High-Power Water-Cooled RF Load (고출력 마이크로파 수냉식 RF Load 설계)

  • This paper presents the design of a water-cooled radio-frequency(RF) load with simple structure, for use in the ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) band. After establishing a formula to obtain the physical properties that affect RF matching, we measure the permittivity and $tan{\delta}$(Loss tangent) of tap water. Because the temperature of tap water increases upon applying high power, we measure the permittivity and $tan{\delta}$ for all changes in the temperature of tap water. In order to reduce the length of the water-load, molybdate with high $tan{\delta}$ is mixed with tap water. The loss tangent of the mixture is found to be approximately 26 times higher than that of tap water. Finally, we manufacture a water-cooled RF load and measure its characteristics. A reflection coefficient of -19 dB and bandwidth of 15 % is obtained at 460 MHz.

Influence of Glass Dielectric Property on the External Electrode Fluorescent Lamps (유리관의 유전 특성이 외부전극 형광램프에 미치는 영향)

  • Influence of glass dielectric property (dielectric constant K, dielectric loss) on the external electrode fluorescent lamps of the dielectric barrier discharge has been investigated with 4-different glasses. Conventional borosilicate glass tubes with $K=5.6{\sim}5.9$ and tan ${\delta}=5.0{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}6.0{\times}10^{-3}$ and aluminosilicate glass tubes with high K=6.6 and low tan ${\delta}=1{\times}10^{-4}$ and soda-lime glass tribes with K=7.7 and tan ${\delta}=1.37{\times}10^{-2}$ have been compared. The high value of dielectric constant K makes the capacitance of external electrode fluorescent lamps intensity and enhances the discharge efficiency. The dielectric loss of tan ${\delta}$ shows the factor of power consumption in the external electrode to induce heats and to be weak in pinhole stability. The aluminosilicate glass tubes of high K and low tan ${\delta}$ have been enhanced by $14{\sim}18%$ in luminance and efficiency in comparison with the conventional borosilicate glass tubes and the aluminosilicate external electrode fluorescent lamps are strong against the pinhole formation. Soda-lime glass tubes with high K and high tan ${\delta}$ are a little favorable in luminance and efficiency and they are very weak in pinhole occurrence.

Physical Properties of the Silica-Reinforced Tire Tread Compounds by the Increased Amount of Vulcanization Agents (가교제 증량이 트레드용 실리카 컴파운드의 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, effect of different amounts of sulfur and vulcanization accelerators in the acrylonitrile styrene-butadiene rubber (AN-SBR)/silica compounds on the properties of tire tread compound were studied. As a result, cure rate and degree of cross-linking of the compounds were increased due to enhanced cross-linking reactivity by the increased amounts of sulfur and vulcanization accelerators. Also, abrasion resistance and the mechanical properties such as hardness and modulus of the compounds were improved by enhanced degree of cross-linking of the compounds. For the dynamic properties, tan ${\delta}$ value at $0^{\circ}C$ was increased due to the increase of glass transition temperature ($T_g$) by enhanced degree of cross-linking of the compound, and tan ${\delta}$ value at $60^{\circ}C$ was decreased. Initial cure time ($t_1$) showed the linear relationship with tan ${\delta}$ value at $60^{\circ}C$. This result is attributed that reduced initial cure time ($t_1$) of compounds by applying increased amount of curatives can form cross-linking in early stage of vulcanization that may suppress development of filler network. This result is verified by observation on the surface of annealed compounds using AFM (atomic force microscopy). Consequently, decreased initial cure time is considered a very important parameter to reduce tan ${\delta}$ at $60^{\circ}C$ through reduced re-agglomeration of silica particles.

Analysis of Insulation Quality in Large Generator Stator Windings

  • To evaluate the condition of stator winding insulation in generators that have been operated for a long period of time, diagnostic tests were performed on the stator bars of a 500 MW, 22 kV generator under accelerated thermal and electrical aging procedures. The tests included measurements of AC current (${\Delta}I$), dissipation factor ($tan{\delta}$), partial discharge (PD) magnitude, and capacitance (C). In addition, the AC current test was performed on the stator winding of a 350 MW, 24 kV generator under operation to confirm insulation deterioration. The values of ${\Delta}I$, ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$, and PD magnitude in one stator bar indicated serious insulation deterioration. In another stator bar, the ${\Delta}I$ measurements showed that the insulation was in good condition, whereas the values of ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and PD magnitude indicated an incipient stage of insulation deterioration. Measurements of ${\Delta}I$ and PD magnitude in all three phases (A, B, C) of the remaining generator stator windings showed that they were in good condition, although the ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ measurements suggested that the condition of the insulation should be monitored carefully. Overall analysis of the results suggested that the generator stator windings were in good condition. The patterns of PD magnitude in all three phases (A, B, C) were attributed to internal discharge.

