스페이서 가터 스프링 코일 X-750 소재 정밀 조직 분석 방법 (Microstructure characterization technique of spacer garter spring coil X-750 material)

  • In the periodic surveillance material test for the spacer component of fuel channel assembly in CANDU, a microstructural characterization analysis is required in addition to the mechanical property evaluation test. In this study, detailed microstructure analysis and simple mechanical property evaluation of archive spacer parts were conducted to indirectly support the surveillance test and assist in the study of spacer material degradation. We investigated the microstructural characteristics of the spacer garter spring coil through comparative analysis with the plate material. The main microstructure characteristics of the garter spring coil X-750 are represented by the fine grain size distribution, the ordering phase distribution developed inside the matrix, the high dislocation density inside the grains, and the arrangement of coarse carbides. In addition, the yield strength of the garter spring coil X-750 was indirectly evaluated to be approximately 1 GPa. We also established an analytical method to elucidate the microstructural evolution of the radioactive spacer garter spring coil X-750 based on Canadian research experiences. Finally, we confirmed the measurement technique for helium bubble formation through TEM examination on the helium implanted X-750 material.

배전급 초전도 한류기 개발을 위한 Bi-2212 초전도 한류소자의 사고전류 제한 특성 (Fault Current Limitation Characteristics of the Bi-2212 Bulk Coil for Distribution-class Superconducting Fault Current Limiters)

  • We investigated fault current limitation characteristics of the resistive superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) which consisted of a Bi-2212 bulk coil and a shunt coil. The Bi-2212 bulk coil and the shunt coil were connected in parallel. The Bi-2212 bulk coil was placed inside the shunt coil to induce field-assisted quench. The fault test was conducted at an input voltage of $200V_{rms}$ and fault current of $12kA_{rms}\;and\;25kA_{rms}$. The fault conditions were asymmetric and symmetric, and the fault period was 5 cycles. The test results show that the SFCL successfully limited the fault current of $12kA_{rms}\;and\;25kA_{rms}$ to below $5.5{\sim}6.9kA_{peak}\;within\;0.64{\sim}2.17$ msec after the fault occurred. Limitation was faster under symmetric fault test condition due to the larger change rate of current. We concluded that the speed of fault current limitation was determined by the speed of current rise rather than the amplitude of a short circuit current. These results show that the Bi-2212 bulk coil is suitable for distribution-class SFCLS.

Analysis on electrical and thermal characteristics of MI-SS racetrack coil under conduction cooling and external magnetic field

  • This paper presents the analysis and experiment results on the electrical and thermal characteristics of metal insulation (MI) REBCO racetrack coil, which was wound with stainless steel (SS) tape between turn-to-turn layers, under rotating magnetic field and conduction cooling system. Although the field windings of superconducting rotating machine are designed to operate on a direct current, they may be subjected to external magnetic field due to the unsynchronized armature windings during electrical or mechanical load fluctuations. The field windings show the voltage and magnetic field fluctuations and the critical current reduction when they are exposed to an external magnetic field. Moreover, the cryogenic cooling conditions are also identified as the factors that affect the electrical and thermal characteristics of the HTS coil because the characteristic resistance changes according to the cryogenic cooling conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the effect of external magnetic field on the electrical and thermal characteristics of MI-SS racetrack coil for further development reliable HTS field windings of superconducting rotating machine. First, the major components of the experiment test (i.e., HTS racetrack coil construction, armature winding of 75 kW class induction motor, and conduction cooling system) were fabricated and assembled. Then, the MI racetrack coil was performed under liquid nitrogen bath and conduction cooling conditions to estimate the key parameters (i.e., critical current, time constant, and characteristic resistance) for the test coil in the steady state operation. Further, the test coil was charged to the target value under conduction cooling of 35 K then exposed to the rotating magnetic field, which was generated by three phrase armature windings of 75 kW class induction motor, to investigate the electrical and thermal characteristics during the transient state.

  • 전원주파수 교류자기장 내성평가을 위하여 유도코일용 대형 3-축 사각 헬름홀쯔 코일 를 설계 .center dot. 제작하였다. 제작한 사각 헬름홀쯔 코일의 코일상수및 자기장 균일도를 측정하였으며, 3축 방향의 자기장 균일도는 컴퓨터 모사에의한 값과 잘 일치하였다. 자기장 균일도부터 교류자기장 내성평가에서 요구하는 유효시험공간을 결정 하였으며, 다회의 유도코일을 사용하므로써 낮은 전류로 큰 자기장을 요구하는 단속적 교류자기장 내성평가도 수행할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

전동기 소손에 대한 화재 원인 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Cause Analysis of Motor Damage)

