The purpose of this study was to analyze the perception of academic difficulties of middle school students and their influences variables in technology subject. The subjects of this study were middle school students in the whole country. A total of 420 students were selected considering the grade and area for the survey. The data were collected by mail and analyzed using SPSS 22.0K. The results of this study were as follows : First, The academic difficulties perceived by middle school students in the technology subject were recognized as normal. Second, Middle school students perceived it as a lack of experience (opportunity) in the technology domain as a cause of academic difficulties. Third, In the learning process, the female students were more difficult to understand the related terms and theories than the male students. In the problem solving activities, the female students were more difficult than the male students in identifying problems, designing solutions, selecting solutions, modeling, testing solutions, and correcting improvements. Fourth, the academic difficulty in learning technology lesson was difficult in terms of terminology, theory, and practice activities in the order of Second, Third, and 1st grade. Fifth, lack of understanding knowledge, confusion of contents knowledge, lack of technical interest, shortage of class hours, lack of understanding of evaluation criteria were all influenced by the difficulty of technical subject learning. Sixth, the academic difficulty influencing the problem solving process was explained by understanding comprehension, content knowledge confusion, technical interest, class time, understanding of evaluation criteria.

The purpose of this study was to determine the strategies that middle school students used in solving problems concerning density and solubility. These were compared in the aspects of problem contexts for 42 students of varying logical reasoning ability, spatial ability, and learning approach. A coding scheme used consists of five categories: reading & organization, production, errors, evaluation, and strategy. Students' protocols were analyzed after intercoder agreement had been established to be .95. The results were as follows: 1. Students had more difficulties in reading and organizing the problems in everyday contexts than in scientific contexts. Students at the concrete-operational stage and / or surface approach were more likely to have difficulties in reading and organizing the problems than those at the formal-operational stage and / or deep approach. 2. Students tended to split up the solubility problems into sub-problems and to solve the density problem in everyday contexts in random manner. These were significantly correlated with the test scores concerning logical reasoning ability, spatial ability, and learning approach at the .1 level of significance. 3. Major errors in solving the density problems were to disregard the given information or generated and to use inappropriate information. Many errors in solving the solubility problems were found to be executive errors. The strategy to use the information given appropriately was positively related to students' logical reasoning ability, spatial ability, and learning approach. 4. More evaluation strategies were found in everyday contexts. Their strategies to grasp the meaning of answers and to check the math were significantly related to students' logical reasoning ability. 5. Students used the random trial-and-error strategy more than the systematic strategy and the systematic trial-and-error strategy, especially in everyday contexts. The strategies used by the students were significantly related to students' logical reasoning ability, spatial ability, and learning approach.
E-Learning is widely introduced with cyber universities in Korea from 2001 whencyber universities were first authorized by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. E-learning amplified by cyber university gave a big impact in the campus based university which became the cause for the educational paradigm shift. The changes of status of cyber university shows important trend in college education which was analyzed by enrollment rate, types of cyber university, demography, and study areas. The enrollment rate of cyber universities is ever since 2001 and variety of study areas gives popularity to students. The demography of students is as expected older than traditional students. Female students at the cyber university outnumbered that at campus based university in Korea. For analyzing the trend of e-learning in Korea, there were studies twice in 2001 May-June from 213 faculty members and staff, 630 students and in 2004 May-June with 401 students. Most of e-learning students tent to spend less time yet, students feel more burden with e-learning. Professors tend to load more materials for the e-learning in 2001but in 2004 study, the difference no longer exists. Professors and students feel the academic achievement through e-learning is not as good as from the traditional classes. Difficulties for e-learning in 2001 were the lack of administrative information but in 2004, boring contents and lack of instructional strategies for e-learning. Technical problems still do exist but less serious. Suggestions for e-learning are blended learning, online students prefer video streaming with their own lecturer, new definition of instructor is needed, professional development for content development and online instruction is needed, success story of online learning should be encouraged, guidance for online students needed. The cyber university experiencegave a positive impact on the traditional universities such as rethinking the roles of universities, the quality control of classes, professional development, student oriented educational service of e-learning pedagogy.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the difficulties of teachers and students on the unit about 'measuring weight.' In this research, we have acquired data about teachers through survey, interview, and self-reflection journals, at the same time we have collected information on the students through survey, assessment test, and interview. We have extracted the difficulties from analysis with constant comparison method. In addition, we have analysed the curriculum of science and mathematics to know the leaning sequence. The analysis had been checked up by experts in science education. The result of the study is as follows: The difficulties of teachers are from the lack of teachers' descriptive knowledge, disorder of conceptual hierarchy in the curriculum, poor experimental instruments, and low psychomotor skill of students. The difficulties of students are from common misconceptions, opaque concepts, lack of manipulation skill, insufficiency of mathematical ability, difficulty of application of principles to the real situation, and lack of problem-solving ability. In addition, teachers have recognized that students face more difficulties in experiment class, while students think that they face more difficulties in conceptual understanding class.
