메시지 표현방법으로서의 기호-광고 디자인을 중심으로- (Semiology as a Way of Expression for Message-focused on the advertising design-)

  • 현대의 소비자들은 어떤 상품을 구매할 때 상품의 효융성을 기초로한 사용가치보다 상징적, 혹은 기호적 가치에 더 열중한다. 그런 경향은 단지 상품만이 아니고 사라으 이별 등 추상적 심리에도 마찬가지로 적용되어 상품을 만드는 생산자나 상품을 팔기 위해 광고를 집행하는 송신자에게 많은 과제를 던져주고 있다. 그간의 소비자는 상품의 기능, 효율성, 가격을 요리조리 견주고 따져서 구매를 하였다. 그래서 생산자는 상품의 기능및 효능에 대하여 많은 비중을 두고 철저히 연구를 하였으며 상품의 부가가치를 올리는 디자인에는 상대적으로 적은 비중을 두었었다. 그러나'90년대 이후의 소비자는 기능, 효율성은 물론이고 그 상품과 자신과의 새로운 장면을 만들어낼 기능이외의 부가가치에 관심을 표출하기 시작했다. 그 장면 속에서 자신과 제품과 의 관계를 연출해 본 후 제품의 의미를 구매하는 것이다. 이는 상품의 부가가치 즉 외관디자인, 분위기에 많은 치중을 하고 있다는 것이다. 따라서 송신자는 소비자의 마음을 읽는 감성 마케팅 또는 감성 디자인을 하지 않으면 안되게 되었다. 이 논문에서는 시각디자인의 표현방법에 있어서 디자인 요소 즉 Typo Geaphy, 사진, 일러스트레이션, 다이아그램 등과 같은 시각적인 표현만이 아닌 소비자들의 감성기호 즉 기쁨, 즐거움, 화려함과 같은 느낌을 줄 수 있고 느끼게 할 수 있는 의미론적인 방법에 대해 서술하고 또 그방법들은 어떤 효과를 가져 오는지에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다.

  • Before the information revolution, written languages used to be our major communication method, but with development of various types of mass media technologies the role of visual images are becoming more and more essential. Computer which is one of the most popular information medias of today has influenced our lives in many ways including the way we communicate through icons. The current study first explores Peirce's semiotic theory and then accordingly Investigates programs, concepts and expressions of iconic designs. Lastly, analyze modern iconic architectural design examples by using the theoretical framework in order to define concepts of semiotic and its relationship architectural design applications as design methods.

제주 해녀문화를 기반으로 한 어패럴디자인 개발 (The Development of Apparel Design based on JEJU Haenyeo Culture)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a new method to develop the apparel design applied construction of traditional swimsuit wearing Jeju woman divers known as Haenyeo. Jeju Haenyeos are represented as an image of the diligent and strong woman. With such an image, they have become the symbol of Jeju women. Furthermore, Jeju Haeyeo culture will be rebranded. The Jeju woman divers wear special swimsuit (Mul-sojungii) when harvesting the various sea products. The Mul-sojungii was buttoned down the right side so that it could be easily removed. Therefore, it is to review the fashion design products for effective item applied the original or modified folding technique of Mul-sojungii. As a result, it was to develop the bolero, jump suit and dress design of Korean image using folding technique(Guljapgi) of Mul-sojungii that is one of the unique, indigenous construction of Jeju.

VLSI의 논리 설계 자동화를 위한 ASM 도표와 SDL (ASM Chart and SDL for VLSI Logic Design Automation)

  • This paper proposes a new algorithmic state machine(ASM) chart and a new hardware description for automatic logic design of VLSI. To describe the behavioral characteristics of the design specification, the conventional ASM chart is modified, and a new hardware description language, SDL, is proposed. The SDL is one-to-one correspondent to the proposed ASM chart symbol, and can be used in a hierachical design of VLSI. As a design example, we obtain a logic circuit diagram of gate lebel utilizing a SDL hardware compiler after drawing an ASM chart and describing in SDL.

유·아동복 브랜드 구성요소의 특성 (Characteristics of Components in Infant and Children's Clothing Brand)

  • Despite the recession that has affected people's consumption of clothing, the 'Gold Kids' market shows steady growth. This study analyzed the characteristics of components that make up infant and children's wear brands. Firstly, this study found the linguistic features of infant and children's clothing brands. Most brand names have common characteristics such as idiomatic expressions, combination and separation of vocabulary, and more than 6 syllables. Also, when they formative brand quality, they frequently used words like 'girl', 'kid' and 'baby' to clarify the category of the brand product. Also it is meant to present a clear brand concept to the target consumer to offer their brand information and product characteristics. Moreover, English is widely used in the brand names, and they used appropriate symbol graphics that fit the titles and qualities of the brands. Second, to strengthen their brand identity and inherent concepts, infant and children's clothing brands normally use their own particular brand colors wich makes special and strong visual impressions on the target consumer. Also, they mainly use applied sans serif typeface showing the softer brand quality. Brand logos have different visual expressions depending on their brand value and the target consumer. The word type of the logos presents clear brand identity and information to the target consumer. Through the study, we found that infant and children's clothing brands tend to use written brand names for the logo type more than graphic symbol logo patterns. This indicates that infant and children's clothing brands tend to emphasize information transfer rather than visual graphic symbols when they organize brand logos.

