Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate accident cases involving electronic assistive devices, to determine how these accidents can be avoided and to devise preventative instructions for the handicapped who use these devices. Methods : This study was carried out from July 20 to October 3, 2015. A consent-based survey was conducted via mail and mobile phones targeting 700 electronic assistive device users, of which questionnaires from 290 users were collected and used in the analysis. Results : Accidents involving electronic assistive devices were investigated, especially the causes of the accidents and accident prevention education, as well as the status of the electronic assistive devices. The most common accident types were collision and falling, and it was found that the victims of the accidents usually suffered severe injury to their lower limbs. Most users used electronic assistive devices every day but rarely wore a safety belt because of discomfort. There were more incidents of collision and falling for older aged handicapped users, and the injury rate to the lower limbs was highest in handicapped elderly aged 50 years or older. Conclusions : In order to prevent accidents with electronic assistive devices in the future, a or management organizations must prepare specific safety guidelines and manage these accidents.

As of 2016, the total traffic usage of handicapped people were 24.8%. Buses (25.6%) have the highest rate of travel, with the exception of "walking (33.5%)" as the main means of transportation for these handicapped people. Therefore, the Seoul Metropolitan Government expanded the low-floor bus, which is a means of transportation for the underbelly, to 30% by 2015, but the satisfaction level of mobility improvement of the underbelly was only 2% To 55%. In fact, increasing the percentage of low-floor buses is merely a superficial solution, and there are many restrictions on solving fundamental problems with limited budgets. Therefore, in this study, we use statistical analysis R, with a simple data manipulation and visualization function, to grasp the living area and life pattern of handicapped people in Seoul city.

A survey was undertaken among a group of dentists working at private dental clinics to investigate the state of dental care and the level of education and training in the dental care to people with handicaps. Forty four percents of dental clinics take care of one more patients per month. The types of handicaps were physical, mental, sensory handicap and autism. The common problems are difficulty in communication and delay of treatment. Forty nine percents of dentists got education and nineteen percents had clinical experience for dental care of handicapped patients. Most of dentists felt necessity of training program and establishment of specialized dental hospital supported by government for the handicapped. This study indicated the necessity of undergraduate and postgraduate education and clinical training for dental care of handicapped patients.

At this time, our country's social welfare system for the handicapped is switching to increase independence, education is the most important. This study increases the quality of Visual handicapped people's life which have limit to learn and reduces their inconvenience which may occur during their independent school life through the development of the system which helps them safely to reach their destination by themselves using IT technologies in an educational institute which helps their ability to get information and be independent. This study supports Visual handicapped people to move safely by using cell phone which is necessary items for most modern people, RFID tags and white canes with antenna and reader which read the information installed in the raised blocks outside of school buildings and in the hall or aisle inside of buildings and inform the path by voice and vibration.

A white cane is used by many people who are blind or visually impaired. The studies and developments in the field of smart electronic white cane have been progressed to improve walking safety of the visually handicapped person. In this paper, we describe a situation-awareness white cane which support and guide walking of the visually handicapped person by giving information of surrounding situation through connection of a white cane and a mobile device. There are easily accessible buttons in the situation-awareness white cane. These buttons is connected with the mobile device by blue-tooth, so by pushing these buttons, the visually handicapped person can receive sound-guidance. As a result, the visually handicapped person can walk more safely by getting more information of situation.

The purpose of this study were to investigate the chief complain and dental treatment needs in handicapped patient. This study examines treatment records of 1025 patients in free dental clinic for handicapped patients during 10 years from 1999 to 2008. The results were as follows : 5.8 average visit per patient; mean patient age was 25; 544 patients was younger than 20. Handicapped patients classified according to types of disability. Crippled disorder were 19.1%, brain disorder were 4.5%, visual disorder were 3.1%, auditory disorder were 4.1%, speech disorder were 0.9%, mental retardation were 67.1%, and developmental disorder were 25.1%. Performed treatments were 322 scaling, 13 fluoride varnish, 727 preventive resin restoration, 1296 resin restoration, 600 amalgam restoration, 46 GI restoration, 612 extraction, 289 pulp treatment of primary teeth, 75 pulp treatment of permanent teeth and 138 stainless steel crown restoration. Many handicapped patients have some difficulty to dental treatment. They have limited access to dental care, which is compounded by a shortage of skilled dental professionals who are willing to treat these population and financial problems.

According to the increase in number of persons who have physical impediments in this country, the importance on the convenient facility for physically disabled persons is gradually being extended as well. This thesis is focused on the small scale interior design plan for the disabled persons in diminutive symptoms among several kinds of congenital or postnatal impediments. Just like the other disabled persons, the public convenient facility or special space is not required, but I have reviewed the matters to have to be improved and the present residing shape of the disabled persons under the diminutive symptoms in order to provide the interior design available for the joint uses together by and between non-handicapped and handicapped persons as such undersized persons have recently been differentiated together with handicapped persons within the small scale house space.

This paper presents an analysis of the short-range radar noise adjusting the angle of the radar reflector for the handicapped aids and suggests a complementary filter that combines a moving average filter with a heuristic algorithm to remove the radar noise. It also shows the effectiveness of the suggested filter by comparing the experiments results between the Kalman filter and the suggested filter.

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has resulted in rapid increase in the qualitative and quantitative information that can be accessed by information technology. Furthermore an enormous amount of information is provided in various formats. However, there are a group of people who are not able to even approach to targeted information due to physical or environmental problems. Visually handicapped users constitute a class of these users. In this paper, a method of developing user interface for web-based education service is described for the visually handicapped users to access information more efficiently. First, this paper analyzed the problems of visually handicapped users to access information targeting representative domestic sites that supply education services. And based on the results of the above analyses, Nest, this paper explains the web-based education service interface implementation method according to types of the content to be delivered. Lastly, the validity of this method is provided by testing a web page based on the implementation method according to the types of content.

This paper presents design and control of a wheelchair robot for handicapped or elderly persons. Novel multi-functional design concepts are introduced. The first function is to balance the chair always parallel to the flat ground so that the driver feels comfortable when he/she drives on the slope. The second function is to help the driver to stand up by pushing the chair so that the driver can get out from the chair with ease. The third design is to make it foldable for easy carrying for automobiles. The last function is an immediate stop and start protection. Experimental studies are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and functionality of each mechanical design.
