This study analyses the relationships between the residents'personality and the residential types, and between the sense of crowding and the residential types. For this purpose, this study surveys two hundred ninety three residents in their thirties and forties, residing in Seoul. We find that there are differences in the personality traits and also differences in the sense of crowding according to residential types such as high-rise/low-rise apartments, high-class private residence, multi-family houses. And these differences are due to the differences of inner and outer residential environment satisfaction. The lower a resident's inner environment satisfaction is, the higher is his/her sense of crowding. And low environment satisfaction and high sense of crowding appears to account for one's depression and anxiety. Conversely, the higher environment satisfaction is and the lower the sense of crowding is, the higher is his/her responsibility. Finally, this study tries to examine how each personality trait changes according to the habitancy duration. We find that residents having a 3-5 year habitancy record are more anxious and depressed than those who have been living more than 7 years in the same residence.
The purpose of this study is to examine: (1) the relationships among socially prescribed perfectionism, pessimism, and emotional problems represented by levels of depression and anxiety in children; and (2) whether or not pessimism mediates the relationship between children's socially prescribed perfectionism and emotional problems. 441 fifth and sixth graders residing in the national capital region participated in the study. Their data were collected with self-reported questionnaires in school class settings. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's product correlation coefficients were obtained using SPSS (version 18.0), and tests of the mediation were performed using SEM with AMOS (version 20). Significant correlations between children's socially prescribed perfectionism, pessimism, and emotional problems exist. Also, pessimism appears to partially mediate the relationship between children's socially prescribed perfectionism and emotional problems. These results seem to indicate that mitigating pessimism could reduce the possibility of experiencing emotional problems, such as depression and anxiety, in children who have strong beliefs to live up to the high standards, set unrealistically by others.

The purpose of this study is to develop a theme-selection activity in 'clothing life' in relation to SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) for the free semester program. After analyzing the contents of the 'clothing life' area of middle school home economics textbooks based on the SDGs, the content system and learning goals were set. Then a program was developed and the validity and the feasibility of the program were verified. As a result of the analysis of textbooks, the contents of 'clothing life' included all the three basic dimensions of social development, economic growth, and environment protection, yet focus only on 1 or 2 goals of each area. Based on the results of the analysis, a 'Righteous(義) Clothing(衣) Life' program was developed. The developed program consists of teaching-learning process plans and teaching-learning materials in eight class periods, including 'The future everyone dreams of' based on SDG12, 'Two faces of fast fashion' based on SDG1, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10, 'Living as Homoclimatus' based on SDG13, and 'The future we create' based on SDG9 and SDG12. Through the expert evaluation process for the developed program, the program's teaching and learning adequacy and feasibility were reviewed and feedback was actively reflected to correct and supplement the program. Through this study, it is expected that it will contribute to laying the foundation for establishing home economics as a subject that educates citizens who practice sustainable life, and a pivotal subject in education for sustainable development.

This study is intended to provide fundamental information to improve the quality of student activities presented in the Clothing & Textiles How to Dress Appropriately' section of the current middle school 'Technology Home Economics' textbooks so that Home Economics may better reflect students' interests, making it applicable in real life. The survey was conducted to 154 male and 160 female students on their preferences regarding student activities. The results are as follows. First, students who like clothing & textiles section regard "Opportunities to take part in various kinds of practices and student activities" as the major reason for preference. And the single biggest reason why they dislike the unit was due to "Too much contents to be memorized." Among various contents regarding dress in the unit, "How to Wear Clothes That Look Good on Me, and the Right Ways to Wear Them" attracted the most attention, regardless of what contents they consider necessary, interesting, or helpful in real life. Second, as for the time of implementation of the activities, students preferred "End of each class". They also preferred small-group activities (group size), well-structured problems (type of problems) and tasks that require analysis based on theoretical principles through experiments and practices (methods of implementation). Third, the findings as to the actual experience of conducting the student activities indicated that, in most cases, student activities were conducted in accordance to what was suggested in the textbooks, but not to what the students preferred. Therefore, in order to make home economics more applicable to students, it is desirable to focus on their everyday lives as is favored by the students, and increase small-group activities. Also, suggesting various and comprehensive problematic situations such as non-structured, open-ended problems and encouraging diverse implementation would be helpful in improving students' critical and creative thinking abilities.
This study is intended to reveal the nutritional realities of school children due to their box lunch. The samples were chosen at random from the third grade to the sixth grade children in an elementary school in Seoul : 122 male and 111 female children, 233 children in all. among the subjects, 44.3% have a family of four, 34.3% have over 500,000 won of family income a month, and 44.3% of their mothers graduated from a high school. The average intake of calories is 573.6 Kcal, and the ratios of the calory intakes to the recommended amounts are 90.6% in the third grade children and from the fourth grade to the sixth grade, 79.5% in the male children and 82.9% in the female children. The average consumption of protein is 21.0g and the ratio of animal protein is 41.4%. the ratio of energy yield nutrients is 67.4% : 14.5 : 18.0 (carbohydrate : protein " fat). Considering the recommended amounts, the intake of protein is enough; the consumption of vit, A, thiamine, niacin are appropriate;and the intake of calories, Riboflabin and ascorbic acid, calcium, iron are deficient. Even though there is no significant difference between the socioeconomic factors (the standard of education of the subjects' mothers and family income0 and the intakes of calories and protein, there is a tendency that the consumption of protein intake si more abundant in the middle class than in any other class. The subjects' distribution of the physical growth index, is as follows; A (6.9%), B(19.3%), C(48.5%), D(13.7%) and E (11.6%). As the subjects' intake of calcium increases, the weight shows significant improvement (p<0.001). As the consumption of calories increases, the physical development shows significant improvement (p<0.05), and the weight shows significant increase (p<0.001).
The purpose of this study is to survey Korean mother's child-rearing methods and to see what influence each layed on children's school achievement. The student were consisted of two distinct groups, namely superior and inferior. Five top students from each class were categorized as the superior group and five bottom ones from each class were categorized as the inferior group. The questionaire was consisted of 7 items, namely, the needing method, feeding period, weaning time, mothers general attitudes about crying, sleeping arrangement and whether mothers workers or not. Summary of this study is as follows ; 1. As far as babies were breast-fed, there was no significant between the superior group and the interior group no matter what feeding period and weaning time were. 2. When the babies were fed by milk or both by milk and breast, the most favorable weaning time for intellectual development seemed to be between 6 and 9 months after birth. 3. The mother's general attitudes to babies crying and the sleeping arrangement have definite influence on the children's school achievement. It was shown that if mothers hugged babies as soon as they cried the babies tended to be superior, but the mothers of inferior group had tendency to let alone, until the babies stopped crying or hug after finishing their urgent works. Then the superior group was allowed to sleep alone in his own bed in the mother's room. On the contrary, the inferior group was kept in their mother bed or that of other family's without being given his own bed. 4.