  • 본 논문은 전동기에 발생하는 화재에 대한 연구로서, 일반가전제품에 사용되고 있는 단상유도전동기에 과부하 및 외부화염을 가하여 그 변형 및 파손상태를 비교 분석하였다. 실험은 전동기의 구속을 통한 과부하 시험과 외부에서 화염을 가하는 실험으로 진행하였으며, 외부화염 시험의 경우 전압을 인가한 경우와 인가하지 않은 경우로 구분하였다. 실험결과 구속을 통한 과부하 시험의 경우 권선부분에서 층간 단락흔을 관찰할 수 있었고, 권선부분의 조직에서는 과부하에 의해 변형된 전선의 특징인 나무줄기 형상의 수지상 조직이 나타났다. 전압을 인가한 상태에서 외부화염을 가한 경우 고정자 권선부분의 코일이 원형을 유지하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 권선주변의 색이 붉게 변색된 것을 볼 수 있었다. 전압을 인가하지 않고 외부화염을 가한 경우 고정자 권선부분의 코일이 원형에서 많이 변형된 것을 관찰할 수 있었고, 권선 주변의 색은 전압을 인가한 경우와 마찬가지로 붉게 변색된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

3상 10kVA 더블 팬케익 코일형 고온초전도 변압기 특성시험 결과 (Test Results of a Three Phase 10㎸A HTS Transformer With Double Pan Cake Coils)

  • The high temperature superconductor transformers gain interests from the industries. This paper described construction and test results of 10㎸A HTS transformer Three phase transformer with double pancake windings were constructed. To reduce the leakage magnetic field, secondary coil were placed between the two primary coils. BSCCO-2223 wire. silicon sheet steel core and FRP cryostats were used to construct the transformer. Three coils were stacked in one cryostat. Two double pancake coils were connected in series for the primary coil and one double pancake coil was used for the secondary coil. Total number of turns of the primary winding and the secondary winding were 112turns and 98urns, respectively, The rated voltages of each winding were 440/220V. The rated currents of each winding were 13.1/26.2A. After the tests of basic properties of the three phase HTS transformer using no-load test, short-circuit test and full-load test, continuous operation of 100 hours with pure resistive load has been carried out. Test results proved over-load capability and reliability of the HTS transformer.

  • Inductive superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) with DC reator rated on 6.6k $V_{rms}$/200 $A_{rms}$ has been developed in Yonsei University. The development of the DC reactor is the key technology in this type SFCL. This paper deals with the fabrication and characteristic test of the DC reactor. For the development of this magnet, the winding machine for high-Tc superconducting solenoid was manufactured. Using this machine, a large-scale HTS solenoid using Bi-2223 tape was fabricated successfully. This coil has 5 layers which are connected in series each other. The inductance of the DC reactor coil is 84mB. The cooling system was the sub-cooled nitrogen whose temperature is about 65K. The characteristic test of the coil was performed. The full quench current of this coil is about 490A.90A.

튜브, 봉류의 와전류 탐상시 시편 변위에 의한 신호 변화 (Wobble and Nonconcentricity Effects in Eddy Current Test of Tubes or Rods)

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the effect of wobble and nonconcentricity of tubes or rods in eddy current test with encircling test coils. Because the eddy current induced in a sample is related to the total magnetic flux linkages, the information about magnetic field distribution in a coil is important. In theoretical study, magnetic field distribution in a single turn coil was calculated and variation of impedance according to the difference of sample positions was presumed. Magnetic field intensity at inside of a solenoidal coil was measured and compared with the theoretical estimation. In experiment, impedance loci of a coil encircling an aluminum rod were measured at different sample positions. The effect of crack positions was examined at same sample positons.

Stability analysis of an insulationless HTS pancake coil under the magnitude of external magnetic field

  • An HTS (high temperature superconducting) coil without insulation has been investigated since a metallic insulation was suggested in the mid-1980s. The advantage of an insulationless HTS pancake coil is that it is more stable than an insulated HTS pancake coil. This paper focuses on the various characteristics of the insulationless HTS pancake coil related with stability, especially under the external magnetic field. Because HTS pancake coil may be influenced by the external magnetic field in a real operational environment of electrical devices. First, charge-discharge test was performed for the characteristics evaluation of the insulationless HTS pancake coil as compared with insulated HTS pancake coil in liquid nitrogen at 77 K. Based on the experiment results, characteristics evaluation of the insulationless HTS pancake coil was implemented under the external magnetic field. In order to carry out the experiment, we have fabricated a cylindrical solenoid coil to apply the magnetic field. The various characteristics of the insulationless HTS pancake coil were evaluated for charge-discharge and over-current conditions. This paper proves that the insulationless HTS pancake coil is more stable than the insulated HTS pancake under the external magnetic field.

  • For the development of a small-sized superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system we designed, fabricated and tested the model coil consisting five coils with different features, e.g. winding tensions, bore diameters and materials, cooling channels. The results show that even in the highly pre-stressed small coil A, about 70 % of the coils critical current are degraded. The quench current of the coils A, B and E with narrow cooling channels is two times as high as that of the coil C without them though they are similar except spacers. The test results also indicate that the usual training effect depends on the winding tensions of the coils but the quench characteristic does not change according to materials of a bobbin.
