  • Purpose: This study carried out the Quality by Design (QbD)6σ process to verify the effectiveness and equivalence of the finished D-antigen quantitative test method, and compared the OFAT-based method validation and test result acceptance criteria with the Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD)-based method validation and test method. This is a study on how to reduce the risk of delay in permit change by increasing the reliability of permit data in the existing method by statistically analyzing the results. Methods: With the QbD6σ process, the effectiveness and equivalence of the D-antigen quantitative test method were verified with the data of the existing test method and the new test method. Results: Method validation tests are performed based on AQbD. Critical Method Parameters are identified through risk assessment, and single/combined actions are verified by designing and performing tests for Critical Method Parameters (analysis of variance, full factorial design method). Method validation can be effectively accomplished with the QbD6σ process. Conclusion: The use of QbD6σ can be used to achieve satisfactory results for both pharmaceutical companies and regulators by using appropriate statistical analytical methods for method validation as required by regulatory agencies.

  • As the demands of X-Y linear motors increase, it becomes very important to measure flatness errors and to compensate them. In this study, in order to investigate flatness errors, a laser interferometer is used for measurement. To improve the measurement efficiency, a Union Jack method is adopted instead of a square method. The square method is frequently used because of its accuracy, but it requires many measurement points. In this study, the Union Jack method with Grey Theory is used. By using the Grey Theory, unmeasured data are predicted, and these are compared with results of the square method. The results show that the Union Jack method with Grey Theory is accurate enough to replace the square method.

  • This study presents techniques for the estimation of parameters in flood routing method of natural channel.. The Muskingum routing method is the most widely used method of hydrologic stream channel routing. In this paper, Genetic Algorithm and Fletcher-Powell method is applied to determine parameters(K and x) of the Muskingum routing method. The results of the approach shows that Genetic Algorithm method can be one of methods to determine parameters of the Muskingum routing method. Based on the analysis for estimated parameters and the comparison with the results from observed data, the applicability of Genetic Algorithm is verified.

  • The dynamic characteristics of a system can be critically influenced by system uncertainty, so the dynamic system must be analyzed stochastically in consideration of system uncertainty. This study presents the stochastic model of a nonlinear dynamic system with uncertain parameters under nonstationary stochastic inputs. And this stochastic system is analyzed by a new stochastic process closure method and moment equation method. The first moment equation is numerically evaluated by Runge-Kutta method and the second moment equation is numerically evaluated by stochastic process closure method, 4th cumulant neglect closure method and Runge-Kutta method. But the first and the second moment equations are coupled each other, so this equations are approximately evaluated by a iterative method. Finally the accuracy of the present method is verified by Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Recently, performance-based analysis/design methods such as the capacity spectrum method and the direct displacement-based design method were developed. In these methods, the estimation of energy dissipation capacity due to inelastic behavior of RC structures depends on empirical equations which are not sufficiently accurate. On the other hand, in a recent study, a simplified method for evaluating energy dissipation capacity was developed. In the present study, based on the evaluation method, a new seismic design method for flexure-dominated RC walls is developed. In determination of seismic earthquake load, the proposed design method can address variation of the energy dissipation capacity with design parameters such as dimensions and shapes of cross-sections, axial force, and reinforcement ratio and arrangement. The proposed design method is compared with the current performance-based design methods and the applicability of the proposed method is disscussed.

  • New algorithms are derived for nonlinear programming problems which are characterized by their large variables and equality and inequality constraints. The algorithms are based upon the introduction of the Dependent-Variable-Elimination method, Independent-Variable-Reduction method, Optimally-Ordered-Triangular-Factorization method, Equality-Inequality-Sequential-Satisfaction method, etc. For a case study problem relating to the optimal determination of load flow in a 10-bus, 13-line sample power system, several approaches are undertaken, such as SUMT, Lagrange's Multiplier method, sequential applications of linear and quadratic programming method. For applying the linear programming method, the conventional simplex algorithm is modified to the large-system-oriented one by the introduction of the Two-Phase method and Variable-Upper-Bounding method, thus resulting in remarkable savings in memory requirements and computing time. The case study shows the validity and effectivity of the algorithms presented herein.

  • Human posture prediction and motion simulaiton methods try to solve inverse kinematic problems based on the optimization concept. It is of great concern to develop an optimization method which soloves complicated optimization models in an efficient way in order for the models to be biomechanically sound. In this study, a new optimization method for posture prediction, which is named the Complex Method, is presented. The Complex Method demonstrates more flexibility in a way that it can deal with various forms of objective functions with constraints. This is because the method is a function-value-based approach. A two-eimensional whole-body lifting task was selected as an example of posture prediction, and a comparison study with te incrementation method was conducted in order to evaluate the accuracy of the Complex Method.

  • This study introduced a coding method for mathematical problems in the TIMSS 1999 Video Study, which used sixteen indicators to analyze mathematical problems in a lesson. Based on this framework for coding, the researcher analyzed three lesson videos on Binomial Theorem taught respectively by three Chinese teachers, and got some features of mathematical problems in these three lessons.
