  • We introduce an interactive image cartooning system based on personal subjectivity. To effectively tune various parameters needed to adjust image style, our system uses interactive genetic algorithm. By selecting several pre-stylized image samples using simple user interface, the user can easily achieve the desired result without having any signal-processing knowledge. Our system reduces the parameter tuning time drastically compared to the conventional system, which involves manual parameter setting.

  • This paper discusses the design of monetary policy in a New Keynesian small open economy framework by introducing nominal wage rigidities and incomplete exchange rate pass-through on import prices. Three main findings are summarized. First, with the existence of an incomplete exchange rate pass-through and nominal wage rigidities, the optimal policy is to seek to minimize the output gap, the variance of domestic price and wage inflation, as well as deviations from the law of one price. Second, the CPI inflation targeting Taylor rule is welfare enhancing when there is a technological shock to the economy. The exception occurs when there is a foreign income shock, which minimizes welfare losses under the domestic inflation targeting Taylor rule. Last, two stylized Taylor rules turn out to be a bad approximation, but the modified Taylor rules that respond to the unemployment gap rather than the output gap are a closer approximation to the optimal policy.

  • This study is searching the characteristics of transferred element in composition of architectural spaces ; it is ultimate goal that frame of reference is arranged system about path of horizontal direction is two-dimension and stairs of vertical in three-dimension as transferred element in Architectural plan. With the exception of stylized discussion or rhetorical analysis about these, it is analysed as element in physical order of a whole architecture in relation to another elements in composition of architecture spaces. And one who is perceptible and cognitive through spaces is the subject. Consequently , these elements are classified concept of location and circulation. And it can't think that the formal is divided the latter for accept behavior of pedestrican and thinking system to consider verticality and time property is absolutely conceptual elements in space of architectural plan.

  • This study reviews the institutional frameworks of Open Source software and develops the stylized facts of Open Source software innovation. Open Source software have to solve two difficult problems for encouraging innovation. First, the source code of Open Source software program should be open and freely distributed and it is very difficult for developers to appropriate the results of their investments. Second, as Open Source software development process is characterized by the participation of communities of developers, it is not easy to coordinate and manipulate the development process. These difficulties of developing Open Source Software have been solved by the particular incentive schemes and coordinating mechanisms. This study reviews the study on the motivation of Open Source software development and the mechanisms which coordinate innovation process of Open Source software with peer review and meritocracy, and how these characteristics promote innovation in Open Source software communities.

  • This study is focused on apparel textile design process applying pre-developed Korean traditional motifs. Since the fusion culture is in trend, Orientalism or Oriental look is the center of attraction in fashion. Under the circumstances, developing the traditional resources as sophisticated Korean-style is the goal of the BK21 team. This study makes a move to achieve the goal. As a method of accomplishing this study, 4 trendy motif samples such as stylized letter, butterfly, peony, and female face are selected after investigating fashion magazines and fashion related websites. As a result, pre-developted Korean traditional motifs are elected and revised using Adobe Illustrator 9.0. The newly revised motifs are applied to the textile pattern repeat form. The completed textile patterns are simulated on the simulated on the shawls to show their usages as one of souvenir items since the year of 2001 is the year of “Visit Korea”.

  • In this paper, we propose a modified GARCH(p, q)-X model which is obtained by adding the exogenous variables to the modified GARCH(p, q) process. Some limiting properties are shown under various stationary and nonstationary exogenous processes which are generated by another process independent of the noise process. The proposed model extends the GARCH(1, 1)-X model studied by Han (2015) to various GARCH(p, q)-type models such as GJR GARCH, asymptotic power GARCH and VGARCH combined with exogenous process. In comparison with GARCH(1, 1)-X, we expect that many stylized facts including long memory property of the financial time series can be explained effectively by modified GARCH(p, q) model combined with proper additional covariate.

  • This essay examines the costumes for gods and priests in ancient Mesopotamia as they are depicted in various documents and artifacts of the period, and it is part of an ongoing project that studies the process in which the religious costumes, the means of religious communication, of ancient Mesopotamia had evolved. The study shows that the religious costunmes in ancient Mesopotamia have following characteristics. 1. The costumes for gods are the same as those for men, including warp-around skirts, tierd skirts, shawls, and tunics. However, there are some differences : costumes for gods include such distinguishing features as aprons and long tassels. 2. Both wear stylized headpieces that indicate their divinity and have long hair and long beard. 3. As for shoes, the Sumerian and Babilonian gods go barefoot, but the militant Assyrian gods wear sandals. 4. Sumerian and Babilonian figures do not have much, but the Assyrian gods wear various ornaments including earrings and bracelets that emphasize their muscular physique. 5. Priests wear weird skirts or wrap-around skirts but no top. They have shaved hair to indicate their role as purifiers, but some of them have long beards.

  • Wholesale club is one of the fastest expanding retailer formats. Given its key features such as limited assortment and no promotion policy, the current paper provides a theory on why the wholesale clubs charge their members fixed annual fees. In a competitive setting with supermarkets, the proposed model demonstrates that the membership fee is the optimal reaction of wholesale clubs to supermarkets" sales promotion. More specifically, the positive amount of annual fee is only justified under the condition that there exists consumer heterogeneity in consumption rate and when the supermarket exercises price promotion on the product that the wholesale club carries. This paper describes the competition in a stylized fashion and derives the optimal membership fee under a scenario where retail promotion is present. This study is valuable in that it offers a different explanation on wholesale club membership fee than conventional wisdoms such as cost sharing and that it provides insights to the managers who consider no-fee format.

  • Stylized facts on asset return are fat-tail, asymmetry, volatility clustering and structure changes. This paper simultaneously captures these characteristics by introducing a multi-regime models: Finite mixture distribution and regime switching GARCH model. Analyzing the daily KOSPI return from $4^{th}$ January 2000 to $30^{th}$ June 2014, we find that a two-component mixture of t distribution is a good candidate to describe the shape of the KOSPI return from unconditional and conditional perspectives. Empirical results suggest that the equality assumption on the shape parameter of t distribution yields better discrimination of heterogeneity component in return data. We report the strong regime-dependent characteristics in volatility dynamics with high persistence and asymmetry by employing a regime switching GJR-GARCH model with t innovation model. Compared to two sub-samples, Pre-Crisis (January 2003 ~ December 2007) and Post-Crisis (January 2010 ~ June 2014), we find that the degree of persistence in the Pre-Crisis is higher than in the Post-Crisis along with a strong asymmetry in the low-volatility (high-volatility) regime during the Pre-Crisis (Post-Crisis).

  • This study explored furniture and furniture designers in Art Nouveau which was called as Jugendstill in Germany. Jugendstill was developed on the center of Munchen, Darmstadt, and Berlin from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. And it was developed differently from Art Nouveau in the rest of European countries as the Rococo style and the Baroque style of Germany were done so. The furniture designers of Art Nouveau pronounced their use of decorative motifs from nature with birds, flowers, insects, fish, even landscape represented, but the designers in Jugendstill made the elaborate curvilinear design simply stylized and abstract: the design of Art Nouveau was seen as the superfluity of the ornament but the design of Jugendstill was seen as the simplified lines and restrain of the ornament. Hence, Jugendstill was deeply related with the scientific and rational thought of Germany, and then, it was based on the Deutscher Werkbund found by Hermann Muthesius.
