  • When designing a SMPS(Switched Mode Power Supply) circuit, a part that is easily overlooked without special consideration is a snubber circuit. However, the performance degradation of the SMPS due to the snubber circuit and the effect on the entire SET cannot be ignored. In addition, a snubber circuit is added to both ends of the switch to protect the device from peak voltage and current during switching and to reduce loss during on/off switching. Therefore, in this paper, for a sufficient understanding of snubber circuits, theoretical analysis and experimental formulas that can be applied by designers during actual circuit design are arranged to promote optimization of snubber circuits.

  • Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) have become a major source of conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) which is the combination between differential mode (DM) noise and common mode (CM) noise. This paper presents the conducted EMI reduction approach in flyback switched mode power supply by rerouting for circuit balance to reduce common mode noise. And differential mode noise can be reduce by adding $c_x$ capacitor across the input power line, and passive element to the gate drive of switching device MOSFET to slow down the switching times. This combination of our approach is the effective way to reduce the conducted EMI and it is also a cost effective for product design

  • Considering the randomness and uncertainty of wind power, a reliability model of WTGs is established based on the combination of the Weibull distribution and the Markov chain. To analyze the failure mode quickly, we use the switch-section partitioning method. After defining the first-level load zone node, we can obtain the supply power sets of the first-level load zone nodes with each WTG. Based on the supply sets, we propose the dynamic division strategy of island operation. By adopting the fault analysis method with the attributes defined in the switch-section, we evaluate the reliability of the distribution network with WTGs using a sequential Monte Carlo simulation method. Finally, using the IEEE RBTS Bus6 test system, we demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed model and method by comparing different schemes to access the WTGs.

  • In this paper, Green Mode Power IC is designed to reduce the standby power. The proposed and designed IC works for the Switch Mode Power Supply(SMPS) and has the function of PWM. To reduce the unnecessary electric power, burst mode and skip mode section are introduced and controlled by external power MOSFET to diminish the standby power. The proposed IC is designed and simulated by KEC 30V-High Voltage 0.5um CMOS Process. The structure of proposed IC is composed of voltage regulator circuit, voltage reference circuit, UVLO(Under Voltage Lock out) circuit, Ibias circuit, green circuit, PWM circuit, OSC circuit, protection circuit, control circuit, and level & driver circuit. Measuring the current consumption of each block from the simulation results, 1.2942 mA of the summing consumption current from each block is calculated and ot proved that it is within the our design target of 1.3 mA. The current consumption of the proposed IC in this paper is less than a half of conventional ICs, and power consumption is reduced to the extent of 1W in standby mode. From the above results, we know that efficiency of proposed IC is superior to the previous IC.

  • A gate driver suitable for forced switch-mode power converters such as UPS and motor drive system is presented. The proposed gate driver uses regenerated snubber power and requires no separate power supply. This does not impose any additional complexity on the main switch. Experimental results show that the proposed circuit is valid.

  • This paper presents the design of zero current switching ZCS pulse frequency modulation type DC-DC converter for magnetron power supply. A magnetron serving as the microwave source in a microwave oven is driven by a switch mode power supply (SMPS). SMPSs have the advantages of improved efficiency, reduced size and weight, regulation and the ability to operate directly from the converter DC bus. The demands of the load system and the design of the power supply required to produce constant power at 4[kV]. A magnetron power supply requires the ability to limit the load current under short circuit conditions. The current source series resonant converter is a circuit configuration which can achieve this. The main features of the proposed converter are an inherent protection against a short circuit at the output, a high voltage gain and zero current switching over a large range of output power. These characteristics make it a viable choice for the implementation of a high voltage magnetron power supply.

  • This paper presents the single-stage high power factor AC to DC converter operated in active-clamp mode. The proposed converter is added active-clamping circuit to boost-flyback single-stage power factor corrected power supply. The active-clamping circuit limits voltage spikes, recycles the energy trapped in the leakage inductance, and provides a mechanism for achieving soft switching of the electronic switches to reduce the switching loss. The auxiliary switch of active-clamping circuit uses the same control and driver circuit as the main switch to reduce the additional cost and size. To verify the performance of the proposed converter, a 100W converter has been designed. The proposed converter gives good power factor correction, low line current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulation, as used unity power factor.

  • This paper presents the Development of Switching Power Supply for testing communication equipment. The communication equipment need many kinds of voltage(-48V,27V,12V,5V,3.3V), and in case of low voltage needs large current($10{\sim}20A$). The previous Linear Power Supply was very heavy, has low efficiency and poor power-factor for testing communication equipment. This development has good efficiency and high power-factor using switch mode power supply technique. This Development of Switching Power Supply is composed of eight converters. The principles of operation, feature, and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the experiment with 600W prototype.

  • This paper proposes a multiple switch mode power supply (SMPS) system based on the wireless network which controls variable load. The system enables power supply of up to 600W using 200W SMPS as a unit module and provides a controlling function of output power based on variable load and a monitoring function based on wireless network. The controlling function for output power measures the variation of output power and facilitates efficient power supply by controlling output power based on the measured variation value. The monitoring function guarantees a stable power supply by observing the multiple SMPS system in real time via wireless network. The performance of the proposed system was examined by various experiments. In addition, it was verified through standardized test of Korea Testing Certification. The results were given and discussed.

  • The UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system operates in the battery charging mode when the grid is normal, and in the UPS mode, which is the battery discharge mode when a grid error occurs. Since the UPS must supply the same voltage as the grid to the load within 4 [ms] in case of a grid error, the switching time and power recovery time should be short when controlling the output voltage and current of the UPS, and the power failure detection time is also important. The power outage detection algorithm using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) proposed in this paper compares the grid voltage waveform with the voltage waveform including the 9th harmonic generated through DFT using Schmitt trigger to detect power outage faster than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm. There are advantages. Therefore, it is possible to supply instant and stable power when switching modes in the UPS system. The multi-power-applied UPS system proposed in this paper uses DFT, which is faster than the conventional blackout monitoring algorithm in detecting power failure, to provide stable power to the load in a shorter time than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm when a system error occurs. The detection method was applied. The changeover time of mode switching was set to less than 4 [ms], which is 1/4 of the system cycle, in accordance with KSC 4310 regulation, which was established by the Industrial Standards Council on the regulation of uninterruptible power supply. A 10 [kW] UPS system in which commercial voltage, vehicle generator, and auxiliary diesel generator can be connected to each of the proposed transfer devices was constructed and the feasibility was verified by conducting an experiment.
