Outliers in survey are a perennial problem for applied survey statisticians to estimate the total or mean of population. The influence of outliers is more increasing as they have large weights in survey sampling. Many techniques have been studied to lower the impact of outliers on sample survey estimates. Outliers can be downweighted by winsorization or reducing the weight of outliers. The weight reduction is more reasonable than replacing one outlier by one value of non-outliers, because it has at least one unit. In this paper, we suggest the square root transformation of weight as the weight reduction method. We show this method is efficient with real data, and it's also easy to apply in practical affairs.
Cyberspace permits us to more beyond traditional face-to-face, mail and telephone surveys, yet still to examine basic issues regarding the quality of data collection: sampling, questionnaire design, survey distribution, means of response, and database creation. This article address each of these issues by contrasting and comparing traditional survey methods(Paper-and-Pencil) with Internet or Personal Computer networks-mediated (Screen-and-Keyboard) survey methods also introduces researchers to this revolutionary and innovative tool and outlines a variety of practical methods for using the Internet or Personal Computer Networks. The revolution in telecommunications technology has fostered the rapid growth of the Internet all over the world. The Internet is a massive global network and comprising many national and international networks of interconnected computers. The Internet or Personal Computer Networks could be the comprehensive interactive tool that will facilitate the development of the skills. The Internet or Personal Computer Networks provides a virtual frontier to expand our access to information and to increase our knowledge and understanding of public opinion, political behavior, social trends and lifestyles through survey research. Comparable to other technological advancements, the Internet or Personal Computer Networks presents opportunities that will impact significantly on the process and quality of survey research now and in the twenty-first century. There are trade-offs between traditional and the Internet or Personal Computer Networks survey. The Internet or Personal Computer Networks is an important channel for obtaining information for target participants. The cost savings in time, efforts, and material were substantial. The use of the Internet or Personal Computer Networks survey tool will increase the quality of research environment. There are several limitations to the Internet or Personal Computer Network survey approach. It requires the researcher to be familiar with Internet navigation and E-mail, it is essential for this process. The use of Listserv and Newsgroup result in a biased sample of the population of corporate trainers. However, it is this group that participates in technology and is in the fore front of shaping the new organizations of interest, and therefore it consists of appropriate participants. If this survey method becomes popular and is too frequently used, potential respondents may become as annoyed with E-mail as the sometimes are with mail survey and junk mail. Being a member of the Listserv of Newsgroup may moderate that reaction. There is a need to determine efficient, effective ways for the researcher to strip identifiers from E-mail, so that respondents remain anonymous, while simultaneously blocking a respondent from responding to a particular survey instrument more than once. The optimum process would be on that is initiated by the researcher : simple, fast and inexpensive to administer and has credibility with respondents. This would protect the legitimacy of the sample and anonymity. Creating attractive Internet or Personal Computer Networks survey formats that build on the strengths of standardized structures but also capitalize on the dynamic and interactive capability of the medium. Without such innovations in survey design, it is difficult to imagine why potential survey respondents would use their time to answer questions. More must be done to create diverse and exciting ways of building an credibility between respondents and researchers on the Internet or Personal Computer Networks. We believe that the future of much exciting research is based in the Electronic survey research. The ability to communicate across distance, time, and national boundaries offers great possibilities for studying the ways in which technology and technological discourse are shaped. used, and disseminated ; the many recent doctoral dissertations that treat some aspect of electronic survey research testify to the increase focus on the Internet or Personal Computer Networks. Thus, scholars should begin a serious conversation about the methodological issues of conducting research In cyberspace. Of all the disciplines, Internet or Personal Computer Networks, emphasis on the relationship between technology and human communication, should take the lead in considering research in the cyberspace.
We investigate and estimate the causal effect of the survey methods in telephone surveys for the 19th presidential election. For this causal study, we draw a causal graph that represents the causal relationship between variables. Then we decide which variables should be included in the model and which variables should not be. We explain why the research agency is a should-be variable and the response rate is a shouldnot-be variable. The effect of ARS can not be estimated due to data limitations. We have found that there is no significant difference in the effect of the proportion of cell phone survey if it is less than about 90 percent. But the support rate for Moon Jae-in gets higher if the survey is performed only by cell phones.
The purpose of this study was to develope a high school level physics curriculum for the gifted in science. The research method for this study was Delphi Survey, which is appropriate for social agreement of experts in a certain area. For the Delphi survey, 11 experts of gifted education in physics field, who consist of 4 physics professors, 3 physics education professors, and 2 science high school teachers, and 2 experts in other institutes, were sampled intendedly. In first survey, free description questions about objectives, contents, teaching methods, and achievement test methods were asked, and their answers were analyzed by frequency. And then, frequent answers were adopted and elaborated. In second survey, they were asked to write numbers according to priority(degree of agreement) for the adopted and elaborated answers in each area. Finally, by analyzing the results of second survey, the physics curriculum for the gifted was developed.

