Educational Framework for Interactive Product Prototyping

  • When the design profession started, design targets were mainly static hardware centered products. Due to the development of network and digital technologies, new products with dynamic and software-hardware hybrid interactive characteristics have become one of the main design targets. To accomplish the new projects, designers are required to learn new methods, tools and theories in addition to the traditional design expertise of visual language. One of the most important tools for the change is effective and rapid prototyping. There have been few researches on educational framework for interactive product or system prototyping to date. This paper presents a new model of educational contents and methods for interactive digital product prototyping, and it's application in a design curricula. The new course contents, integrated with related topics such as physical computing and tangible user interface, include microprocessor programming, digital analogue input and output, multimedia authoring and programming language, sensors, communication with other external devices, computer vision, and movement control using motors. The final project of the course was accomplished by integrating all the exercises. Our educational experience showed that design students with little engineering background could learn various interactive digital technologies and its' implementation method in one semester course. At the end of the course, most of the students were able to construct prototypes that illustrate interactive digital product concepts. It was found that training for logical and analytical thinking is necessary in design education. The paper highlights the emerging contents in design education to cope with the new design paradigm. It also suggests an alterative to reflect the new requirements focused on interactive product or system design projects. The tools and methods suggested can also be beneficial to students, educators, and designers working in digital industries.

기원에 따른 33관음의 시각화 (Visualization of 33 Avalokitesvara-Bodhisattva according to the Wishes)

  • 본 논문에서는 관음 설화에 등장하는 33관음을 일반인의 기원에 따라 시각화하는 디지털 콘텐츠로 구현한다. 33관음은 유형문화재인 삼국유사의 관음 설화와 일반 사찰의 벽화에서도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다. 33관음은 일반인의 기원에 따라 33가지 모습으로 변신하고 자비를 베푸는 보살로서, 변화된 모습에 따른 다양한 관음 설화가 민간에 전래되어 확산되었다. 본 논문에서는 33가지 관음을 일반인들의 기원에 따라 치유, 안심, 학업성취, 재난 구호의 4가지 기원으로 분류하고, 각 관음에 대한 상징성과 활동성을 분석한다. 또한 일반인들의 사용 용이성을 지원하기 위한 2차원 디지털 콘텐츠를 제작한다. 응용 분야로는 전통문화 캐릭터 개발, 전통문화의 디지털 스토리텔링, 불교의 교리 교육, 게임 등 불교문화에 대한 서비스 등에 활용할 수 있다.

호텔 레스토랑 물리적 환경의 중요도-성과분석(IPA) -사회교환이론의 적용을 중심으로- (Importance-Performance Analysis of Hotel Restaurant's Servicescape)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 호텔 레스토랑의 식음료이외에 제공되는 물리적 환경요소에 대한 측정을 통하여 호텔레스토랑의 운영 및 경영자들에게 향후 마케팅 활동에 있어 도움을 주는데 있으며, 이러한 각 콘텐츠의 측정을 위하여 IPA분석을 실시하였다. 또한 레스토랑 이용객들에 대하여 사회교환이론을 적용하여 차이를 보고자 하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 호텔 레스토랑의 중요도-성과에 대한 평균비교 결과 시설의 청결성이 가장 높은 중요도와 성과를 보이고 있었다. 둘째, 사회교환이론에 따른 IPA분석결과 두 집단에서 2사분면의 '유지'분면에서 9번, 10번, 11번 문항, 3사분면의 '저순위'분면에서 1번, 3번 문항이 동일하게 포함되고 있었으며, 1사분면의 '집중'분면에서는 집단 간에 서로 다른 문항이 포함되고 있었으며, 특히 4사분면인 '과잉'분면에서는 소비비용이 없는 집단에서만 8번, 2번항목이 해당 사분면에 포함되고 있었다. 소비비용의 유무에 따라 물리적 환경에 대한 중요도와 성과가 다소 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 물리적환경이 행동의도에 미치는 영향에서는 유형적 환경요인만이 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 미야자키 하야오는 고유의 미학적 표현 형식을 통해 관객과 소통할 수 있는 범문화적인 신화적 공간을 구현함으로써 문화와 언어의 장벽을 뛰어넘는 즐거움을 제공한다. 그의 애니메이션 스토리텔링에는 일본 고유의 전통문화를 기반으로 하는 유무형의 다양한 기호적 요소들이 적극적으로 활용되고 있다. 그리고 그러한 기호들을 통해 함축적 의미작용의 체계를 구성함으로써 관객에게 자의적 해석과 고찰의 미학적 즐거움을 제공하고 있다. 그와 같은 과정 속에서 대립과 공존이라는 보편적 경험 기반의 미학적 형식을 통해 작품 속 함축적 의미의 신화적 메시지를 분명하게 전달시키는 의미체계의 가치를 창출하고 있다. 그것은 바로 하야오가 추구하는 애니메이션 스토리텔링의 소통적 가치라고 할 수 있다.

