On the other hand, theories are considered more important in middle school. 2. Students have similar preference both for theories and for practical activities as a way of learning in class and show positive responses to practical activities unless they´re giving too much pressure as a part of performance test. 3. According to their learning requirement. several teaching-learning contents in clothing and textiles in Technology Home economics are selected such as materials,. clothes designs, how to set dressed well, how to make a reasonable purchase on clothes, and the process of manufacturing various clothes, etc. Therefore it would be desirable to provide the students with the learning opportunity to the extent where even the students who haven´t chosen the selected-advanced course can take part in class actively.

How the elements of those suggested by Noddings were reflected in the various parts of the textbook were analyzed in terms of the closeness of approaches, contents, and procedures between Noddings's and textbook. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The degree to which the elements of activating happiness education were reflected in the textbook differed by each unit. The elements of activating happiness education were reflected the most frequently in the unit of 'Unit of Practice of Eco-friendly Family Life' and the least frequently in the unit of 'Unit of Career and Life Planning'. 2. The purpose of this research study was to examine how multi-cultural education contents are reflected in the contents related to the 'Human Development and Family' area of middle school Technology-Home Economics textbooks, based on the multi-cultural education criteria developed by Paek(2014). The sample of the study consisted of the 'Human Development and Family' contents in 'Technology-Home Economics 1·2' textbooks from five publishers (10 volumes) written in accordance with the 2015 revised curriculum. The research results of the study can be summarized as follows: First, all the four multi-cultural education criterion components were shown in the textbooks from five publishers. Cooperation was shown in the highest frequency, followed by Identity, Diversity, and Equality. Second, the analyses of text, image, and learning activities in the textbooks confirmed that Home Economics as a subject contains multi-cultural education contents that allow students to establish self and identity, respect others, accept diverse family patterns, understand family changes from multiple viewpoints, and form family community culture from gender equality perspective without prejudice. Ultimately, it can be concluded that Home Economics is a subject that enables learners to learn how individuals and families can cooperate and care for each other in order to harmoniously coexist.

Among the 28 subjects, they had greatest interest in 'Dining Manners and Etiquette' and 'Nutrition and Meals for Adolescents' while they expressed relatively little interest in the subject of 'Cooking and Culinary Education'. This study aimed to analyze the contents of clothing and textile areas in practical arts, technology and home economics, and science of home economics courses, and the degrees of vertical connections among them. Totally 21 textbooks were chosen for this study, which consist of fifth and sixth grade practical arts textbooks(one from each grade), sixteen technology and home economics textbooks(eight from each eighth and tenth grade), and three high school science of home economics textbooks. In order to analyze systematically the degrees of vertical connections, clothing and textile areas were divided into 6 large sections, which were subdivided into 48 specific categories(contents) by content analysis. The method of connection analysis was based on development(constant continuity and sequence), repetition (continuity without considering sequence), gap(sequence without considering the continuity of curriculum), and reduction(the lack of both continuity and sequence). The connection analysis were done in 48 categories separatively. In the sections of clothing attire and clothing management, the most categories(46.1% and 44.5%) were evaluated as having connections of reductions. No category was analyzed as development in the section of clothing planning and the most categories(83.3%) had connections of repetitions. In the clothing material section showed to be the section with the most in-depth and expanded content compared to the previous educational levels, with developed categories of 50%. The most degree of connection in the clothing and textile areas of practical arts, technology and home economics, and science of home economics subjects was the development at 29.2%, followed by repetition at 25%, reduction at 25%, and finally gap at 20.8%. Developed categories were relatively more than repetitive, reduced, or gap contents. However, as the connection between grades was not highly outstanding, it was difficult to say that the connection of the curriculum was adequately distributed according to the school grades.

This study aimed at analyzing the clothing management units of technology and home economics textbooks in terms of their contents related to Education for Sustainable Development(ESD). The inquisitive tendency of the textbooks was also examined adopting the modified Romey's method, because it is known as an important factor in increasing student's class participation in sustainable clothing management and inducing practical behavior. First, the learning contents of clothing management unit were analyzed according to the social/political/cultural, environmental, and economic perspectives of ESD. As a result, ESD contents from social/political/cultural perspectives (safety, and health and food), environmental perspectives (natural resources, energy, and environmental problem), and the economic perspectives (sustainable production and consumption) were identified, with a heavy focus on environmental perspective. Secondly, Romey's inquisitive content analysis method was modified to analyze texts, pictures/charts, and learning activities of the clothing management unit. In all textbooks, facts and definitions were the dominant types of contents, which means less opportunities for development of inquiry ability. In conclusion, the ESD contents of the clothing management unit are inclined to the environmental perspective, and it is necessary that textbook development would need to be balanced between three perspectives. Also, future textbook authors will need to improve the inquisitive tendency of the textbooks to encourage student participation in class and induce practical application in real life.
The purpose of this study is to research middle school students' interests in the housing education contents of Technology Home Economics Subject - to classify the contents into three units, we have application of living space, indoor environment and equipments, support and repair of housing. This study has a subject of 529 middle schoolers living in Jeonbuk province. In this statistical analysis, SPSS program was utilized to analyze percentage, mean and standard deviation. These materials were also verified by t-test. The results of this research were as follows: Middle school students' interests in housing education contents stayed at a mid-level. There was a significant difference in contents interest according to their gender - boys appeared to have a higher interest than girls. On the basis of these results, it can be suggested that these results offer fundamental information for improving students' critical practice in their real life. Since this study has conducted a limited research with a topic of housing education only, it is essential that further research covering a wider array of themes be done in the future.
