In this paper, the ability to use mathematical representations in solving math problem was analyzed according to student assessment levels using 113 first-year high school students, and the characteristics of their representation usage according to student assessment levels were also examined. For this purpose, problems were presented that could be solved using various mathematical representations, and the students were asked to solve them using a maximum of three different methods. Also, based on the comparative analysis results of a paper evaluation, six students were selected and interviewed, and the reasons for their representation usage differences were analyzed according to their student assessment levels. The results of the analysis show that over 50% of high ranking students used two or more representations in all questions to solve problems, but with middle ranking students, there were deviations depending on the difficulty of the questions. Low ranking students failed to use representation in diverse ways when solving problems. As for characteristics of symbol usage, high ranking students preferred using formulas and used mathematical representations efficiently while solving problems. In contrast, middle and low ranking students mostly used tables or pictures. Even when using the same representations, high ranking students' representations were expressed in a more structurally refined manner than those by middle and low ranking students.
This research aims to explore the effect of participation in 'peer tutoring(learning tutoring)' program designed for low achiever students, and to provide an explanation for the improvement of related extracurricular activity. For this, firstly, the study analyzed differences between goal attainment group and non-attainment group in self-directed learning readiness, learning presence and learning transfer. Secondly, the relationships between three variables were analyzed. Based on an online survey of 154 low achievers participating in learning tutoring, two research questions were examined using t-test, correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analyses. Our findings show that firstly, the academic achievement after participating in tutoring improved more than before. Secondly, there were differences in three variables by gender and grades. Also, there were differences in three variables between two groups. Finally, there was a high positive correlation between three variables, and 71% of learning transfer was explained by self-directed learning readiness and learning presence. Based on these findings, the practical implications are discussed regarding the improvement of tutoring program.

This study suggests different improvement practices of adolescents' multicultural acceptability to compare the factors influencing multicultural acceptability with elementary and middle school students. The data used in this study come from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS) of the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI) comprising 4,092 responses from 5th grade elementary school students and 4th grade(middle school 2nd grade) of elementary school students. The study data were subjected to hierarchical regression analysis to give the following findings. First, Levels of Multicultural Acceptability were significantly different. Second, factors influencing multicultural acceptability for elementary school students and middle school students were different. Common factors were mother's education level, life's satisfaction, peer relationship, teacher relationship, and spirit of community. Factors for elementary school students's multicultural acceptability were subjective academic achievement, community awareness, experiences of cultural activity, and overseas visiting experiences. The factor for middle school students's multicultural acceptability was family/group travel experiences. Our findings highlight the importance of programs and education that are suitable for children's developmental level. Such peer group programs need to be offered for middle school students to achieve spirit of community and educational group program and various extracurricular activities to achieve community awareness and develop a spirit of community for elementary school students.

This study is a meta-analysis study to comprehensively investigate the effects of flipped learning teaching applied to nursing students in Korea through systematic review. Data collection was conducted by a team of two researchers from November 20 to December 20, 2022. A total of 129 papers were searched through the domestic database, and duplicate papers were removed and the final 9 studies were selected. Flipped learning improved critical thinking disposition of nursing students 0.91(Z=8.36, p<.001), learning self-efficacy 0.35 (Z=2.62, p=.009), self-directed learning ability 0.81(Z=6.53, p<.001), academic achievement 0.60(Z=5.18, p<.001), and self-efficacy 0.66(Z=4.79, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it was confirmed that flipped learning is an effective teaching method applicable to the domestic nursing education field, and an objective basis was presented for the direction of flipped learning class design. In the future, we suggest repeated studies that comprehensively analyze the effects of various outcome variables that have a positive effect on flipped learning.
There are many results in which acoustical conditions of a classroom play an important role for studying effects and academic achievement of students. However, there are very few guidelines or design proposals which could make appropriate acoustic environment when classrooms are built or renovated. The present study suggests various design proposals satisfying acoustic standards of classrooms based on theoretical calculation and acoustic field experiments. At first, minimum area of sound absorption was calculated which is required to satisfy the acoustic standard for domestic middle and high schools. Also, room acoustic measurements were carried out in order to investigate the acoustic performance of an existing classroom by changing interior finishing materials on ceiling and rear walls. As a result, it was revealed that reverberation time standard below 0.8 s can be acquired even if there is no sound absorption on ceiling which is a general practice executed in Korea. Specially, it was found that if partial area of ceiling would be treated as reflective with the ratio of sound absorption and reflection as 2:1, almost similar acoustic parameters of $C_{50}$, $D_{50}$, RASTI (Rapid Speech Transmission Index) and higher sound levels could be acquired in comparison with the case of entire sound absorption on ceiling.

