Research on Factors for Job Satisfaction of Library Volunteers for the Disabled (도서관 장애인서비스 자원봉사자의 직무만족 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • The research analyzes the factors that influence the job satisfaction of library volunteers for the disabled. Based on comparable literature review, this research extracts comprehensive factors that affect job satisfaction. The research found that job satisfaction depended on marital status, age, education and the channel that a volunteer went through to participate in assisting the disabled. Self-motivation also influenced the job satisfaction, but altruistic motivation did not. For environmental factors, compensation, prior experience, and roles did not influence the job satisfaction. For the factors related to the awareness of the value of volunteering, overall expectation and fitness of tasks were found to be passive with job satisfaction.

Study on Awareness and Factors Influencing on Duty of Cooking Soldier (취사병들의 직무에 대한 인식과 직무만족 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to help improving the quality of military food service as identifying awareness, attitudes and satisfaction of cooking soldier on their duties and providing basic data to find out alternatives on the basis of identified data. The analysis results are described as follows. For general demographics of subjects, sergeants consisted of the highest percentage of population as 38.8% in terms of the rank. For educational background, the percentage of graduates or college students was 82.5%. For the characteristics of job performance of cooking soldier, those who studied entirely different courses from cookery and became to work as cooking soldier were 92(89.3%) of total subjects. For the question why they became to work as cooking soldier, the response that they didn't know the reason showed the highest percentage as 63.1%. Those who selected cooking soldier because they were interested in cookery were only 25.2%. And 94.2% of the population had no certificates related to cookery. With respect to awareness on training period to carry on duties as cooking soldier, 3 months were selected as the most appropriate period as 36.9%. In accordance with research on job percentage of cooking soldier, 'cleaning and washing' consisted of the highest percentage among ordinary duties as 16.8%, followed by 'cooking' as 12.3% and 'food dispensing' as 11.8%. This study suggests as follows on the basis of the results of this researches. Cooking soldier requires expertise, but the privates with short period of service are discharged from military service when they are accustomed to their duties and become experts. Accordingly, the cooking soldier system could not achieve more than its ordinary performance. Therefore, it is required to post non-commissioned officers who can serve for a long time as the special resources.

Research on dental laboratory technician's image perceived by health allied college students (보건계열학생이 인지하는 치과기공사의 이미지 조사연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the image and the awareness of dental laboratory technicians in health allied college students. Methods: The subject of this research are 431 health-related major students who are selected by convenience sampling from Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 401 respondents were analyzed except for 30 incomplete ones. The collected data is statistically analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Packages for Social Science 12.0. SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The findings of the study were as follows: As a result of general awareness about dental laboratory technicians, the health allied college students knew 83.0% about dental laboratory technician as a job. Respondents showed high recognition about dental laboratory technician as a job($3.62{\pm}0.31$), which showed that the health allied college students took a favorable view of dental laboratory in general. There were significant difference in dental laboratory technician image with age, gender(P<.05). Conclusion: It is required to develop programs such as proactive public relations or campaign via mass media that could enhance the public recognition about dental laboratory technician up to one of professional as required. It is also necessary that dental laboratory technicians make steady efforts for self-development to enhance their own job philosophy and skills in the level of quality, while they need various educations for building up their own favorable personality and positive ideas.

Factor Analysis and Intergroup Awareness Investigation of Workers' Safety in Logistic Center (물류센터 근로자의 안전인식에 대한 요인분석 및 집단간 인식 비교)

