In industrial field, electric fork-lift has been mainly powered by batteries which are varied from DC 36V to 80V. Operating electric fork-lift truck depends on stable electric power supplies which are ensured by using Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS). This paper presents design of SMPS for stable electric power supply. The SMPS has much strength such as high effectiveness, low cost and high stability of output voltage. At the same time, SMPS is small and multi output and has simple design of circuit.
A discrete controller is designed for low power dc-dc switched mode power supplies. The approach is based on time domain and the control loop continuously and concurrently tunes the compensator parameters to meet the converter specifications. A digital state feedback control combined with the load estimator provides a complete compensation, which further improves the dynamic performance of the closed loop system. Simulation of digitally controlled Buck converter is performed with MATLAB/Simulink. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller using LabVIEW with a data acquisition card (model DAQ Pad - 6009).
A power device is a component used as a switch or rectifier in power electronics to control high voltages. Consequently, power devices are used to improve the efficiency of electric-vehicle (EV) chargers, new energy generators, welders, and switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). Power device designs, which require high voltage, high efficiency, and high reliability, are typically based on MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) and IGBT (insulated-gate bipolar transistor) structures. As a unipolar device, a MOSFET has the advantage of relatively fast switching and low tail current at turn-off compared to IGBT-based devices, which are built on bipolar structures. A superjunction structure adds a p-base region to allow a higher yield voltage due to lower RDS (on) and field dispersion than previous p-base components, significantly reducing the total gate charge. To verify the basic characteristics of the superjunction, we worked with a planar type MOSFET and Synopsys' process simulation T-CAD tool. A basic structure of the superjunction MOSFET was produced and its changing electrical characteristics, tested under a number of environmental variables, were analyzed.
A three-phase, three-switch, and three-level boost-type PWM rectifier (Vienna rectifier) is proposed as an active front-end power factor correction (PFC) rectifier for telecom loads. The proposed active front-end PFC rectifier system is modeled by the switching cycle average model. The relation between duty ratios and DC link capacitor voltages is derived in terms of the system input currents. Furthermore, the feasible switching states are identified and applied to the proposed system to reduce the switching stress and DC ripples. A detailed equivalent circuit analysis of the proposed front-end PFC rectifier is conducted, and its performance is verified through simulations in MATLAB. Simulation results are verified using an experimental setup of an active front-end PFC rectifier that was developed in the laboratory. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the improved power quality parameters that are in accordance with the IEEE and IEC standards.
The Fe-base amorphous ribbons with 15mm width and about 20x10S0-6Tm thickness, (FeS179-xTCrS1xT)BS116TSiS15T and (FeS181-xTMnS1xT) BS112TSiS17T (x:0-6), were prepared melt spinner. The thickness of the ribbons followed by PFC (Planar Flow Casting). The initial permeability and total core losses were measured as a function of additive elements (Cr, Mn) and annealing conditions in high frequency for the purpose of using these materials as a core of magnetic amplifier and switched mode power supplies. The initial permeabilities were enhanced and core losses were decreased by non-magnetic field annealing in proper conditions. The lowest core loss in 0.2T/10kHz was measured at 3% Cr addition amorphous ribbon, and the loss was 5.6W/kg. The permeability of the ribbon at 10kHz was about 9000.
Increasing the switching frquency is essential to achieve the high density of switched mode power supplies, but this leads to the increase of switching losses. A number of new soft switching converters have been presented ot reduce switching losses, but most of them may have some demerits, such as the increase of voltage/current stresses and high conduction losses. To overcome these problems, the ZVT-PWM converter has recently been presented. in this paper, the operation characteristics of the ZVT-PWM boost converter is analyzed, and the steady-states (DC) and small-signal model of this converter are derived and analyzed, and then the transfer functions of this converter are derived. The transfer functions of ZVT-PWM boost converter are similar to those of the conventional PWM boost converter, but the transfer characteristics are affecsted by te duty ratio and the switching frequency.

Switched mode power supplies (SMPS) are power electronic circuits extensively used in a wide range of applications. High frequency switching operation of SMPS causes electromagnetic emissions and has the potential to interfere with system operation, which in turn has an impact on system performance. This makes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) an important concern. In this paper, a new and simple spread spectrum technique is proposed by modulating chaotic pulse position modulation (CPPM) and pulse width modulation (PWM). The resulting CPWM is implemented to reduce the conducted EMI in SMPS. The proposed method is found to be effective in reducing conduction EMI. The effectiveness and simplicity of the proposed method on spreading those dominating frequencies is compared to the EMI mitigation technique using an external chaotic generator. Finally, the levels of conductive EMI with standard PWM, CPWM with an external chaos generator and the proposed method are experimentally verified to comply with the CISPR 22A regulations. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A new DC/DC converter with zero voltage switching is proposed for applications with high input voltage and high load current. The proposed converter has two circuit modules that share load current and power rating. Interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) is adopted to generate switch control signals. Thus, ripple currents are reduced at the input and output sides. For high-voltage applications, each circuit module includes two half-bridge legs that are connected in series to reduce switch voltage rating to $V_{in}/2$. These legs are controlled with the use of asymmetric PWM. To reduce the current rating of rectifier diodes and share load current for high-load-current applications, two center-tapped rectifiers are adopted in each circuit module. The primary windings of two transformers are connected in series at the high voltage side to balance output inductor currents. Two series capacitors are adopted at the AC terminals of the two half-bridge legs to balance the two input capacitor voltages. The resonant behavior of the inductance and capacitance at the transition interval enable MOSFETs to be switched on under zero voltage switching. The circuit configuration, system characteristics, and design are discussed in detail. Experiments based on a laboratory prototype are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
