Symbol Detection Methods for DFEs in Trellis Coded Modulation Systems (격자코드 변조 시스템에서 DFE의 심볼판정 알고리즘 제안)

  • 이 논문은 Trellis Coded Modulation 시스템에서 궤한 채널 등화기의 성능 향상을 위한 효율적인 심볼 판정 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 심벌 판정기는 Trellis 코드의 구조를 이용하여 심벌 에러율 을 향상시킨다. 예컨대 8-PAM시그널의 경우 20dB SNR에서 기존 강제 심볼 판정기의 에러율 $2.5{\times}10^{-2}$에서 $2{\times}10^{-5}$으로 향상되었다. 이런 판정기의 심벌 에러율 의 개선은 다중경로채널에서의 DFE의 심벌 에러율을 성능을 향상시키는데 본 논문의 시뮬레이션 결과 심벌 에러율 0.26에서 0.01 과 0.005 으로 개선되었음을 확인하였다.

Rician-Nakagami 페이딩 채널에서 M-PSK와 M-DPSK 시스템에 대한 효과적인 점근적 심볼 에러 확률 성능 분석 (Effective Asymptotic SER Performance Analysis for M-PSK and M-DPSK over Rician-Nakagami Fading Channels)

  • Using the existing exact but quite complicated symbol error rate (SER) expressions for M-ary phase shift keying (M-PSK) and M-ary differential phase shift keying (M-DPSK), we derive effective and concise closed-form asymptotic SER formulas especially in Rician-Nakagami fading channels. The derived formulas can be utilized to efficiently verify the achievable error rate performances of M-PSK and M-DPSK systems for the Rician-Nakagami fading environments. In addition, by exploiting the modulation gains directly obtained from the asymptotic SER formulas, we also theoretically demonstrate that M-DPSK suffers an asymptotic SER performance loss of 3.01dB with respect to M-PSK for a given M in Rician-Nakagami fading channels at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

SER Analysis of QAM with Space Diversity in Rayleigh Fading Channels

  • This paper derives the symbol error probability for quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) with L-fold space diversity in Rayleigh fading channels. Two combining techniques, maximal ratio combining(MRC) and selection combining(SC), are considered. The formula for MRC space diversity is obtained by averaging the symbol error probability of M-ary QAM in an additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel over a chi-square distribution with 2L degrees of freedom. The obtained formula overcomes the limitations of the earlier work, which has been limited only to deriving the symbol error rate(SER) of QAM with two branch MRC space diversity. The formula for SC space diversity is obtained by averaging the symbol error probability of M-ary QAM in an AWGN channel over the distribution of the maximum signal-to noise ratio among all of the diversity channels for SC space diversity has been reported yet. Analytical results show that the probability of error decreases with the order of diversity gain per additional branch decreases as the number of branches becomes larger. On the other hand, the performance of 16 QAM with MRC becomes much better than that of SC as the number of branches becomes larger. By giving the order of diversity, L, and the number of signal points, M, we have been able to obtain the SER performance of QAM with general space diversity. These results can be used to determine the order of diversity to achieve the desired SER in land mobile communication system employing QAM modulation.

  • 본 논문에서는 송수신단 간 변조기법 및 채널 상태 값이 약속되지 않은 완벽한 블라인드 통신 상황에서 송신측의 변조방식을 알아내기 위해 성좌도 회전 및 확률밀도함수(probability density function : pdf)를 이용한 새로운 자율 변조 구분(Automatic modulation classification : AMC)기법과 경험적 신호 그룹화 알고리즘을 통해 채널 상태 값을 추정하는 방법을 제안한다. 평균제곱근 편차(Root mean square error : RMSE) 및 심볼 오류율(Symbol error rate : SER) 등의 모의실험을 통해 제안된 기법과 기존의 다른 기법간의 채널 상태와 변조 추정 능력을 비교 평가한다.

  • In this paper, novel approximated closed-form expressions of the SER(Symbol Error Rate) and BER(Bit Error Rate) are presented for the multi-input multi-output space-time block coding(MIMO-STBC) system employing two transmit and N receive antenna(s) in Rayleigh fading channels. Assuming a zero-forcing equalizer and a single-symbol maximum-likelihood (ML) decoder, the formulas are derived for the SER and BER, and then their approximated counterparts are also derived. In the derivation of the approximated expressions, acurve-fitting model is adopted that can eliminate the integral operators in the exact expressions.

