Processing of thin films by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is accompanied by chemical reactions, in which the rigorous kinetic analysis is difficult to achieve. In these conditions, thermodynamic calculation leads to better understanding of the CVD process and helps to optimise the experimental parameters to obtain a desired product. A CVD phase diagram has been used as guide lines for the process. By determining the effect of each process variable on the driving force for deposition, the thermodynamic limit for the substrate temperature that diamond can deposit is calculated in the C-H system by assuming that the limit is defined by the CVD diamond phase diagram. The addition of iso-supersaturation ratio lines to the CVD phase diagram in the Si-Cl-H system provides additional information about the effects of CVD process variables.
Heavy metal equilibria in the Dongnam stream which receives the wastewater from mining activities are investigated to provide some basic data for the management of small stream with acid mine drainage. Saturation, undersaturation, and supersaturation of some heavy metal ions with respect to some mineral phases are evaluated by saturation index (logIAP/Ksp). The $Al^{3+}$ activities showed equilibrium with $AIOHSO_4$ solid phase below a pH of 6.0. The $Fe^{3+}$ activities appeared to be controlled by Fe $(OH)_{3(amorphous)}$ solid phase below a pH of 4.0. $Zn^{2+}$ activities appeared to be regulated by $ZnCO_3$ solid phase above a pH of 6.8. Some heavy metal activities appeared to be depended upon the pH.

The irreversibility of condensation process in the supersonic flow of steam turbine cascade causes the entropy to increase and the total pressure loss to be generated. In the present study, in order to investigate the moist air flow in two dimensional steam turbine cascade made as the configuration of the last stage tip section of the actual steam turbine moving blade, the static and total pressures along suction side of the blade are measured by pressure taps and Pitot tube. The flow field is visualized by a Schlieren system. The effects of stagnation temperature and the degree of supersaturation on energy loss and entropy change in the flow are clearly identified.

Recently, the need for improving image quality of the image is increasing in various fields smartphones, cameras, and portable devices. How a significant impact on improving image quality of the image is a contrast enhancement, as a representative method to improve the contrast, the process of histogram equalization, various studies have been made. However, the method of histogram equalization general, by readjusting the only brightness, when the image histogram is biased to one side, due to changes in the excess brightness, distortions such as blocking phenomenon occurs. In this paper, we provide a contrast enhancement techniques through the compression and re-distribution of a well-balanced average brightness of the histogram distribution. By be differential compression histogram based on the histogram frequency in order to suppress the supersaturation phenomenon due to the increase in contrast ratio excessive repositioning well-balanced histogram lopsided, the proposed method, the balance of the brightness of the image I want to to take. The experimental results, the image brightness is balanced manner compared to conventional methods, the proposed method showed a good effect to improve the contrast without supersaturation phenomenon as compared with the conventional methods.

$CO_2$ absorption processes have a good potential for large scale capture of $CO_2$ but a large amount of absorbing solution has to be regenerated, undesirably increasing the consumption of energy such as sensible heat and latent heat of vaporization. In this study, a cooling crystallization process which would separate the $CO_2$-rich potassium bicarbonate crystals from $CO_2$-lean water was developed to reduce the energy penalty. Sterically hindered alkanolamine additives were used to enhance the $CO_2$ removal efficiency and their antisolvent effect on the crystallization was found in a continuous cooling crystallizer. The production yields of crystals were increased in the sequence of 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) < 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (AMPD) < 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl-1,3-propanediol (AHPD), which are related to the number of hydroxyl groups in the additive molecules. Using $^{13}carbon$ nuclear magnetic resonance, the additives favored the formation of bicarbonate ions by steric hindrance effect and increased the supersaturation of $KHCO_3$. It is shown that the additives increase the mean size of crystals and crystal growth rate by increasing supersaturation. The additives are promising for enhancing the $CO_2$ removal efficiency and reducing the regeneration energy cost of $CO_2$ absorbing solution by promoting $KHCO_3$ crystallization.

The initial stages of electrochemical oxidative CuI film formation on Cu(111), as studied by means of Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), in-situ Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and ex-situ Synchrotron X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (SXPS), indicate a significant acceleration of copper oxidation in the presence of iodide anions in the electrolyte. A surface confined supersaturation with mobile CuI monomers first leads to the formation of a 2D-CuI film via nucleation and growth of a Cu/I-bilayer on-top of a pre-adsorbed iodide monolayer. Structurally, this 2D-CuI film is closely related to the (111) plane of crystalline CuI (zinc blende type). Interestingly, this film causes no significant passivation of the copper surface. In an advanced stage of copper dissolution a transition from the 2D- to a 3D-CuI growth mode can be observed.

The degree of saturation of calcium carbonate in the East Sea was calculated from the data obtained from'99 expedition using R/V Roger Revelle. The calcium concentrations in seawaters were estimated from salinity data, and the carbonate ion concentrations were calculated from total alkalinity and pH data. The results suggest that the crossover from the supersaturation to undersaturation for calcium carbonate occur at the depth of approximately 200-400 m for calcite, and 100-300 m for aragonite. Compared to the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, these levels in the East Sea are shallow due to most likely lower temperature of sea water in this region.

Uniform diamond films in a few $\textrm{mm}^2$ size and locally isolated diamond single crystals in size of 60 $\mu\textrm{m}$ were synthesized on Si-wafer and Al2O3 substrate by the method of acetylene flame. The effects of substrate temperature and flow ratio of oxygen to acetylene on the morphology of deposited diamond were investigated. According to the observations of growth behavior of diamond on Si substrate with respect to substrate surface pretreatment and flow ratio, it was shown that well faceted diamonds could grow uniformly when flow ratio was above 0.9 and substrates were densely scratched. With increasing substrates temperature, the crystal morphology changes from octahedron bounded by only {111} plane below 850$^{\circ}C$ to cubo-octahedron with almost equal development of {111} and {100} plane in the temperature range of 850∼950$^{\circ}C$. Between 950∼1050$^{\circ}C$, the {111} faces become rough and concave. Above 1050$^{\circ}C$, new crystallites begin to grow on concave {111} surface and overall morphology looks like cubo-octahedron with degenerated {111} faces. These changes of morphology can be understood in terms of the different growth mode of each crystallographic plane with respect to the substrate temperature and supersaturation. And the observed phenomena on {111} planes can be related to the face instability and twin generation.
ZnO hexagonal rods grown in aqueous solution can be changed into a tubular shape by two-step aging in the course of the growing process. In the first step, hexagonal ZnO rods is grown by aging at $90^{\circ}C$ under a highly supersaturated aqueous solution giving rise to a fast precipitation rate. Meanwhile, during the second step aging at $60^{\circ}C$ in the same aqueous solution, the hexagonal polar face (001) having higher surface energy than (010) side planes dissolves to minimize surface energy. Hence the flat (001) face changes to a craterlike face and the hexagonal rod length of ZnO decreases at an initial-stage of this step aging. The formation of the (101) wedge-type faces is ascribed to the resultant of competitive reactions between the dissolution of polar face minimizing the surface energy which is a dominant reaction at the initial stage and the precipitation reaction dissipating supersaturation. At a later stage of the second-step the reaction rates of these two processes in the aqueous solution become similar and the overall reaction is terminated.
