The Impact of Convergence on Business Performance;An Empirical Study on Korean ICT Sector

  • The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Determinant factors in this transformation process are deregulations and technological advancements. From the value chain perspective, industry convergence plays the most crucial role in the transformation of the established telecommunications and media industries. The objective of this paper is to validate the impact of convergence on the business performance using empirical data. To identify the various effects driven by industry convergence, we analyzed the relationships between firm's degree of convergence and the business performance using regression analysis. From the empirical result with the 2002-2005 data, it was found that the convergence across ICT sectors improves the business performance measured by Tobin's q significantly and this is only a recent phenomenon. These results are consistent with the conjecture that higher degree of convergence is becoming more associated with higher market value.

  • 최근 공연예술에서 장르 융합형 콜라보레이션과 기술 융합형 콜라보레이션의 물리적인 융합(convergence)은 서로 다른 목표와 이질적인 속성을 전략적으로 융합시킴으로서 대중의 기대수요에 부응하며 새로운 가치의 융합 콘텐츠를 이끌어내는 실험적인 형태로 발전하고 있다. 융합시도 중 발생되는 문제점을 보완하며 공연의 완성도를 높이기 위해서는 각 매체분야 전문가들의 효율적인 협업과정이 연구되고 개선되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 다매체 융합공연 프로토타입(Prototype) 제작을 통해 시대의 요구에 상응하는 융합공연의 효율적인 협업제작방안을 연구하고자 한다. 공연제작과정을 프리프로덕션(Pre-Production), 프로덕션(Production)으로 분류하여 라이브 연극과 사전제작 영상 애니메이션, 두 매체를 활용한 융합공연의 효율적인 협업제작과정을 작품선정 및 연출방향 설정, 인적구성, 제작일정 계획수립, 시각화과정, 공연연습 및 리허설 등의 과정으로 연구하고자 한다. 융합공연 콘텐츠 기획, 제작방식의 변화, 융합 콘텐츠 간 특수성의 이해를 바탕으로 지속적인 다매체 융합공연을 위한 효율적인 협업제작과정 연구가 진행되어야 융합 콘텐츠 산업 발전 체계화 및 활성화가 가능할 것이다.

특허인용관계를 활용한 산업융합 파급효과 연구 (A Study on Impacts of Industrial Convergence Using Patent Citations)

  • 산업융합을 통한 기술혁신으로 경제적 성과와 고용창출 성과를 제고시키려는 정부차원의 노력이 도전적으로 추진되고 있다. 그러나 산업융합이 어느 정도 진행되고 있는지, 산업융합의 효과가 전산업에 어느 정도 파급되고 있는지, 산업융합 유발효과가 가장 큰 산업은 무엇인지에 대한 정량적 연구는 매우 부족한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 산업융합이 어떻게 전개되고 있는지(산업별 산업융합 비중), 전산업에 어느 정도의 파급효과를 내었는지(산업별 파급효과), 특정산업을 진흥할 때 산업융합 유발효과가 어느 정도인지(산업별 산업융합 유발효과)를 특허인용관계를 이용하여 정량적으로 측정하고 분석하였다. 산업융합 여부는 국제특허분류-산업연관분류 연계표 및 특허의 인용관계를 활용하여 판단하였다. 산업융합 즉, 산업간 기술융합(예: 전자기기부분품-자동차)이 전산업에 미치는 영향은 특허인용정보를 활용한 산업융합연관표를 작성하여 도출하였다. 연구결과를 활용하여 산업융합이 전산업에 끼친 파급효과와 특정 산업을 진흥시켰을 때 나타나는 산업융합 유발효과를 예측하여 보았다. 산출결과의 정확도와 의미는 추가적인 검증이 필요하나 산업별 산업융합의 진행 정도, 파급효과 및 유발효과에 대한 정량적인 분석을 산업융합연관표를 작성하여 처음 시도하였다는데 의의가 있다.

INEXACT-NEWTON METHOD FOR SOLVING OPERATOR EQUATIONS IN INFINITE-DIMENSIONAL SPACES

  • In this paper, we develop an inexact-Newton method for solving nonsmooth operator equations in infinite-dimensional spaces. The linear convergence and superlinear convergence of inexact-Newton method under some conditions are shown. Then, we characterize the order of convergence in terms of the rate of convergence of the relative residuals. The present inexact-Newton method could be viewed as the extensions of previous ones with same convergent results in finite-dimensional spaces.

창의적 인재 양성을 위한 IT & 디자인 분야의 융합 교육 연구 (A Study on Convergence Education of IT & Design for Training Creative Talent)

  • In order to solve the complicated problems faced by the spread of diversified information devices and changes in the user environment in recent years, the importance of training creative talent as well as the need for interdisciplinary convergent approach have emerged. As a future technology development project, convergence education with the design sector for training creative talent in the IT field is also urgent. In this study, we recognized the importance and problems of the convergent approach between IT and design sector by examining the convergence theory and cases with a focus on effective creativity development and sought a new direction for convergence education in the future by investigating the awareness on the convergent approach of college students and analyzing the results. This will be able to have significance as a basic study for discovering creative and innovative convergent talent in the IT and design sector in the future and strengthening basic competence.

Tracing the Convergence of Industrial Sectors: Has the 4th Revolution Arrived Already? Or Are We on the Track?

  • While an increasing number of people across diverse audience groups are engaging in discussions about the onset of the 4th industrial revolution, it remains challenging to pinpoint the symptoms of this phenomenon. This research, recognizing this difficulty, employed a time-series data-tuned cluster analysis to uncover evidence of industrial and technological convergence among the United States, Japan, and Korea by using time-series industrial R&D data and industrial wage data as indirect measures of industrial competitiveness and technology convergence. The results showed that the recent U.S. case of 2010-2019 data clearly featured the" phenomenon Tesla", which shows the convergence of Aerospace, Transportation equipment, and software. Supporting evidence for that comes from the results from the previous periods in the three countries, which shows a high concentration of cor manufacturing sectors, but no symptoms of convergence.

현대 패션에서 보여지는 컨버전스 문화 현상에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Cultural Convergence Phenomenon in Contemporary Fashion)

  • The definition of convergence employed in this study is a sociocultural phenomenon where different patterns, genres or fields coexist along with the existence of a knowledge based society. The focus of this study was centered on identifying the characteristics of contemporary fashion paradigm in association with changing cultural convergence according to the theories of Mark Weiser and other futurologists. The purpose of this study was to delve into the features of this paradigm in conjunction with changing cultural convergence in 21st century's knowledge-based society, and the influence of convergence paradigm on fashion. After identifying the features of knowledge-based society paradigm in association with changing cultural convergence, the characteristics of the fashion paradigm in order to ascertain and analyze fashion trends. Conclusions based on analyzed data indicate that in a knowledge-based society, paradigm change resulting from convergence phenomena contributes to facilitating the dissolution of fashion from other fields and its fusion with other areas.

Novel Bumping Material for Solder-on-Pad Technology

  • A novel bumping material, which is composed of a resin and Sn3Ag0.5Cu (SAC305) solder power, has been developed for the maskless solder-on-pad technology of the fine-pitch flip-chip bonding. The functions of the resin are carrying solder powder and deoxidizing the oxide layer on the solder power for the bumping on the pad on the substrate. At the same time, it was designed to have minimal chemical reactions within the resin so that the cleaning process after the bumping on the pad can be achieved. With this material, the solder bump array was successfully formed with pitch of 150 ${\mu}m$ in one direction.
