A new paradigm of design lays stress on the world of metaphysical concepts, and various attempts are being made to give meaning to psychological values. Hotel is a memorable place to remind of a special moment in one's life such as travel, marriage, meeting and so on. It also contains even more symbolism than other spaces as it is the place where the most primary and private act takes place apart from one's residence. As a result, it is also possible to communicate the message which a designer intends to convey through the user's recognition in the form of various symbolic expressions in space design. The designer communicates a meaning into a space through a symbolic system and creates a mutual consensus by means of the understanding structure of "designer-space-user". The user's diverse interpretations through a symbol are based on epistemology and consist of the primary, the secondary and the tertiary recognition structure system in the aspect of their contents. The primary structure depends on sensual perception, impressive idea and transcendental recognition based on metaphysical and perceptional association. The secondary structure includes casualty, continuous deduction and rational(integral) recognition. Finally, the tertiary structure is sublimation to the transcendental mental world beyond the boundary of emotion and it is classified into fundamental recognition structure on an object and archetypical recognition structure on an ego. These characteristics can derive systematic understandings and diverse interpretations on the symbol from the space of a hotel through the frame of analysis based on the artistic form of monosemous, polysemous and multidimensional frameworks and symbols. The framework of this analysis includes all the cases, and various methods which haven't been attempted in practice are presented. Therefore this study is not just a simple analysis of space but rather it will serve as a methodological tool for design that allows for various attempts of symbolic design concepts in the recognition structure system.

The purpose of this study is to express display space according to a way of symbols' meanings, to apply and study the way that systemizes, specifies and objectifies the approaches to designs when the space is expressed. The study will present applicable characteristics in expressing the display space by analyzing visitors' symbolic nature prior to the specification of space expression. The study way is to analyze the definition, structure, system, characteristic and meaning-applied ways of the symbols through symbolic theoretical considerations, to show communication's accessibility applying the symbol-produced ways to the relationship between the conception and the components in expressing the exhibition space and finally to present the way to express the exhibition space through the symbols' meaning-produced ways.

The purpose of this study is to find out to meaning and practical use of 'Anbang' of which unique roles and function has not been changed till now since Chosun dynasty. The Study has been carried out by selecting 27 novels in which the word 'Anbang' mentioned frequently and analyzing the sentences with 'Anbang' . The major finding were summarized as follows: 1. Since Chosun dynasty till now, 'Anbang' in most important space for Korean in residential area its meaning and practical use had not been changed. 2. The meaning of Anbang could be categorized into two parts; One was general symbolic meaning which was perceived mentally in general and the other was specific symbolic meaning which was varied by uses. In case of general symbolic meaning 'Anbang' implied a space with light turned on late at night, a very special space from the point of interior decoration and size, a space to keep very important stuffs and a space to deal with very important business. In case of specific symbolic meaning during Chosun dynasty, 'Anbang' was used as a pronoun to imply a mistress as major occupant was a mistress. Since then, gradually, 'Anbang' was used as a pronoun to imply married couple as married couple becomes major occupant. 3. The practical use of 'Anbang' cold be categorized into two; One was routine usage and the other was exceptional usage. The typical routine use were sleeping, dining family gathering, visitor greeting, clothes changing and sewing. The exceptional use were a Sebae(new year's bow), Pyebaek(make a deep bow and offer her gifts to her parents-in-law) and patient curing.

The purpose of this study is to discover the meaning of water and traditional water space by the literature review and field study of the water space in Korea. The water and water space were symbolized by mythology, elm-yang-oh-hang, feng-shui, taoism and confucian ideas, buddhism, shin-sun ideas, shijo and landscape panting. That is, the symbolic meanings of water and water space are melt in arts and thoughts. According to literature review and field study, the water and water space represent symbolic meanings, integration with nature, reflection of nature, territoriality, role of boundary, purgation, centralization and practical application.

