The prevalence of developmental disabilities is increasing worldwide over time. Developmental issues in infancy or early childhood may cause learning difficulties or behavioral problem in school age, further adversely affecting adolescent quality of life, which finally lead to low socioeconomic status in family, increase in medical expenses, and other relevant issues in various ways. Early childhood has brain plasticity, which means there is a high chance of recovering from developmental issues by early detection and timely intervention. Pediatricians are placed an ideal position to meet with young children till 6 years of age, of which age range is the time applicable to early intervention. Determining child's developmental status can be made by 2 pathways such as developmental surveillance and developmental screening tests. For better results, pediatricians should update their knowledge about developmental issues, risk factors, and screening techniques through varying educational program or other relevant educating materials. This paper will update reports on the prevalence of developmental disabilities and review the recent results of the Korean developmental screening test and discuss relevant issues. Finally, it will be addressed the pediatrician's role in early detecting developmental issues and timely intervention.

Plant cells from which the cell walls have been enzymatically or mechanically removed are called protoplasts. The protoplasts are theoretically totipotent and can be used as sources of somatic cell fusion in practical breeding programs. Wild Solanum species have often been used as sources of important agricultural traits including diverse disease resistance. However, they cannot often be directly applied to breeding programs due to their sexual incompatibility with S. tuberosum. Somatic hybridization via protoplast fusion is one of the ideal methods to overcome this limitation and to introgress certain traits into S. tuberosum. This technique has still widely been used in potato since the first fusion was reported in 1970s. Therefore, this review highlights general perspectives of protoplast fusion and discusses the application of protoplast fusion in potato breeding.

Bronchiectasis, which is characterized by irreversibly damaged and dilated bronchi, causes significant symptoms, poor quality of life, and increased economic burden and mortality rates. Despite its increasing prevalence and clinical significance, bronchiectasis was previously regarded as an orphan disease, and ideal treatment of this disease has been poorly understood. The European Respiratory Society and British Thoracic Society have recently published guidelines to assist physicians in the clinical field. Guidelines and reports suggest comprehensive management that includes both non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment. Physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation are two of the most important non-pharmacologic therapies in bronchiectasis patients; long-term inhaled antibiotics and macrolide therapy have gained significant evidence in reducing exacerbation risk in frequent exacerbators. In this review, we summarize recent updates on bronchiectasis treatment to prevent exacerbation and manage clinical deterioration.

Nano-delivery systems, such as nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, and nanoliposomes, are carriers that have been used to enhance the chemical as well as physical stability and bioavailability of bioactive compound. Food-grade nano-delivery system can be produced with edible biopolymers including proteins and carbohydrates. In addition to the low-toxicity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability of these biopolymers, their functional characteristics, such as their ability to bind hydrophobic bioactive compounds and form a gel, make them potential and ideal candidates for the fortification of bioactive compounds in functional dairy foods. This review focuses on different types of nano-delivery systems and edible biopolymers as delivery materials. In addition, the applications of food-grade nano-delivery systems to dairy foods are also described.

The aim of this study is to examine the consumer information behavior and consumer satisfaction in virtual community, and analyse influential variables on these. The data for this study were collected from members of virtual community for cosmetics in DAUM ( www.daum.net) through self-report questionnaires. Main findings are following; Virtual community consumer experiences satisfaction for products including information, and information behavior. And the greater information behaviors are associated with the greater satisfaction. And the virtual community consumers' information behavior and satisfaction don't differ largely by internet variables and socio-demographic variables. On the other hand, virtual community consumers' information behavior and satisfaction are associated with psychological variables like community membership, information wants, enduring involvements. In conclusion, these satisfactions make the effect of ‘feedback’ to information behavior, so these virtual community is able to be activated. And this also means that virtual community is Ideal space for consumer to expand information behavior.