The method regarding obtaining various kinds of attribute data of spatial information, including that of digital map, is normally restricted to Geographic survey that deals with in-field surveys. Geographic surveying for drawing digital map, however, require much effort due to the fact that a surveyor has to characterize geographic features individually in the field. Not only does the Geographic survey cover large area, but also its need for manual drawing and surveying using Draft map makes it more expensive and time-consuming. Though some recent Geographic surveys take advantage of MMS(Mobile Mapping System) to collect computerized information, there are inevitable limits in creating digital map with such data. This research will analyze the problems in current Geographic surveys and suggest adequate methods and standards for Geographic surveys by researching the methods of domestic/international service organizations that deal with establishing spatial information. This study therefore will aim to enhance the efficiency of creating digital map and Geographic survey, which would ultimately maximize the applicability of pan-national digital map by improving reliability of digital map and upgrading the utilizability of Geographic survey data.

The lobby is the space that contributes the most to conveying the first impression of an enterprise or company that is occupying a building, and enhances the quality of the urban or business environment around an office building. Transparency is the biggest change in architecture since the modern age began, and it is the most important element of the lobby expression methods. Therefore this study was an attempt to understand the expression method of transparency which is expressed in the lobby space of office buildings, and used documentary survey and field survey to analyze it. In the examination of the theoretical background of transparency to make a specific study purpose, and based on an on-the-spot probe document, an attempt was made to grasp the expression method of Visual Transparency and Phenomenal Transparency. The data collected during this investigation was studied and a correlation coefficient. A summary of the findings of this study is as follows: 1) Transparent materials does not appear often in floors. But Phenomenal Transparency material is used in the floor. 2) During the survey it was discovered that Visual Transparency was often used in the walls of each investigated building. Phenomenal Transparency materials are found less in walls than in the floors of lobbies. 3) The expression methods that appeared the most in ceilings among the Visual Transparent expression methods. In the case of Phenomenal Transparency, the highest distribution is seen in ceilings. 4) The result of the analyzation of the correlation coefficient of Visual Transparency and Phenomenal Transparency is as follows: Expression method: There is more than one expression method of transparency, 'Open Sight', 'Light Material' and 'Surface Material' methods were introduced in case of the introduction of 'Transparent Material' among Visual Transparency in office building lobby space planning. If the 'Superimposed Space' method is introduced, then the 'Ambiguous Border' or 'Dual Sight' methods are introduced.
In case of executing surveys in marine ecosystems, the most important things are scientific selection measures of survey stations that can represent various ecosystems characteristics in subjected areas. The situations show a lot of differences that understand characteristics of marine ecosystems in targeted areas according to selection methods and positions in survey stations. Investigation ranges and station numbers in marine ecosystems are classified according to project characteristics and scales. But, currently a clear divisions or objective standards are not. Therefore, this study tried to provide selection measures of survey station in scientific and objective marine ecosystems through precise analysis among environmental impact statements of coastal development projects until now. In this study, impact scopes of marine ecosystems correspond to physical impact predictions by undertaking projects. Impact ranges were divided into three(physical impact ranges) coastal waters. In case of proposing numbers of survey stations according to this survey ranges, numbers of investigation stations due to minimum survey scopes in targeted projects applied 20~30% of all numbers in survey stations. Number of survey stations due to average investigation scopes within physical impact ranges applied 60~70% of all numbers in investigation stations. Numbers of survey stations due to maximum survey ranges within physical impact scopes applied 10~20% of all numbers in survey stations. So, improvement measures were deducted. Finally, according to prediction ranges in impact of various coastal development projects, several kinds of conclusions are suggested. And, it is thought to be able to use as fundamental database to select investigation stations in marine organisms through this study.

We consider statistical methods for nonresponse problem in social and economic sample surveys. To create a complete data set, which does not include item nonresponse data, imputation methods are generally used. In this paper, we introduce some imputation methods and compare them with one another. Also, we consider some problems, which occur when an imputed data set is treated as a response data set. Due to the imputed values, the true variance of the estimator after imputation is increased by the imputation variance. However, since usual naive variance estimator constructed from the imputed data set does not estimate the imputation variance, the true variance of the estimator after imputation tends to be underestimated. Theoretical reason is investigated and serious results are explained through a simulation study. Finally, some adjusted variance estimation methods to compensate for underestimation are presented and discussed.

While the significance and need of landscape assessment for rural area has been recognised, an appropriate method has not been established due to the lack of statutory ground and policy status in Korea. For that reason, current studies have been limited to dominantly amenity field survey in specific rural areas and stayed in academic. In particular, the majority of research on rural landscape amenity or character assessment methodologies so far has been attempted with quantitative processes. Such quantitative methods produced sometimes, heavily overlapped, conflicted, and not much meaningful characterisation and classification. Moreover, such results could not only have been reflected to policy implementation but provide vision for rural areas. Therefore, this study offers new facets for landscape character assessment methods through the lens of practitioners' qualitative survey methods and moreover, seek a policy implementation of newly developed methodologies. In order to carry out such analysis, the study employed a case study of England's Landscape Character Assessment and survey location was Gateshead Council, Northeast of England. The study suggests meaningful qualitative landscape character assessment method and review of its policy implementation.