Analysis of Insulation Condition in High Voltage Motor Stator Windings Following Cleaning and Insulation Reinforcement (세척과 절연보강에 따른 고압전동기 고정자 권선의 절연상태 분석)

  • Diagnostic tests were performed on two high voltage(HV) motor stator windings. These tests included the measurement of insulation resistance, polarization index, AC current, dissipation factor($tan{\delta}$) and partial discharge(PD) magnitude. Surface contamination of HV motor stator windings has an effect on the AC current and $tan{\delta}$. When the stator windings were finished cleaning and insulation reinforcement, the increase rate of AC current(${\Delta}I$) and dissipation factor(${\Delta}tan{\delta}$) were very small compared to those before cleaning. However, the PD magnitude remained the same. These tests show that cleaning and insulation reinforcement of HV motor stator windings can reduce the insulation failure.

Dielectric Properties of XLPE/Semiconductor Sheet in Power Cables (전력케이블용 XLPE/반도전층의 유전 특성)

  • We studied the dielectric properties and voltage dependence on slice XLPE sheet from 22 kV and 154 kV power cables. Interface structures are XLPE/semiconductor and XLPE/water/semiconductor capacitance and tan6 of 22 kV, 154 kV were 52/42 pF and $7.4\times{10}/^{-4}, 2.15\times{10}^{-4}$, respectively in these results, the trend was increased with the increase of temperature the tan$\delta$ of XLPE/semiconductive layer and XLPE/water/ semiconductive layer were increased as compared with that of XLPE Temperature reliability of tan$\delta$ was small.

  • In this paper, epoxy elasticity factors were investigated by TMA (Thermomechanical Analysis), DMTA (Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis) and FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) to improve toughness and reduce brittleness of existing epoxy resin. Dumbbell shaped specimens were made and tested at rates of 0, 20 and 35phr (part per hundred resins). TMA temperatures ranged from -2$0^{\circ}C$ to 20$0^{\circ}C$. Tg (glass transition temperature) of elastic epoxy was measured by thermal analysis. Also investigated were thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha$), modulus and Tan$\delta$ (loss factor). And we analyzed structure through FESEM, could find elastic-factors of elastic epoxy that is not existing-epoxy. In addition, we measured permittivity and Tan$\delta$ for investigation of the electrical properties of elastic epoxy. Permittivity and Tan$\delta$ depend on elastomer composition. Namely, permittivity and Tan$\delta$ increase according to the elastomer contents. For experimental analysis results, 20phr was considered an excellent specimen.

Effect of temperature on the rheological properties of dental interocclusal recording materials

  • The purpose of this study was to compare rheological properties of six dental interocclusal recording materials and to investigate the effect of temperature on the rheological properties during setting. Five polyvinylsiloxane materials and one polyether material were investigated in this study. The storage modulus (G') and the loss factor ($tan{\delta}$) were measured from 30s after mixing during setting, using the universal dynamic spectrometer. Viscoelastic properties were evaluated by means of G' and $tan{\delta}$ from 5 repeats at $21^{\circ}C$ and $33^{\circ}C$. Individual changes during setting were also evaluated. All data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple comparison $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test at the significance level of 0.05. The mean of G was checked at $t_{set}$ (the setting time provided from manufacturer) and $t_{300}$ (the end of experimental time) and the mean of $tan{\delta}$ was checked at to and $t_{set}$. Whereas the increase of the G' value showed generally exponential changes at $21^{\circ}C$, the change of the G' value at $33^{\circ}C$ displayed sigmoidal curves during setting. The change of loss factor $tan{\delta}$ during setting varied. Within the limitations of this study, dental interocclusal recording materials had different viscoelastic properties and most of the materials showed different fluidity at $21^{\circ}C$ and $33^{\circ}C$.

Capacitance and $tan{\delta}$ of 22[kV], 154[kV] were 52/42 pF and $7.4{\times}10^{-4}$, $2.1510^{-4}$, respectively. In these results, the trend was increased with the increase of temperature. The $tan{\delta}$ of XLPE/semiconductive layer and XLPE/water/semiconductive layer were increased as compared with that of XLPE. dielectric properties reliability of $tan{\delta}$ was small.

The Effect of Cure System for the Viscoelastic Properties of Vulcanized Rubber (가황시스템 변화가 가황고무의 점탄성적 특성에 미치는 효과)

  • Rebound, storage and loss modulus, and tan ${\delta}$ were investigated on cured rubbers with various ratios of sulfur to accelerator and the volume fraction of carbon black in the cured rubbers. The rebound was increased as the sulfur to accelerator ratio and the volume fraction of carbon black decreased. The storage modulus decreased as the loading of carbon black and the strain increased regardless of the cure systems. The network structure formed by filler-filler interaction was destroyed above 6% strain regardless of the loading of carbon black, because constant storage modulus was shown at the higher strain than 3% for $40{\sim}50phr$ loading of carbon black and at the higher strain than 6% for 60 phr and above loading of carbon black. Little effect on loss modulus was found at the low loading of carbon black, but the peak of loss modulus was shown at 1% strain as the loading of carbon black was increased. Tan ${\delta}$ increased as the loading of carbon black and the strain were increased regardless of the cure system, and maximum tan ${\delta}$ was shown at 2% strain regardless of the loading of carbon black.