  • This study is to examine the workers' awareness of the safety in logistic centers. For that purpose, the exploratory factor analysis of workers' safety awareness in logistic centers was performed at first, and the 6 variables extracted from the factor analysis were then used to investigate the difference in intergroup awareness of the safety environment in the logistic centers. We administered a survey to 147 workers attending the logistic centers and collected data from them. The results of the study showed that the intergroup awareness of the safety environment turned out to be statistically different from each other in terms of working environment, safe behavior, work risk, safety knowledge and effort, risk justification and compromising attitudes. Experiences in industrial accidents influenced awareness of working environment, work risk and risk justification. The group who experienced accidents is more likely to feel risky and unsatisfied with working place, and their awareness toward risk justification was high as well. It was also observed that there exists awareness difference between manager group and worker group. The group who manages the working place showed more positive awareness of working environment, safe behavior, work risk, safety knowledge and effort, risk justification and compromising attitudes than the worker group. On the contrary, the worker group showed high recognition in risk of working place, and felt that they are willing to compromise on safety for increasing production. The scale of the logistic center produced negative influence on awareness of safety. The group in small logistic center showed the highest awareness in safety, whereas the group in large logistic center with more than 100 workers showed the highest awareness in risk. They are more likely to deviate from correct and safe work procedures due to over-familiarity with the job, as well. The findings suggest that there is a need for the safety management and education to change the workers' understanding and attitudes towards safety.

The Effects of Employees' Social Intelligence and Positive Psychology Capital in Foodservice Industry on Job Satisfaction (외식 종사원의 사회지능과 긍정심리자본이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to understand the influence of social intelligence and positive psychology capital in foodservice employees on job satisfaction and to analyze whether employees' positive psychology capital plays a moderating role between social intelligence and job satisfaction. Based on total 316 samples obtained from empirical research, this study reviewed the reliability and verified a total of 2 hypotheses and 1 proposition using the SPSS program. The results showed that social awareness (${\beta}$=0.546) and social skill (${\beta}$=0.152) in foodservice employees, were indicated to have positive (+) influence upon job satisfaction. And, employees' positive psychology capital (${\beta}$=0.307) had a significant positive (+) effect on the job satisfaction. However, the effect of the employees' social intelligence upon job satisfaction was not found to be moderated by positive psychology capital. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

A Study on the Comprehension of the Industrial Safety Policy Direction by Job Characteristics of Corporate Safety Managers (기업체 안전관리자의 직무특성에 따른 산업안전 정책방향 이해도에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the comprehension of the occupational safety policy direction by job characteristics of the safety managers at 211 workplace selected under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. As for the characteristics of the subjects' firms, there was difference in their perception on the occupational safety policy direction by their region, type, scale, and the existence of labor union. Regarding the job characteristics of the subjects, there was difference in the comprehension of the occupational safety policy direction by their age, experience and department. This study suggests that the government policy as well as the awareness about safety by management and safety managers need to be changed by analyzing the comprehension of occupational safety policy direction by the job characteristics of corporate occupational safety managers.

Information Effect on Organic Vegetable Purchase Interest through Consumer Preferences and Awareness

  • This study aims to determine the effect of consumer preferences and awareness on interest in organic vegetables. Factors observed in this study were information, consumer preferences, consumer awareness, and consumer buying interest toward organic vegetables. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. The data sampling technique uses accidental sampling method. The data was collected from respondents consisted of 100 consumers of five major retailers in the city of Bogor in Indonesia. The respondents consist of 80 female (80%), and 57 respondents are 25-34 years old (57%). In terms of education, type of job and monthly income of respondent, the sample can be categorized as middle-class segment. The data obtained were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results of this study indicate that the information obtained by consumers significantly and positively affects consumer preferences and consumer awareness of organic vegetables. Then, consumer preferences and consumer awareness significantly and positively affect the interest of consumers to buy organic vegetables. Consumer preference for organic vegetables is still considered quite low. The factors that influence the low consumer preference are the price of organic vegetables, which is more expensive than non-organic vegetables and the unattractive packaging of organic vegetables.