이에 본 논문에서는 이동 객체의 위치를 향상 명시적으로 결정할 수 있는 추적 가능 실내 기호 공간(Trackable Indoor Symbolic Space)을 정의하고, 이러한 공간을 정의하기 위한 규칙들을 제안한다 위치를 좌표로 나타내는 실외 공간의 응용 프로그램들과는 달리, 대부분의 실내공간의 응용 프로그램들은 위치를 방 번호와 같은 기호적 값으로 표현하는 기호참조체계를 이용한다 이에, 본 논문에서는 실내기호공간의 개념과 실내 기호공간에서의 이동객체의 위치 추정에 대해 소개하고, 추정 가능한 실내공간을 만들기 위한 규칙과 방법을 제안하고 있다.

Nonlinear equation of motion of the flexible manipulator are derived by the Lagrangian method in symbolic form to better understand the structure of the dynamic model. The resulting equations of motion have a structure which is useful to reduce the number of terms calculated, to check correctness, or to extend the model to high order. A manipulator with a flexible 4 bar link mechanism is a constrained system whose equations are sensitive to numerical integration error. This constrained system is solved using the null space matrix of the constraint Jacobian matrix. Singular value decomposition is a stable algorithm to find the null space matrix.

오늘날 데이터는 p-차원의 공간에서 점들로써 표현되는 전통적인 형태를 벗어나 시그널(signal), 함수, 이미지(image), 모양(shape) 등과 같은 다양한 형태의 자료들이 데이터로써 고려되고 분석되고있다. 그러한 종류의 새로운 종류의 데이터 중 하나로 심볼릭 데이터(symbolic data)를 고려할 수 있다. 심볼릭 데이터는 구간(interval), 히스토그램(histogram), 목록(list), 통계표, 분포, 또는 모형 등과 같은 다양한 형태들을 가질 수 있다. 지금까지의 연구가 주로 심볼릭 데이터의 각각의 형태별 자료를 고려했다면, 본 연구에서는 이를 확장하여 수집된 히스토그램과 멀티모달의 혼합된 형태로 이루어진 자료에 대한 계층 분할적 군집분석방법을 소개하고 이를 업종별 산업재해자료의 분석을 위해 이용한다.

The first-order Taylor series expansion can be evaluated analytically from the formulated symbolic nonlinear dynamic equations. A closed-form linear dynamic euation is derived about a nominal trajectory. The state space representation of the linearized dynamics can be derived easily from the closed-form linear dynamic equations. But manual symbolic expansion of dynamic equations and linearization is tedious, time-consuming and error-prone. So it is desirable to manipulate the procedures using a computer. In this paper, the analytic linearization is performed using the symbolic language MATHEMATICA. Two examples are given to illustrate the approach anbd to compare nonlinear model with linear model.

본 논문에서는 입력패턴을 triple rail-coding 방식으로 표현한 후 입력의 직렬연결 방법으로 기호치환을 수행하는 광 병렬 변형부호화자리수 가산 시스템을 제안하였다. Triple rail-coding 방식으로 변형부호화자리수 입력을 표현할 때 중복연산 결과가 나오는 입력들은 동일한 패턴으로 전처리하여 기호치환과정의 규칙수를 줄였고, 광 구현시 공간 이동된 입력패턴을 직렬로 연결하여 광을 통과시킴으로써 공간 이동 연산, NOR 연산, 그리고 문턱치 연산과정이 필요 없는 광 가산기를 구현하였다.

The residence plan of Korea has been formed with bias for quantitative growth and uniformity failing at obtaining human value. Also, rapid growth brought about severe problems of deteriorated human life and destruction of environment. The solution for these problems is pursued in many directions, but there is short of active plan yet. The residence shall develop into new direction to satisfy the demand by reflecting society and culture as well as residents. This study examines external design with symbolic representation of regional feature as an alternative for uniform residence environment problem. This study will be a basic data upon suggesting the direction for planning high quality residence environment. This study examined the elements which form external space of residence complex, designed plan for external space of residence complex, and examined how to reflect regional feature which is important element of local community and culture on the space plan for residence complex based on the evaluation by local residents centered on Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk which just started local specialty by fostering. 'Special Area for Grape Industry.'