In this study, we divided the teaching and learning of proof into three steps in the demonstrative geometry of the middle school mathematics. And then we surveyed the student's difficulties in the teaching and learning of proof by using of questionnaire. Results of this survey suggest that students cannot only understand the meaning of proof in the teaching and learning of proof but also they cannot deduce simple mathematical reasoning as judgement for the truth of propositions. Moreover, they cannot follow the hypothesis to a conclusion of the proposition It results from the fact that students cannot understand clearly the meaning and the role of hypotheses and conclusions of propositions. So we need to focus more on teaching students about the meaning and role of hypotheses and conclusions of propositions.
This paper aims to develop the learning contents of PBL based program and analyze the result of evaluation questionnaire to examine the students' thoughts concerning the effectiveness of PBL course and their satisfaction. 'Discussion' is one of the representative communicative types, especially requesting both communication competence and teamwork among team members. This study was conducted with 218 junior and senior students taking lectures of ${\ll}$Presentation and Debate Skills${\gg}$ in the college of engineering at Pusan National University. According to the evaluation result, students experienced various effects of PBL such as (1) self-directed learning, (2) cooperative learning, (3) problem solving skills, etc. Students pointed out also as merits of PBL course, (1) knowledge acquisition and information sharing among students, (2) improvement of communicative competence, (3) amelioration of teamwork, (4) progress of the problem solving skills. However, there have been several difficulties and problems during PBL process, implications for ameliorating PBL based were discussed and suggested in detail.

Reflection has been of interest to educators as Dewey discussed it. Information about how teachers interpret and analyze their students' learning would help us understand difficulties in teaching and learning. Moreover, it can be useful for teacher education by improving teaching methods. In this study, I investigated four U.S.A. mathematics teachers in a middle school. In this paper, I discussed Assess instances among the teachers' reflections on their students' thinking and changes of the reflections as time went by.
This study was to find the perception of mathematical & scientific learning of North Korean students who lived in Korea. To understand their perception, three groups as the focus group for clinical interview, consisting of North Korean students, their teaches and their parents, were investigated through narrative description of qualitative method, North Korean students experienced the gap between what they had learned and what they learned in Korea, due to visiting the 3rd country before they came to Korea. So they were in need of well developed instructional instruments based on a precise diagnosis of language ability to help them get over their difficulties. Second, they have difficulties in math & science classes due to differences between curricular and to the differences between the ways of expression of terminologies used in two countries. They expressed that the group work in learning and a great deal of number of problems could be helpful for their needs. Third, the community-service center should be operated in a systematic way to compensate their lack of getting a private education. Fourth, they thought that the supplemental materials should provide some sources that might help them to get over the language barrier and difficulties from the differences, because they depended on them.
Universities have recently introduced problem-based learning (PBL) to various subjects to enhance problem-solving skills (including self-directed learning and small-group learning) required in industry. The PBL module was applied to the personal production process in a draping class. A study was based on a questionnaire after conducting two PBL modules with a group of students. Each PBL module included 'design analysis', 'presentation of flat sketch and draping plan', 'discussion of the plan', 'evaluation of the draping result and correcting the problem', and 'final evaluation of the completed project'. Results showed that satisfaction with the PBL method and its activities was higher than satisfaction with existing teaching methods. In particular, among the various components, the 'design analysis' and 'the presentation step of flat sketch and draping plan' stages were more helpful to students compared to small-group discussion. Moreover, the effects of PBL were observed through student reflection essays, in which students suggested that PBL was very effective in enhancing problem-solving through self-directed and small-group learning. Despite the overall satisfaction with PBL, students expressed some minor difficulties associated with awkwardness with a novel learning method, lack of diverse perspectives among each group, and poor communication skills. Therefore, the study shows that PBL is highly likely to be useful to students when they are solving pattern drafting problems and making samples through self-directed learning and small-group learning.
The objectives of this study were to explore the difficulties of high school mathematics teachers while guiding students and to examine whether the perception of difficulties varied by gender, position, and work experience. This study randomly chose 36 mathematics teachers as participants and they were living in six cities or provinces in South Korea. The results showed that teachers experienced difficulties while guiding students, in student evaluation and teaching and learning methods, in the order of magnitude. There was no statistical difference by gender, position, and work experience. Unlike the results of previous studies suggesting that mathematics content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge would help students guide students, the results of this study revealed that they had relatively little impact on student guidance.
