In this study, a PID control method for sweeping automatic linearization of a wavelength swept laser is proposed. First, the closedloop transfer function embodying the PID control is derived. Through the simulation of the function, Kp = 0.022, Ki = 0.008, Kd = 0.002 were obtained as the best PID coefficients for fast linear sweeping. The performance test using the PID coefficients showed that linear sweeping was held up well with a 98.7% decrement in nonlinearity after the 10th feedback, and 45 nm sweeping range, 1 kHz sweeping frequency, and 8.8 mW average optical power were obtained. The equipment consists of a fiber Bragg grating array, an optical-electronic conversion circuit, and a LabVIEW FPGA program. Every 5s, automatic feedback and PID control generate a new compensated waveform and produce a better linear sweeping than before. Compared with nonlinear sweeping, linear sweeping can reduce the cumbersome and time-consuming recalibration processes and produce more accurate measurement results.
In this study, a novel method for sweeping automatic linearization of wavelength swept laser is proposed. Through the test performed on the implemented laser, the linear sweeping is held up well with a 97% decrease in nonlinearity, and 60 nm sweeping range, 1 kHz sweeping frequency, and 8.8 mW average optical power were obtained. The proposed method uses fiber Bragg grating array, optical-electronic conversion circuit, FPGA embedded module, and a LabVIEW program to generate new compensated wave patterns which were applied to the fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter. Linear sweeping can reduce the cumbersome and time-consuming recalibration process required for nonlinear sweeping. Additionally, the proposed method provides more accurate measurement results for the structure safety monitoring system.
In this study, linearized sweeping of a wavelength sweeping laser was realized. This technique was used to measure the strain on a fiber Bragg grating(FBG) sensor. For linear sweeping, PID control over the wavelength difference between linear and nonlinear sweeping was employed. The performance test showed that linear sweeping with a 46 nm range and a 1 kHz frequency held up well with a 99.5 % decrement in nonlinearity after the 120th feedback. When attached to a strain gage, the FBG sensor registered strain that matched the data sheet within a difference of 4.5[με]. Altogether, linear sweeping can play a leading role in monitoring a safety of large SOC structures as well as in other wavelength sweeping laser related fields.

This study verify the conveying characteristic and adaptability of Straight Type Seeping Auger(STSA) which is built in Combined Grain Drying and Storage System(CGDSS). It is very important to design sweeping auger which makes Combined Grain Drying and Storage System having First-In-First-Out. In order to suggest desirable idea for sweeping auger of Combined Grain Drying and Storage System, an experiment that behavior of grain on the boundary surface which is made by rotation of STSA is executed and causalities to be given problem of STSA are pointed out.
Magnetic viscosities of a commercialized metal evaporated tape were measured as a function of sweeping rate in VSM at room temperature. Within several seconds in the viscosity measurement, curves are downward concave and more concave with increasing sweeping rate when magnetization were plotted as a logarithmic function of time. However, magnetization varied as a logarithmic function of time after several seconds. Magetic viscosity coefficient gradually increased with increasing sweeping rate and then kept a constant value at a rate faster than 61.5 Oe/s. It was supposed that magnetic viscosity occurs during field sweeping, which was in good agreement with Sharrock's model qualitatively. Activation volume decreased with increasing sweeping rate, which was due to the fact that magnetic viscosity coefficients increased with sweeping rate while irreversible susceptibilities were not affected by sweeping rate.
In this study, an Excel-based model (ROADMOD) was developed to estimate pollutant loading from the road and evaluate BMPs. ROADMOD employs the Chezy-Manning equation and empirical expression for estimating surface runoff, and power function for pollutant buildup, and exponential function for pollutant washoff in SWMM. The results of model calibration for buildup and washoff using observed data revealed a good match between the simulation results and the observed data. The long-term surface runoff and sediment simulated by ROADMOD demonstrated a good match with those by SWMM with 2 ~ 14% of relative error. The shorter sweeping interval (within 8 days) remarkably decreased sediment loads from the road. It was found that the effect of reducing sediment loads from the road was greatly affected not only by the sweeping interval but also by sweeping on the day before a rainfall event. The 48% of removal efficiency of sediment loads from the road was achieved with 26 times of road sweeping per year when sweeping was performed on the day before the rainfall event. A 4-day sweeping interval showed similar removal efficiency (48%) with 96 times of sweeping per year. It is considered that the road sweeping on the day before a rainfall event could maximize the effect of reducing the non-point source pollution from the road with minimization of the number of road sweeping. So, the road sweeping on the day before a rainfall event can be considered as one of the useful and best management practices (BMPs) on road.
PURPOSES : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the change in lane reflection performance through lane washing and sweeping on highway lanes. METHODS : This paper compared and analyzed the changes in lane reflection performance before and after lane washing and sweeping. The research method was as follows. First, we selected four research sites on the Gyeong-bu Highway. Second, the parameters affecting lane reflection performance are classified into luminance, brightness, and number of glass beads. Third, the change in reflection performance was measured after washing /sweeping at the same place after studying 60m of the unwashed/unswept area. Fourth, the measurement results were compared and analyzed before and after lane washing/sweeping. RESULTS : The results of this study are as follows. First, lane washing improved the luminance and brightness by 4.2~21.4% and 1.4~5.1%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per wash by 0.2~1.2%. Second, lane sweeping improved the luminance and brightness by 2.3~8.5% and 0.8~2.3%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per sweep by 0.8~4.9%. CONCLUSIONS : By comparing the results of lane washing and sweeping, it was found that compared to lane sweeping, lane washing improved the luminance and fewer glass beads were dropped.

This paper is concerned with the sweeping damping controller for beam. The active damping characteristics can be enhanced by moving the damper along the longitudinal axis. In this paper, the equation of motion for a beam including a sweeping damping controller is derived and its stability is proved by using Lyapunov stability theorem. It is found from the theoretical study that the sweeping damping controller can enhance the active damping characteristics, so that a single damper can suppress all the vibration modes of the beam. To demonstrate the concept of the sweeping damping control, the eddy current damper was applied to a cantilever, where the eddy current damping can move along the axis. The experimental result shows that the sweeping eddy current damper Is an effective device for vibration suppression.
PIV experiments were carried out to visualize the velocity distribution of the sweeping jet impinging onto a flat plate and kinematic behavior of the jet from the fluidic oscillator. Two parameters such as four different Re cases and four different jet-to-wall distances were examined. Time-resolved two dimensional PIV measurements were performed for both streamwise and normal planes respect to the jet axis. Ensemble averaged and phase averaged velocity fields were obtained for the tested range of parameters. The sweeping frequency of the jet increases linearly with increase of Re. The kinetic energy of the sweeping jet decreases as the distance from the jet to the impinging plate increases. In addition, turbulence flow is generated due to the swinging motion of sweeping jet, and various vortices such as primary and secondary vortex are observed near the impinging wall.

This study develops an algorithm that automatically performs reverse engineering on three-dimensional (3D) sweeping shapes using a user's pre-defined feature templates and 3D point cloud data (PCD) of sweeping shapes. Existing methods extract 3D sweeping shapes by extracting points on a PCD cross section together with the center point in order to perform curve fitting and connect the center points. However, a drawback of existing methods is the difficulty of creating a 3D sweeping shape in which the user's preferred feature center points and parameters are applied. This study extracts shape features from cross-sectional points extracted automatically from the PCD and compared with pre-defined feature templates for similarities, thereby acquiring the most similar template cross-section. Fitting the most similar template cross-section to sweeping shape modeling makes the reverse engineering process automatic.
