Perception of University Instructors for Designing Online Interactions: Findings from Importance-Performance Analysis

  • The aim of the current study was to suggest priorities needed to be considered by university instructors when designing online learning. Based on three types of interactions (learner-content, learner-instructor, and learner-learner interactions) for effective online learning (Moore, 1989), draft questionnaires representing each type of interaction were written. After examining content validity by two Ph.D. experts, the survey was constructed with an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) form. Data of 133 university instructors were collected online. Results showed that support for designing learner-learner interaction was the priority for improving online learning. In terms of learner-instructor interaction, instructors needed to provide social-emotional support to learners so that learners could have a sense of belonging. For learner-instructor interaction, supporting instructors to monitor the level of understanding was the most highly demanding strategy for online learning. Limitations and suggestions for further studies were discussed.

  • This study intended to test the structure of the latent factor of an effectiveness scale and the stability of invariance across groups of students' classifications (gender and levels of education). In the large, non-clinical sample (850), students completed the effectiveness scale. The (CFA) confirmatory factor analysis was used to investigate the factor-structure of the measure, and multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) model was used to test the stability of invariance across groups of students' classifications. The findings of the CFA indicated support for the original four-factor model. Additional analyses of the MGCFA method support the measurement (configural, metric and strong) invariant and practical invariant components of this model. There was an invariant across gender. There was partially invariant across groups of levels of education. The scale exists in groups of levels of education assess the same concepts of, excluding Items 15 and 10. Given that this study is the first investigation for the structure of the effectiveness scale.

  • Haul routes for earthmoving operation need to be carefully selected because the decision on the haul routes could make a significant difference in the project's cost and time. This paper proposes a decision support system for improving productivity of earthmoving operation that helps construction managers choose the best haul routes of trucks based on time slots. Also, a methodology for optimal selection of haul routes considering traffic conditions and topographic conditions of the routes is explained. Raster data model is used to find an available shortest path based on cost weighted distance. A system was developed on a geographic information system environment for efficient database management and easy manipulation of graphical data. A real-world case study was conducted to verify the applicability of the proposed system.

  • In this paper hi-criterion quadratic fractional generalized solid transportation problem is studied. An algorithm is developed to obtain the time-cost trade-off pairs and hence identifies the optimum trade-off pairs giving the equal priority to both time and cost. A numerical example is illustrated to support the algorithm.

  • This paper presents the analysis results predicted by the upper bound approach in the limit analysis of concrete incorporating the original plastic and crack sliding solutions for short high-strength concrete beams that varied the compressive strength of concrete, and the shear span-to-depth and vertical shear reinforcement ratios. The significance of the distance away from the support to define the location where the yield line starts and the properties of cracked concrete, particularly related to high-strength concrete, is identified.

The DMSS consists of three core subsystem: distance learning system, conventional DSS and ERP system.

  • The conical bearing can be used to support the radial and thrust load simultaneously. Two circumferential grooves with discrete hole restrictions are made on the bearing surface in order to increase stiffness. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of this type of bearings are calculated such as stiffness and champing coefficients. As a results of theoretical analysis, it is verified that there exist the groove depth and distance between two grooves which produce the maximum stiffness at the given bearing dimensions.

  • For reducing network traffic between long distance network or WAN, we supplement the Peer-to-Peer technology to HTTP. The large file transmition have the biggest traffic on HTTP. If downloading a large size file from a near computer not from the original location, we will get it speedier. For this, we propose a extened HTTP, named HTTP3. In this paper, we describe the HTTP3, the HTTP3 agent to support this protocol., and its security.

  • In this paper, we derive some fixed point theorems in fuzzy metric spaces for self mappings satisfying different contractive type conditions. Some of these theorems generalize some results of Wairojjana et al. (Fixed Point Theory and Applications (2015) 2015:69). Several examples in support of the theorems are also presented here.