The Study about the Job Satisfaction and Independent Establishment of Physical Therapy of Working Physical Therapist in Gyeongnam Region (경남지역 물리치료사의 직무만족도 및 자립개설에 대한 조사연구)

  • This study aimed to suggest basic data required to improve the awareness of physical therapy and examine physical therapists' awareness of the independent establishment of physical therapy clinics. To do so, 175 physical therapists in Gyeongnam areas were surveyed. Their general characteristics were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10.0, and their current workplace, working conditions and job satisfaction were analyzed using chi square distributions. The awareness of independent establishment was analyzed using the Excel program. The statistical significance (a) in this study was set at 0.05. Their interest in physical therapy was surveyed by gender, and 52.2% of males showed interest, higher than that of females. The satisfaction level of those who work in general hospitals with self-development was 32.8%, higher than that of those who work in clinics. To the question about independent establishment, 83.4% agreed to independent establishment, and 57.5% answered that the first thing to do before independent establishment is acquiring professional theoretical knowledge and clinical treatment skills. In terms of the areas of establishment, 45.2% answered physical therapy for the musculoskeletal system, and 39.7% answered that the awareness of doctors is the biggest obstacle to independent establishment. It will be necessary to ensure physical therapists acquire professional theoretical knowledge and clinical treatment skills and to improve awareness between physical therapists and doctors. In addition, it is considered that departments related to physical therapy need to be unified as a four-year course, and the independent establishment of physical therapy clinics is required to be legalized.

Development and Application of the Scientific Inquiry-based STEAM Education Program about Earthquakes (지진에 대한 과학 탐구 기반의 STEAM 교육 프로그램 개발과 적용)

  • The purposes of this study were to develop a scientific inquiry-based STEAM education program and to investigate its effect on changing middle school students' self-efficacy in science, job awareness, and attitudes toward STEM. A scientific inquiry-based STEAM program was developed with the theme of 'earthquakes', using the ADBA model, which was taking up the total of six class periods. The final program, which had been revised and completed after being pre-tested with middle school students, was implemented to 105 third-graders of middle school in a metropolitan city. One sample pre-post paired t-test before and after applying the program to the same group was conducted, and its effectiveness was analyzed in terms of self-efficacy in science, job awareness, attitudes toward science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Results showed that the STEAM program on the theme of 'earthquakes' demonstrated its effect on improving the students' of self-efficacy in science subject and their awareness of science-related jobs. Furthermore, this program indicated a statistical significance in improving middle school students' attitudes, awareness, and abilities, values, and continuing interest towards science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Therefore, we suggest that this scientific inquiry based STEAM program be used to help students to improve their scientific investigation skills as well as their creative and integrated thinking abilities in schools.

A study on the Safety Awareness and Safety Practice Behavior of Adult Learners: Focusing on 「Civic Safety Culture College」 in Changwon City (성인학습자들의 안전의식과 안전생활실천 연구: 창원지역 「시민안전문화대학」 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the safety awareness and safety practice behavior of adult learners who participated in "civic safety culture college" was held in Changwon city. We carried out a questionnaire survey that was targeted at 150 citizens, but 132 citizens were included finally. Data collected were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 statistical program. Analysis methods were t-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression. The results were as follows. First, safety awareness point was an average of 4.17 point which was higher levels. Area showing the highest safety awareness was fire safety. Safety practice behavior point was an over intermediate level of an average of 3.58 point. Second, safety practice behavior had statistically significant difference according to sex(t=2.58, p=.01), education(t=-2.57, p=.01), job(t=-1.96, p=.05), housing(t=3.65, p<.001). Third, there was a positive correlation between home safety awareness(r=.28, p<.001), traffic safety awareness(r=.37, p<.001), fire safety awareness(r=.37, p<.001), emergency care awareness(r=.45, p<.001) and safety practice behavior. Fourth, safety practice behavior was related to the emergency care awareness(${\beta}$=.34, p=.002), this factor accounted for 19.5% of the variability of the safety practice behavior. These results are expected to be very important baseline data for many different businesses and program development for strengthening of safety awareness and spreading of safety culture in Changwon city.