Korean youth spend tremendous time in school for preparing for college admissions. Their academic achievement and overall satisfaction with their lives are affected by how well they adapt to life in school. Successful adaptation to school is important enough to affect a student's future social life. One of the factors that affect adaptation to school is the psychological condition of adolescent anxiety. Anxiety is one of the common mental disorders that appear in people who are not familiar with new environments. Anxiety is known to be related to behavioral problems, and problems with psychological and emotional adaptation. This condition is dramatically increased in adolescents.Parental conflict in particular is known to be a major factor in affecting youth anxiety. As parental conflict became more severe, children felt more negative emotions such as anger, sadness and worry. Moreover, when a child's issue caused the parental conflict, there were more side effects in the emotional condition of the child. This study shows how parental conflict affects a child's anxiety and a child's school life. This problem is analyzed through structural equation modeling.

The purpose of this study was to compare the anxiety, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior according to smartphone use and contacts with obscene materials. 110 university students surveyed demographic characteristics, smartphone use, contacts with obscene materials, anxiety, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior, and analyzed 102 questionnaires except missing and incomplete responses. The collected data were analyzed by independent t-test or chi-square test. Men were significantly more likely to have contacts with obscene materials, sexual attitudes, and sexual behavior than the women (p<.05). In type of residence, boarding room or lodging was significantly higher at time of smartphone use, anxiety, and sexual behaviors than the home (p<.05). There was no difference in variables according to religion (p>.05). There was no difference in variables according to the level of academic achievement (p>.05). Time of smartphone use over 3 hours was significantly higher for contacts of obscene materials, anxiety, and sexual attitudes and behaviors than less 3 hours (p<.05). Higher levels of time of contacts with obscene materials were significantly higher in anxiety and sexual behaviors than lower level (p<.05). The results of this study can be used as a basis for the development of intervention programs for those who are experiencing excessive smartphone use and contacts with obscene materials.

Problem-based Learning (PBL) has been known as an effective strategy for dealing with various aspects of education such as the enhancement of students' motivation, interest in subjects, academic achievement, and cooperative abilities. However, PBL has not been widely implemented in secondary schools. The purpose of this study is to investigate secondary school teachers' perception of problem-based learning and their way of applying it. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with nine secondary school teachers. Five of them had experience in implementing PBL, while four of them had interest in using PBL but had not yet had the experience. Different concepts were extracted and categorized. Nvivo 2.0 was used for analysis. The results were as follows: Changes in student attitude toward class, improvement on cooperation with others, self-regulated learning skills, and satisfaction from students' positive comments on PBL enabled teachers to become more enthusiastic and positive toward PBL. The stress of developing proper problems and the enormous amounts of time and efforts required in using PBL were shown as barriers for teachers in implementing PBL. However, some negative perspectives about PBL changed into positive after teachers experience PBL. By examining each teacher's way of implementing PBL, several teaching strategies suitable to their school systems were suggested.
The purpose of this study is to explore and propose policy alternatives by examining students' educational experiences at Chungbuk National University (CBNU). Some of the outstanding research findings of the study as follows. Students at CBNU think that they are capable of team-working and utilizing internet while less so with foreign language skill. With regard to academic achievement, students responded that they have seen a relatively low outcome in foreign language competency. In terms of their job placement, CBNU students highly recognize their logical thinking skill, creativity, and activity, whereas lower satisfaction with social service, study abroad, and internship experience. For further development of the survey analysis, this study suggests additional items included to make a sophisticated analysis possible such as scholarship, part-time job, educational outcome. This is expected to allow researchers to tab into the effect of finance of CBNU students. More detailed information on students' characteristics also need to be added; collaborative learning, student faculty interaction, co-work with students from diverse background, etc., which would allow the analysis of the impact of extra-curricula activities.

This study was conducted to investigate factors influencing career maturity in nursing students. A convenience sample of 230 nursing student was selected from S city, between 20 October and 10 November 2017. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Factors that influenced career maturity included gender(t=2.117, p=.035), age(t=-2.572, p=.011), grade(F=4.716, p=.010), education at the time of admission(t=-2.695, p=.008) and perceived academic achievement(F=11.127, p<.001). Career maturity showed a positive correlation with career decision-making self-efficacy(r=.585, p<.001) and problem solving ability(r=.407, p <.001), but a negative correlation with job-seeking stress(r=-.424, p<.001). Regression analysis revealed that significant factors influencing career maturity were career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress. This regression model explained 42.8% of the variance in the career maturity. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and test programs to ensure an improvement in career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress among nursing students to increase their career maturity.