  • Now when Wests meet Easts, they approach with a motive of acknowledging Eastern or Asian value, concretizing and sharing philosophy. As the result of this study through comparing Eastern and Western view of thinking, First, East is the cosmic beauty of harmony that pursues the harmony with the nature involving emotional and humane affection, and West has the tendency of proportional beauty of harmony involving order and balance. Second, East pursues the metaphorical beauty of mimesis which implies more in invisible parts, and West has the tendency of pursuing visual beauty of mimesis which has contents in visible parts. Third, East is the sublime beauty of nothingness which suggests a blank is endless infinitude of doctrines and mind breath, and West pursues the sublime beauty of being which desires to fill tangible existence without blank. Fourth, East is the expressive beauty that has the intuition of pleasure, which gives weight on non-clearness, emotional joke, and satire, and emphasizes a comic phase, and in West pursuing clearness of order, the concept of the ugliness of disformation is the intuition of defiance, and close to intuition of sadness.

의료기관의 영업활동 현금흐름이 차입금 변동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Cash Flows from Operating Activities on the Changes in Borrowing in General Hospitals and Hospitals)

  • Objectives : Cash Flows from operating activities is the most important part of the cash flow statement and it serves as an important financing source. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the contents of cash flows from operating activities on the changes in borrowings. Methods : In this study financial data from 2011 to 2014 were used to analyz 36 general hospitals and 85 hospitals according to the index displaying variation against the previous year. Results : For general hospitals, borrowings in cash flow from financing activities increased as net income decreased; while depreciation etc increased in cash flow from operating activities. For hospitals, borrowings in cash flow from financing activities increased as the gain on disposition of tangible assets in cash flow from operating activities decreased. Conclusions : General hospitals need to control the management of borrowings and depreciation at the level of funding management; whereas hospitals need to manage of future cash forecasts for stability of operational funds.

  • The new paradigm of urban regeneration, would promote the comprehensive communal view. Therefore, the community role has become an important and necessary for regeneration of communities. It is necessary for urban regeneration which should be matched with the regional characteristics, to develop an evaluation framework that can objectively and accurately diagnose the status of community; so it can be an integrated prescription. A new alternative, asset-based approach may be an alternative to build the community based on opportunities and strengths, which focuses on community inside and things that community have. In this study, a community asset is defined as the tangible and intangible components in the community. A community asset evaluation system is developed through the content analysis related to previous studies of several researchers who investigated the asset-based approaches. Community assets are classified into seven types: human, social, cultural, natural, physical, economic, and political property. Each type is classified into components and establish as a framework with 3 levels in order to set the indicators which can be measured concretely.

  • 본 논문은 기능성 게임의 여러 갈래 중 교육용 기능성 게임 다음으로 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 의료용 기능성 게임에 대해 고찰하고 그 분류 기준을 제안하고자 한다. 또한, 이를 바탕으로 의료용 기능성 게임의 다양한 개발 방향과 활용 가능 영역에 대해 제시하려 한다. 특히 체감형 게임 기술 발전의 영향으로 다양한 동작과 체감형 게임 환경의 이용이 가능해 짐에 따라 이에 기반한 기능성을 지닌 동작 언어 및 콘텐츠가 재활이나 인지 치료 등의 다양한 영역의 기능성 게임으로 활용하기 위한 방안에 대해 모색하고자 한다.

Gesture based Natural User Interface for e-Training

  • Objective: This paper describes the process and results related to the development of gesture recognition-based natural user interface(NUI) for vehicle maintenance e-Training system. Background: E-Training refers to education training that acquires and improves the necessary capabilities to perform tasks by using information and communication technology(simulation, 3D virtual reality, and augmented reality), device(PC, tablet, smartphone, and HMD), and environment(wired/wireless internet and cloud computing). Method: Palm movement from depth camera is used as a pointing device, where finger movement is extracted by using OpenCV library as a selection protocol. Results: The proposed NUI allows trainees to control objects, such as cars and engines, on a large screen through gesture recognition. In addition, it includes the learning environment to understand the procedure of either assemble or disassemble certain parts. Conclusion: Future works are related to the implementation of gesture recognition technology for a multiple number of trainees. Application: The results of this interface can be applied not only in e-Training system, but also in other systems, such as digital signage, tangible game, controlling 3D contents, etc.

  • This paper provides the foundation to settle the new paradigm in the beauty industry service quality by confirming the beauty industry service quality influence on customer satisfaction and loyalty through the actual verification. The scale of this study for measurement of beauty industry service quality is confirmed through the certification of reliability and feasibility with questionnaire investigation after confirmation of contents and preliminary feasibility. The dimensions and items for measurement of beauty industry service quality are selected with service ability(6), tangible(4), responsiveness(3), reliability(2), conveniency(2). And it is confirmed that the level of service quality is changing unlike a beauty-shop facility or cost recognized traditionally as a key factor to occupy the higher position in competition of beauty-shops. This thesis presents the important point of current issue about kinds of strategy which beauty industry should establish in providing the beauty industry service for occupying higher position in keen competition.