As we enter into the 21C, it is important to reassess the knowledge and skills that are necessary for individual consumers and consumer professionals to be able to function efficiently in the rapidly changing society, and also to develop teaching tools fit to enhance the teaming of such knowledge and skills. The Purpose of this study is three-folds: 1) to identify key competencies necessary in the 21C consumer education, especially in higher education institutions, 2) to suggest 'experiential learning' as an ideal pedagogical tool for consumer education in the 21C century, and 3) to provide an example from an undergraduate classroom in the U.S. that applies 'service learning' as a teaching tool in a consumer studies curriculum. Discussions about the potentials for expanding this learning strategy are also provided.

Vocal fold scar disrupts structure of lamina propria and causes significant change in vocal fold tissue biomechanics, resulting in a range of voice problems that often significantly compromise patient quality of life. Although several therapeutic management have been offered in an attempt to improve vocal fold scar, the ideal treatment has not yet been found. Recently, several tissue engineering technique for vocal fold scar using growth factors, several cells, and scaffolds have been described in tissue culture and animal models. Several growth factors such as hepatocyte growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, and transforming growth factor beta 3 for therapy and prevention of vocal fold scar have been studied. Cell types to regenerate vocal folds in scarring tissue have been introduced autologous or scarred vocal fold fibroblast and adult mesenchymal stem cells. Decellularized organ matrix and several hyaluronic acid materials have used as scaffolds for vocal fold scar.

Polypyrrole(PPy) was composite with MWNT to attain cycle stable by chemical method. We have been considered PPy is the ideal material for high energy density electrochemical capacitor due to pseudo capacitor reaction. In this study we found that increase in cycle life due to composite MWNT. Also PPy/MWNT composite material have resulted larger capacitance and exhibits better electrochemical behavior. The structural feature was investigated by using SEM and TEM. The PPy/CNT composite is not only a promising ultracapacitor material for energy storages but also has a good possibility because of its great capacitive properties, simple preparation and low cost.

Let R be a commutative ring with identity, R[X] the polynomial ring over R, ∗ a radical operation on R and ⋆ a radical operation of finite character on R[X]. In this paper, we give Hilbert basis theorem for rings with ∗-Noetherian spectrum. More precisely, we show that if (I^∗R[X])^⋆ = (IR[X])^⋆ and (I^∗R[X])^⋆ ∩ R = I^∗ for all ideals I of R, then R has ∗-Noetherian spectrum if and only if R[X] has ⋆-Noetherian spectrum. This is a generalization of a well-known fact that R has Noetherian spectrum if and only if R[X] has Noetherian spectrum.

The poems of Shin Suk-ju can be divided into two periods around the political change by King Sejo; his poems from the former period show that the poet enjoyed abundant pride and leisurely spirit in the self-satisfying world driven by his determination to maintain a pure heart and save and awaken the people during the reign of King Sejong. His ideology of awakening the people, however, was the product of his heroic consciousness to achieve immortal fame. It was his heroic consciousness and determination to sacrifice his life for fame according to the mandate from Heaven that made him join the political change by King Sejo. His poems from the latter period clearly reveal that the way of his life to pursue fame didn't bring him spiritual satisfaction and happiness. He confessed that his conscience was destroyed as he joined King Sejo in his political change and the deeds he achieved and further his life itself were all in vain. He lost the values or orders he pursued, which caused instability in his life. Facing such instability head-on, he argued that right and wrong, true and false, and good and evil mentioned in the world were all subjective and groundless. Furthermore, he realized all the things and creatures of the world were nothing but phantoms. Those perceptions he had were based on Madhyamaka of Buddhism. Going through such a thinking process, the poet wrote about his mentality of a false reputation with ideal mentality. Heroic consciousness, Buddhist thinking, and pursuit of mentality of a false reputation found in his poems make also frequent appearances in the poems by major literary men in the latter half of the 15th century such as Seo Geo-jeong. His serious searches to overcome his conscientious agony and sense of futility about life had influences on the attitudes toward life and literature of the official literary men of the times. Seong Hyeon's statement that the major literary figures of the times inherited the literary tradition of Shin Suk-ju was not a rhetoric by courtesy.
