  • Psychoacoustic characteristics of automobile horns play significant role in resulting subjective evaluation and psychphysiological reactions. However, comparison and differentiation of physiological responses to commercially available horns is a complicated task due to the small contrast in technical features of horns and the influence of such processes as habituation on physiological outcome with the increased number of auditory stimulation trials. In a study on 10 college students, there was performed comparative analysis of reactivity of physiological responses mediated by central and autonomic nervous systems in order to identify the role of habituation on decrement of psychophysiological responsivity and assess the ability to differentiate subjectively most and least preferred, as well as most and least appropriate horns according to physiological manifestations. The EEG and autonomic responses to 7 automobile horns were analyzed during 3 blocks of trials, with varying order of stimuli and changed acoustic parameters of horns in each block. Thus, responses were analyzed for totally 21 trials of auditory stimulation. It was shown that electrodermal and cardiovascular responses have different reactivity patterns to repeated stimulation: skin conductance measures habituated, cardiac reactivity showed no signs of habituation, and the vascular response demonstrated sensitization. The temporal EEG exhibited marked habituation of fast beta band power, while alpha-blocking effect did not habituate during the course of experiment. Differentiation of physiological responses of most and least preferred and appropriate horns was possible in our study, however, some cardiovascular reactivity measures differentiated during the entire course of the experiment, while EEG and electrodermal parameters showed significant differences only during first block of trials, and were later affected by the habituation.

  • The main purpose of this study was to observe the relationship of denture and halitosis and to investigate the influence with oral health indexes. Also we examined the contribution factors to subjective awareness of halitosis by denture condition. A total sample of 103 elderly people were answered questionnaire and all collected survey data were processed for data analyses. Based on general characteristics, the study of the halitosis showed higher score which is older age, oral health attitude, and living together. The result showed that the use of denture, dental intelligent quotient (dental IQ) and type of denture were significantly correlated with halitosis. These results indicated that halitosis was affected by denture and oral health index. According to these findings, it is necessary to develop and apply the oral health promotion program which is include the management of halitosis especially for elderly person.

  • This study is about the effect on the user's cognitive stress by font size when they read on PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). The evaluation was done through both subjective evaluation and physiological one, which is brain wave test, while the research and analysis were focused on the relationship between the user's cognitive stress and font, size. The two final results were found out as follows. 1) Font sizes, which were tested, were 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16points. Among theses, font size 14 was the least stressful for the users. while the most stressful size was found out 8 points. 2) The cerebral cortex reaction according to the font size activated occipital lobe, parietal lobe of occipital visual area. Here we could come to a very important conclusion that the smaller font size on mobile information appliances mate users the more stressed.

  • Generally, cosmetic creams have been used to moisturize and smooth human skin. Recently, people concerns about the creams released with natural flavors and its functionality. This study focused to assess the psychophysiological effects of creams with 5 natural flavors such as patchouli oil, frankincense, sandalwood oil, none and newly developed S6. Initially, we have performed subjective evaluation for 100 female subjects aged 20 to 30 from Daejeon, South Korea. The results showed the most preferred flavor was S6 condition. Second, physiological evaluations for 20 female subjects were measured with EEG, ECG and GSR. In EEG analysis, the alpha ratio was confirmed to appear higher in each condition. The statistical analysis shows that significantly largest effect at S6 condition($p$ <0.05). The result from ECG and GSR measurements also shows the same trend. Third, skin conditions were measured when using S6. As a result, the skin temperature, humidity and skin movement speed were increased with S6 condition. The moisturizing and elasticity effects were confirmed.

  • Color is a significant factor for evoking human emotion. Therefore, the effects of color have been analyzed to predict and evaluate human emotion. The purpose of this study was to measure the cardiovascular responses depending on color stimuli in order to observe differences in color-emotions. Images consisting of six colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow) were used as visual stimuli. 26 college or graduate students (13 males) watched the color stimuli on the monitor and scored their subjective emotion while electrocardiogram (ECG) was meausred. The effects of the color on emotion were tested using Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test. The coherence ratio showed significant differences between green and magenta (p = .004), green and red (p = .006), and green and yellow (p = .004). The significant differences of cardiovascular and emotions were relevant to emotional valence. This study shows significance as an empirical study by indicating that green induces pleasant and red induces unpleasant.

  • Due to the rapid growth of the online fashion market and the resulting expansion of online choices, there is a problem that the seller cannot directly respond to a large number of consumers individually, although consumers are increasingly demanding for more personalized recommendation services. Images are being tagged as a way to meet consumer's personalization needs, but when people tagging, tagging is very subjective for each person, and artificial intelligence tagging has very limited words and does not meet the needs of users. To solve this problem, we designed an algorithm that recognizes the shape, attribute, and emotional information of the product included in the image with AI, and codes this information to represent all the information that the image has with a combination of codes. Through this algorithm, it became possible by acquiring a variety of information possessed by the image in real time, such as the sensibility of the fashion image and the TPO information expressed by the fashion image, which was not possible until now. Based on this information, it is possible to go beyond the stage of analyzing the tastes of consumers and make hyper-personalized clothing recommendations that combine the tastes of consumers with information about trends and TPOs.

  • This study was carried out to investigate sound sensation of Korean traditional silk fabrics with similar sound pressure levels (SPL) and to identify secondary physical factors excluding SPL which determine sound sensation of the fabrics. Sounds of the silk fabrics tended to be perceived differently from one another as for some of sensation such as clearness ant roughness. They were felt more strongly in aspects of loudness, roughness, and highness than of softness, sharpness, clearness, and pleasantness. Subjective clearness, roughness, and highness were significantly correlated with some of sound parameters including roughness(z), ${\Delta}L,\;and\;{\Delta}f$. Especially, both of clearness and roughness which were varied among the fabrics were found as determined by ${\Delta}L$. This result means that ${\Delta}L$ as well as roughness(z) and ${\Delta}f$ could be utilized secondary to SPL in order to satisfy some of human sensibility for sound from traditional silk fabrics without variation of physical loudness.

  • According to introduction of Well-Being lifestyle and ageing society, vital sign monitoring system which can be continued measurement of vital sign has been increased their important in field of the healthcare. Under this trend, Respiration monitoring system has been studied and developed in a various way to apply continued monitoring and non-conscious monitoring system. But, Study of the respiration monitoring system based on consumer needs and usability test is insufficient. In this study, Textile capacitive pressure sensor(TCPS) of belt type was developed and tested it's utility and subjective sensibility. TCPS measures respiration signals and can be derived in real time monitoring. As a result, monitoring respiration using textile capacitive pressure sensor offers a promising possibility of convenient measurement of respiration rate (correlation (r=0.9553, p<0.0001). In the result of usability and wearability test, all of categorizes(perceived change, wearability, movement, facility of management, usefulness) were received favorable evaluation on usability test( mean value : 3.8), and suitable location of TCPS in the clothing is deriven on the abdomen part. According to synthetical results, Basic smart clothing design based on respiration monitoring system is proposed.