근.현대 한국 여성 복식에 나타난 여성 성역할 변화 연구 (A Study on the Gender Role Changes of Korean Women Reflected on Women's Costume Design during 20th Century)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the gender role changes of Korean women reflected on their costumes during 20th century. To analyze the diachronic gender role changes, social environments(education, job, economy, family systems, mass-media) of 20 th century were inquired by 10 years and comparatively analyzed with 680 images of representative costumes each periods. The results are as followed. 1) $1900s{\sim}1910s$: The most representative women's gender role was a wise mother and good wife. Therefore the adopted western costume, a symbol of civilization, were represented women as a passive and sexual object of man. 2) $1920s{\sim}1930s$: 'Shin Yeosung(Modern Girl)' was the representative gender role of that time. They were the symbol of enlightenment and new education. Their costumes influenced to the changes of traditional Hanbok in functional side. 3) $1940s{\sim}1950s$: In World War II. a strong and stubborn women were wanted to support their family. They threw feminity and changed their costumes into an active and functional 'Mombbe'. 4) $1960s{\sim}1970s$: Women asserted Gender equality and resisted the traditional women's gender role. Mini Skirts and Unisex costumes were symbolic costumes reflecting the changes. 5) 1980s: The self confidence of women's gender role affected the androgynous look and body-conscious look in modern fashion. 6) $1990s{\sim}2000s$: Now, the dichotomy of gender role is not no longer effective way to understand the social changes and fashion trend rather than personal characteristics and lifestyle trends.

패션 일러스트레이션에 표현된 스테레오타입 여성성 (Stereotype Femininity Expressed in Fashion Illustration)

  • This study analyzes the stereotyped femininity with a focus on body codes, which has been continuously expressed in fashion illustrations from the late $19^{th}$ century to the year 2010, and examines the changes in its meaning. Stereotyped femininity was reorganized by the changes in female sex role effected by social changes, as well as by the body discourse and feminism in the late $20^{th}$ century, These socio-cultural backgrounds led to the change in the meaning of stereotyped women expressed in fashion illustrations. The stereotyped women in fashion illustrations are characterized by gender-oriented body, and the typical image of women was reproduced with the marks of poses and looks that feature passiveness and subordination. Then, the gender-oriented body since 1990's shifted to active meaning that positively revealed sexual desire. The space positioned by women is also the symbol of gender. In line with changes over time, the backgrounds in fashion illustrations have changed from private space such as home and nature to public space such as city, which reflects diversification and expansion of space for women. This study has identified the changes in meaning, based on the analysis of the characteristics of stereotyped women expressed in fashion illustrations. Above all, women who were objectified as a subject by dominant discourse have established the concept of active body as an entity. In addition, the symbol of typical femininity is "slim" and "beauty", which reflects the change from the emphasis on childbirth-related femininity to self-control and conquer. On the other hand, the typical features expressed through body have reproduced dichotomous structure, but the emergence of body and background deviated from gender has reorganized the symbolic order of gender.

아동영문어휘책에 제시된 그림과 문자의 사용에 대한 분석 (Analysis on the Use of Picture and Letter Used in the Books of English Vocabulary for Children)

  • 본 논문은 현재 출간된 아동영문어휘책의 현황분석을 통해 그림과 문자의 관계적 속성을 이해하고 사용자인 아동을 고려해 시각적 심상을 얼마나 잘 활용하고 있는가를 파악하고자 하였다. 이에 아동영문어휘책에 사용된 그림의 유형과 그림의 활용도, 그림과 문자의 결합 형태, 그림과 문자와의 의미일치도 정도를 살펴보았다. 분석결과 그림의 활용도는 일러스트, 만화, 일러스트와 만화의 혼용 순으로 전반적으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그림과 문자의 결합 형태에서는 그림+어휘형, 일러스트가 없는 문자형, 그림문자형 순으로 나타났다. 특히나 그림과 문자의 의미일치도가 높을수록 학습에 효과적인데 반해 의미일치도는 전반적으로 낮게 나타났다. 의미일치도가 높게 나타난 5개의 그룹 중 그림문자형이 가장 높은 결합형태 빈도를 보이고 있었다. 따라서 현재 출간된 아동영문어휘책에 나타난 그림과 문자의 제시형태는 비슷한 형태로 출판사별로 출간되고 있음을 알 수 있었고 아동의 다양한 수준을 바탕으로 한 효과적인 디자인연구가 필요하다고 보아진다.

명성황후가 등장하는 TV사극에 나타난 의상에 관한 연구[제2보] - 주요 등장 인물의 의상 표현을 중심으로 - (A Study of The Costume in the Historical TV Drama that the Empress Myungsung Appeared - Focus on Costume of Main Character -)

  • This Study is to analyze characteristics of costume change of according to the status of character succeeding the investigation of the ceremonial costume change in historical TV dramas that The Empress Myungsung entered. For this study, the costume images among historical TV dramas, that Myungsung entered, '500 years of Chosun Dynastyv, Taewongun(1990, MBC)', 'The Glorious Dawn(1993, KBS1)', 'The Empress Myungsung(2001, KBS2)'were used: The characteristics of the costume change of main character are as follows. First, main character's costume has been increase gradually in number and item. Second, Especially in the last work,'The Empress Myungsung', the royal costume based on historical evidence in aspects of silhouette, but it didn't according to the historical costume in aspects of color and textile. Nevertheless the costume reveals the status of each person significantly. Third, the costumes of the recent historical drama appears as a optical symbol that represents historical view point and different interpretation of each drama. Therefore the costume according to the status of the character wrong from the historical point of view. Consequently, TV costume in historical drama Myungsung entered has been focused on the beauty of the screen and dramatic effect than historical viewpoint. So the costume have been to be an essential visual part by means of the symbol revealed the purpose.
