner-center of triangle" and "mathematical induction", and identified such differences more concretely. Through this comparison, it was found that the concrete heterogeneity in the textbooks largely derive from the differences in the basic ideological viewpoints between South and North Korea. On the basis of the above findings, we attempted to make some suggestions for the researches preparing for the unification in the area of secondary mathematics education.

  • The aim of this study is to determine a way to make mathematics textbooks after Korea is reunited. For this, the analysis of curriculum in SouthㆍNorth Korea must be made before unification. Therefore this study compares and analyzes the contents, organization and mathematics terms used in the latest middle school textbooks(1995-1996). And it also compared and contrasted the two textbooks while determining the best points of each. In this way, this study will be a very useful guide for making new educational curriculum and new mathematics textbooks after South and North Korea be unified.

중학교 근사값 단원 학습 지도 방향 탐색: 남북한 교과서 비교를 중심으로 (A Study on the Teaching "Approximate Value" in Secondary School: Focused on the Comparison of Mathematics Textbooks of South and North Korea)

  • This study attempts to compare the topic "approximate value" in mathematics text-books of the 2nd year of South Korean junior high schools and that of the 3rd year of North Korean high schools. In addition, a survey questionnaire was distributed to junior and senior high school students as well as to mathematics teachers in South Korea. Based on the results of the survey, this study attempts to uncover the issues within the current teaching methods of "approximate value" and proposes the directions in which the teaching of approximate value should go in order to enhance mathematical thinking power and creativity of the students. First, it Is necessary to teach students how an error applies to the real world. To accomplish this end, it may be worthwhile to consider introducing the relative errors with more seriousness. Second, it is more important to teach the way of thinking which is concealed in the background of the calculation methods of approximate values than to simply teach mere calculation methods. Third, it is necessary to teach the calculation of approximate value with more realistic examples. Fourth, It is needed to teach students what the differences are when the terminology of "approximately" and "about" is used in real life and in mathematics.

수학 교과서 비교 연구 논문에 관한 분석 (A Meta-analysis on Comparative Studies of Mathematics Textbooks)

  • The purpose of this study is to find research areas that were less represented by the researchers of mathematics textbooks and to provide feedback for the research and development of mathematics curriculum and textbooks. In order to complete this study, we analyzed comparative studies of mathematics textbooks published in Korean. This study analyzed 107 comparative studies published until recently based on following aspects: countries studied (North Korea, U.S.A., and Japan), Math curriculum studied (6th and 7th mathematics curriculum), and Math contents studied (probability and statistics) and etc. The result of this study suggests that the content area of creative problem solving was particularly less represented by the studies published and require more concern from the mathematics education researchers

  • 한국과 일본은 인접국가로서 역사적으로 관계가 깊고, 문화나 교육적 환경이 비슷하다. 이 연구의 목적은 한국과 일본의 초등학교 5, 6학년 수학 교과서를 비교하는 데 있다. 먼저, 남한과 북한, 한국과 인도, 연변의 수학교과서를 비교한 것과 한국과 일본(분수, 평면도형)의 비교연구의 선행연구를 고찰하여 비교의 기준을 마련하였다. 이 기준을 토대로 한국과 일본의 초등학교 수학 교과서의 단원명과 단원체계를 비교하였다. 이어서 양국 5, 6학년 교과서의 영역별 세부내용을 비교하였다.

피타고라스 정리의 지도에 대한 남북한 비교 (Comparative Study on Teaching of Pythagorean Theorem in South and North Korea)

  • Researchers have started to conduct comparative studies of mathematics education in South and North Korea. Most of these studies have a tendency to compare with the curriculum of South and North Korea in the macroscopic standpoint. But microscopic comparative studies on each topic of school mathematics have not been attempted yet. Microscopic studies as well as macroscopic studies are required to prepare for unification the curriculum of South and North Korea. This paper attempts to compare the contents related pythagorean theorem which is dealt with in secondary school mathematics textbook of South and North Korea. Through this study, meaningful differences between textbooks are founded and some implications are obtained. Specially, 'cutting off and rearranging' method needs to be taken into consideration for active learning. Also the construction of the figure using the pythagorean theorem needs to be dealt with in order to develop the logical thinking.

독일 통일 전후 동.서독 중등학교 수학교육의 현황과 수학교과서의 비교 분석 및 이의 활용 방안 연구 (A study on the state of mathematics education and on the comparison of middle school mathematics textbooks before unification and in unified germany)

  • This study contains three themes as follows concerning the state of mathematics education and the textbooks in east and west germany before unification and in unified germany. The first subject is the investigations of the organization of the school systems and of the syllabus of mathematics in east germany in those days. Second, we analyzed the process of preparation for integration before unification, the nature of integration policies and the convention for the unification. Finally, we compare and analyze the similarities and differences in east and west german mathematics textbooks for middle school students combining those in south and north Korea, and further we suggest tasks to be studied in future research.
