  • Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system operates as a multi-functional building construction material. They not only produce electricity, but also are building integral components such as facade, roof, window and shading device. On the other hands lots of architectural considerations should be reflected such as Installation position, shading, temperature effect and so on. As PV modules function like building envelope in BIPV, combined thermal and PV performance should be simultaneously evaluated This study is on the combined thermal and PV performance evaluation of BIPV modules. The purpose of this study is to investigate a temperature effect of PV module depending on the ventilation type of PV module backside. Test cell experiment was performed to identify the thermal and power effect of PV modules. Measurement results on the correlation of temperature and power generation were obtained. Those results can be utilized for the development of optimal BIPV installation details in the very early design stage.

  • For the high efficiency of the photovoltaic module, a high-output solar cell, which is the basis of photovoltaic power generation, is required. As the light receiving area of the solar cell increases, the light receiving area of the photovoltaic module also increases. Accordingly, recent trend is to use large-area solar cells such as M6 and M8 instead of M2-based solar cells for manufacturing the photovoltaic module and a study on the mechanical stiffness of the module with increased size is required. In this study, a mechanical load test corresponding to IEC-61215 was performed among the reliability tests of large-area photovoltaic modules. In order to confirm the degree to which the mechanical load test affects the photovoltaic module, the output and EL images were checked by sequentially increasing the pressure by 600 Pa at a pressure of 2400 Pa. Also, factors such as output and efficiency of large-area photovoltaic modules were verified through mechanical load testing of actual large-area photovoltaic modules and the rate of change was very small at 1%.

  • To reduce vehicle fuel consumption due to not only driving but also air conditioning, battery-operated non-starting conditioning systems with thermoelectric modules and without mechanical elements like compressors are being manufactured for use by hybrid heavy trucks in the near future. In this study, the voltage and current consumed by a thermoelectric module were measured to determine the required battery power, and the performance of the conditioning system with air temperature, and humidity of the inlet/outlet modules and inside/outside the cabin for a truck, was evaluated using experimental apparatus under actual conditions. The results showed that, the thermoelectric module can be continously operated for about 1.5 h using existing 24 V batteries. The coefficent of performance(COP) of the cooling and heating modes was calculated to be an average 0.8-1.32. As expected, the heating performance was 30% more efficient than the cooling performance, which is general characteristic of thermoelectric modules.

  • Let $\mathcal{R}$ be a commutative ring with 1, and Let M be a (left) R-module. M is said to be pointwise projective if for each epimorphism ${\alpha}:\mathcal{A}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{B}$, where A and $\mathcal{B}$ are any $\mathcal{R}$-modules, and for each homomorphism ${\beta}:\mathcal{M}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{B}$, then for every $m{\in}\mathcal{M}$, there exists a homomorphism ${\varphi}:\mathcal{M}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{A}$, which may depend on m, such that ${\alpha}{\circ}{\varphi}(m)={\beta}(m)$. Our mean concern in this paper is to study the relations between pointwise projectivemodules with cancellation modules and its geeralization.

  • A module or independent subtree is a part of a fault tree whose child gates or basic events are not repeated in the remaining part of the fault tree. Modules are necessarily employed in order to reduce the computational costs of fault tree quantification. This quantification generates fault tree solutions such as minimal cut sets, minimal path sets, or binary decision diagrams (BDDs), and then, calculates top event probability and importance measures. This paper presents a new linear time algorithm to detect modules of large fault trees. It is shown through benchmark tests that the new method proposed in this study can very quickly detect the modules of a huge fault tree. It is recommended that this method be implemented into fault tree solvers for efficient probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) of nuclear power plants.

  • This study investigates the degradation characteristics of different material types of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyolefin (POE) with combining transparent backsheet. To this end, we fabricated samples with structure of glass/encapsulant/transparent backsheet for each type of encapsulants, and shingled Si modules with the same structure. The samples were then subjected to accelerated test by storing under damp heat condition of 85℃ and 85% RH. As a result, encaplsulant discoloration was observed, which the transmittance of the samples with EVA decreased in a rapid rate than the samples with POE. The discoloration also affected a power degradation of the shingled modules with a reduction of current density, resulting that the module with EVA showed more drop on the efficiency than the modules with POE. Furthermore, corrosion of the soldered ribbon caused by acetic acid produced from the degraded EVA also contributed in fill factor reduction.

  • Over a ring R, let $P_R$ be a finitely generated projective right R-module. Then we define the G-injector (G-projector) if $P_R$ preservers Gorenstein injective modules (Gorenstein projective modules), the Gflator if $P_R$ preservers Gorenstein flat modules. G-injector (G-flator) and G-injector are characterized focus primarily on the cases where R is a Gorenstein ring, and under this condition we also study the relations between the injector (projector, flator) and the G-injector (G-projector, G-flator). Over any ring we also give the characteristics of G-injector (G-flator) by the Gorenstein injective (Gorenstein flat) dimensions of modules.

  • In this paper we define and study a new kind of dimension called, semisimple dimension, that measures how far a module is from being semisimple. Like other kinds of dimensions, this is an ordinal valued invariant. We give some interesting and useful properties of rings or modules which have semisimple dimension. It is shown that a noetherian module with semisimple dimension is an artinian module. A domain with semisimple dimension is a division ring. Also, for a semiprime right non-singular ring R, if its maximal right quotient ring has semisimple dimension as a right R-module, then R is a semisimple artinian ring. We also characterize rings whose modules have semisimple dimension. In fact, it is shown that all right R-modules have semisimple dimension if and only if the free right R-module ${\oplus}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ R has semisimple dimension, if and only if R is a semisimple artinian ring.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop precast concrete modules that can be used as a booth and a single-story building with a large space. This precast concrete module is originally designed to have a hexagonal facade when the upper and lower parts, which are symmetrical about horizontal connection line, are combined. A structural design was conducted to ensure structural safety of these precast concrete modules and to extend the slope of the inclined members as far as possible. Then the finite element analysis was performed to estimate the lateral and vertical deflection of complete precast concrete modular structures. And to verify the structural safety of these precast concrete modules, weight loading tests were conducted on the upper and lower modules respectively.

  • Nowadays, the study on the ceramic components and modules using LTCC is being peformed and on the passives included in modules is being done also. Especillay frequency dependent components like capacitor and inductor are studied by many groups, but the behavior of embedded resistor in MCM-C module are not studied vigorously. The characteristics of embedded resistor in modules is different from that of resistor alone. In our research, behavior of embedded resistor is examined in the variation of position and geometrical parameters.