SER Analysis of Multi-Way Relay Networks with M-QAM Modulation in the Presence of Imperfect Channel Estimation

  • Multi-way relay networks (MWRNs) allow multiple users to exchange information with each other through a single relay terminal. MWRNs are often incorporated with capacity achieving lattice codes to enable the benefits of high-rate signal constellations to be extracted. In this paper, we analytically characterize the symbol error rate (SER) performance of a functional decode and forward (FDF) MWRN in the presence of channel estimation errors. Considering M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) with square constellations as an important special case of lattice codes, we obtain asymptotic expressions for the average SER for a user in FDF MWRN. The accuracy of the analysis at high signal-to-noise ratio is validated by comparison with the simulation results. The analysis shows that when a user decodes other users with better channel conditions than itself, the decoding user experiences better error performance. The analytical results allow system designers to accurately assess the non-trivial impact of channel estimation errors and the users' channel conditions on the SER performance of a FDF MWRN with M-QAM modulation.

반송파 주파수 옵셋에 따른 OFDM M-ary QAM 시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance of OFDM M-ary QAM System in the presence of Carrier Frequency Offset)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속 광대역의 정보신호를 다중경로 페이딩 환경에서 효율적으로 전송하기 위하여 M-ary QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) 신호와 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing : 직교 주파수 분할 다중화) 전송방식을 사용할 때, 반송파의 주파수 \ulcorner셋이 발생하는 동기오차가 수신시스템에 미치는 영향과 이에 따른 OFDM-16QAM 및 OFDM-64QAM의 수신 SER(Symbol Error Rate) 성능을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, OFDM 전송시스템에서 반송파의 주파수 \ulcorner셋에 의한 인접 부채널간 간섭은 부반송파의 개수에 비례하여 크게 증가하였고, 높은 신호대 잡음전력비에서도 SER 성능에 error floor가 발생하였다. 즉, OFDM-64QAM의 경우, OFDM-16QAM보다 주파수 \ulcorner셋에 의한 SER 성능열화가 커서 정규화된 반송파의 주파수 \ulcorner셋이 0.011일 때 SER=1$\times$10-7에서 error floor가 발생하였다. 따라서, 본 연구를 통해 OFDM-16QAM과 OFDM-64QAM 시스템에서 요구 SER 성능을 만족하기 위해 허용 가능한 최대 주파수 \ulcorner셋을 결정할 수 있다.

Simplified approach for symbol error rate analysis of SC-FDMA scheme over Rayleigh fading channel

  • In this paper, we present a comprehensive analytical study of the symbol error rate (SER) of single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) with zero-forcing frequency domain equalization (ZF-FDE) over a Rayleigh fading channel. SC-FDMA is considered as a potential waveform candidate for fifth-generation (5G) radio access networks (RANs). First, the $N_C$ fold convolution of the noise distribution of an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is computed for each value of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in order to determine the noise distribution of the SC-FDMA system. $N_C$ is the number of subcarriers assigned to a user or the size of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) precoding. Here, we present a simple alternative method of calculating the SER by simplifying the $N_C$ fold convolution using time and amplitude scaling properties. The effects of the $N_C$ fold convolution and SNR over the computation of the SER of the SC-FDMA system has been separated out. As a result, the proposed approach only requires the computation of the $N_C$ fold convolution once, and it is used for different values of SNR to calculate the SER of SC-FDMA systems.

  • 본 논문에서는 DPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), MQAM(M-ary quadrature Amplitude Modulation), OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex)-MQAM, OFDM-DPSK 변조 방식에 대한 SER(Symbol Error Rate)을 위상 잡음에 대한 영향을 정량적으로 도출하였다. 시뮬레이션(MATLAB)을 이용하여 위상 잡음이 없는 이상적인 경우와 비교하였으며, 또한 상기 변조 방식에 대하여 심벌 레이트와 변조 대역폭간의 비에 따른 위상 잡음 영향을 분석하였고, 각 변조에서 요구되는 최소 위상 잡음 조건을 제시하고 도출하였다.
