This study evaluates the occurrences, phyfical weathering and biological deterioration on rock properties during the dissection process an object of stone pagoda in the Mireuksaji temple site. For restoration and conservation, all kinds of rock properties are carried out detailed scientific investigation and diagnosis. Constituting rocks of the pagoda composed mainly of equi-granular medium grained biotite that rock properties presumed to be use about 3,000 materials. Main external properties of the pagoda are total 446 materials, and the rock properties under the concentration load on the each floors occurred with overlapping fracture, weathering and deteriorations. The 84 materials show highly degraded about $18.8\%$ among the external properties. Representative physicochemical deteriorations are fracture, loss, break, exfoliation, degradation, grain shaped dissolution, relief surface, discoloration and hydroxide precipitates, in this study, the deterioration state of each properties give a precisely description and analysis. Coverage of lichen and algae on the rock surface represented about $85\%$. As the some properties, biological contaminants withered up when spray rock surface with diluted cleaning chemicals. Results of the study are utilized an application for restoration system and detailed investigation during the dissection process of stone cultural properties.

The granites in the Gyeongju area are represented by the Namsan granites and the Tohamsan granodiorites. In this study I examined the geomorphological and geological characteristics of the granite landforms in the Gyeongju area. Joint, tor and corestones are most identifiable geomorphological and geological structure in the study areas. Tor in the Namsan granites is well developed and mainly composed of cubic corestones. Petrographical features of the stones used for the stone-built cultural properties are compared with those of the granites cropped out nearby. Additionally radiogenic element contents (K, Th, U) were acquired for comparison by gamma-ray spectrometer analysis. Most stones from the stone-built cultural properties in the Bulguksa Temple are very similar to the Namsan granites in terms of petrography, radiogenic elements. On the contrary almost all stones from the Seokguram Grotto share common petrographical, physical and chemical characteristics with the Tohamsan granodiorites. Therefore it can be suggested that the stones in the Bulguksa Temple were supplied from Namsan, and that the stones in the Seokgurarn Grotto were collected at nearby Tohamsan.
This study suggests the water curtain nozzles as the way to protect important wooden cultural properties from an adjacent building fire or a forest fire. They are designed to block off the pyrolysis of timbers which occurs at $200{\sim}250^{\circ}C$ by forming a water curtain with the flow of water that spouts over a certain pressure from the bottom. The existing water curtain nozzles installed at the following sites were examined: NakSan-sa (Temple) in Gangwon-do (Province) and in Muwisa (Temple) in Jeollanam-do (South Province). As a way to improve and complement the system, this study designed nozzles with covers in order not to disrupt the landscape. Connected pipes are elevated and jet water when they are in use. Possible ways to install the connected elevating pipes to jet water effectively were investigated.
We fabricated the gap-filling material for antic-ceramics restoration which were made up polyvinyl butyral (butvar) base and silane system additive in iso-propyl solvent. This was made hardness control possible that user want. And it have very strong adhesion and shear strength properties and is shown the best properties for pigment filling, anti-contractibility, coloring as like epoxy system materials. Particularly, the yellowing and ir-reversibility problem in Epoxy restoration material were finally steadiness. So, there is guarantee in the eternity and stabilization of restoration for antic-celamics. And in order to show the reversible state of the restoration, we successfully dissolve this polyvinyl butyral gap-filling materials in solvent after perfect restoring the Punchong plate from sam-chun temple site subsequently.

It has been proved that pollutants stuck on the surface of stone architecture have significant direct and indirect harmful effects on them. Among them some do not look evidently harmful, but they have potentials to ruin stone architecture as time goes on. Since the cultural assets have magnificent meanings as historical aspects, their future states should be considered seriously as well as that of the presence. The past method to get rid of the pollutants from the surface of cultural properties has been changed a lot till the present along with scientific development of technology on this field. Existing method to eliminating pollutants are based on physical and chemical processing, which can make damages on them too. Recently cleansing using LASER has been developed in Europe and proved as effective and relatively less harmful to remove pollutants, and it has been adopted widely. After the success of the way by LASER, there are several trials to adopt the way to our cultural properties which have similar materials. Those showed satisfactory results and studies for developing the securer and more dependable ways to apply. From now on the report will show the effective ways to apply the method using LASER on to the similar materials and different materials as well and discuss about the pros and cons about the method.
Understanding of the properties of woods is important in wood utilization. Until now, traditional wooden houses(Korean-style house, Buddhist temple, royal palaces) and furniture have been made of domestic woods with the experience of a craftsman rather than the scientific knowledge on woods. Because of concrete-based houses and imported wood products and furniture, even wood craftsmen decrease in number, too. This study was carried out to collect wood samples growing in Korea and to measure wood characteristics. Anatomical, physical and mechanical properties of 37 wood species were investigated.
This study tries to investigate the differences in combination of gold and other metals used in the surface guilt of the gold-guilt relics found in the Seonwonsa Temple of the Korea Dynasty. Our findings are as follows. The gilded roller knobs found in the Seonwonsa Temple of the Korea Dynasty can be classified into three groups by the color of the surface guilt: gold, white-gold, red-gold. By the color it is found that gold type contains $Au\;81.0\%,\;Ag\;3.5\%,\;Cu\;5.6\%$, white-gold type contains $Au\;82.1\%,\;Ag\;10.6\%,\;Cu\;2.4\%$, and the red-gold type contains $Au\;59.9\%,\;Ag\;3.7\%,\;Cu\;33.2\%$. The gold metal used for guilt is found to be amalgam of Hg and the depth of the guilt was uneven with the average of $2.5\~25{\mu}m$. These gilded roller knobs were produced in two methods. One of them was made out of pure bronze, and the other out of bronze veneer and led. Since we found led on the outer surface, we conclude that the led juncture was later guilt with gold.
A stylobate, part of the foundation for hardening soil below the floor, has been built with a variety of materials, such as stone, tile and brick, in several kinds of combined constructions of soil, stone, and brick. In particular, Baekje used a tile-piled stylobate that could not be found in Goguryeo and Silla counterparts, thus showing outstanding performance in the construction culture. Archeological excavations up to now evidence the stylobate played a role in building the magnificent structures or enhancing the decorative effects. It can be enough inferred that such features are reflected on dual footing stylobate, framed stylobate and tile-piled stylobate. Baekje had delivered its techniques for constructing stylobate to Silla from about the middle of 6th century. They can be traced down back from the dual stylobate that has been identified in Hwangryong-sa temple lastly built in the old site of Silla, those constructed with broken stones at Najeong, tile-piled stylobate of the mode of vertical-horizontal rows which had been established in Inwang-dong, Gyeongju, the capital of the kingdom, and a framed stylobate at Hall enshrining Buddha (Golden Hall) site of Gameun-sa temple site. Recently, relics of structures, including temple sites, are intermittently being unearthed in the old sites of Baekje and Silla. However, studies linking archeology with architecture can be rarely found up to now. It is, therefore, necessary that the relics should be correctly construed in archeological as well as architectural aspects. We expect that further studies can graft architectural insight into archeological analysis.
