XML Fulltext Retrieval System by Extracting Navigation Information (네비게이션 정보추출에 의한 XML 본문검색시스템)

  • Recently, to overcome the limit of keyword based retrieval system, the study based structured document has been studied. But it is hard for structured retrieval system to adapt a real service, in this paper, we propose a method of retrieval mechanism for the fulltext of XML documents. We explain DTD of XML based report, extracting navigation information and planing to adapt the retrieval system for article retrieval. Using the fulttext retrieval scheme, suggested system can be an alternative plan of professional structured based retrieval system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new video structuring method for reconstructuring a 'structured logical video' which adds logical video information to a conventional structured video. Logical video information is composed of background, object, and situation. The proposed structured video is reconstructed in logical unit like episodes as well as in physical unit like shots. It can support many video functions and may be reusable in many video applications-video browsing, video retrieval, video editing, etc. we also present the video database management system in order to manage the proposed structured video is modeled on object-oriented concept and hierarchical structure. Also, we design and implement a video browsing and retrieval system using the proposed structured video.

  • Information Retrieval System aims towards providing fast and accurate information to users. However, current search systems are based on plain svntactic analysis which makes it difficult for the user to find the exact required information. This paper proposes the SW-IRS (Semantic Web-based Information Retrieval System) using an Ontology Server. The proposed system is purposed to maximize efficiency and accuracy of information retrieval of unstructured and semi-structured documents by using an agent-based automatic classification technology and semantic web based information retrieval methods. For interoperability and easy integration, RDF based repository system is supported, and the newly developed ranking algorithm was applied to rank search results and provide more accurate and reliable information. Finally, a new ranking algorithm is suggested to be used to evaluate performance and verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed retrieval system.

  • In this study, we constructed a hypertext-based bibliographic information retrieval system, which is very usell tool to browse and retrieve structured data. We minimized the problem of the use; s disorientation with the keyword retrieval technique. We also presented the potential advantages of this system which could be obtained by implementing it on WWW.

  • The goal of this study is to generate a structured document which improves the performance of an information retrieval system by using thesaurus, information on relations between words (terms), and to study on the technique for searching this structured document. In order to accomplish this goal, we propose a DODI (Depth -Oriented Decomposition Index) technique for the structured document and an algorithm to search for related information efficient]y through this index technique that uses a thesaurus. We establish a storage system by which the structured document generated by this index technique is saved in a database through OpenXML and XML documents are generated through ForXML methods.

  • In this paper, as one of these efforts for making the intelligent data mining system we propose the Associative frame of the memory according to the following three steps. First,the structured frame for performing the main brain function should be made. In this frame, the concepts of learning memory and episode memory are considered. Second,the learning mechanism for data acquisition and storing mechanism in the memory frame are provided. The obtained data are arranged and stored in the memory following the rules of the structured memory frame. Third, it is the last step of processing the inference and knowledge retrieval function using the stored knowledge in the associative memory frame. This system is applied to the area for estimating the purchasing degree from the type of customer's tastes, the pattern of commodities and the evaluation of a company.

Design of XML Document Management System based on Schema (스키마 기반의 XML문서 관리 시스템 설계)

  • As progressing rapidly to the information society and increasing greatly the amount of information, many researchers have been made utilizing XML to store and retrieval the information effectively. But, many other existing method could not support various structured retrieval method for specific parent, children and sibling nodes. In this paper, we propose (1)an effective method of representation for structured information and of indexing mechanism using OETID(Ordered Element Type ID) for effective management and structured retrieval of the XML documents. Also it contains another proposal that is (2) a documents integration mechanism for retrieval result and storing technique to store structural information of the XML documents. With our methods, we could effectively represent structural information of XML documents, and could directly access the specific elements and process various queries by simple operations.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the users' behaviour when interacting with elements based on XML documents retrieval system and develop approaches for XML retrieval which are effective in user-based environment. We followed the experimental guidelines from the INEX 2006 iTrack organizers. For the research goals, 16 responses from the questionnaires per subject and system logs were collected and analyzed using Excel and SPSS 17.0.

An Experimental Study Investigating the Retrieval Effectiveness of a Video Retrieval System Using Tag Query Expansion (태그 질의 확장 기능에 기반한 비디오 검색 시스템의 효율성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This study designed a pilot system in which queries can be expanded through a tag ontology where equivalent, synonymous, or related tags are bound together, in order to improve the retrieval effectiveness of videos. We evaluated the proposed pilot system by comparing it to a tag-based system without tag control, in terms of recall and precision rates. Our study results showed that the mean recall rate in the structured folksonomy-based system was statistically higher than that in the tag-based system. On the other hand, the mean precision rate in the structured folksonomy-based system was not statistically higher than that in the tag-based system. The result of this study can be utilized as a guide on how to effectively use tags as social metadata of digital video libraries.

  • SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) is the ISO standard fer describing the logical structure of documents and is also adopted as the CALS standard for document description. Since then, there have been growing interests in SGML application in a variety of fields. However because SGML doesn't provide a standard method for describing various processing informations, ie, formatting and transformation, most applications have applied methods that are system dependent. Recently, ISO defined DSSSL(Document Style Semantics and Specification Language) as a standard mechanism to specify the formatting, transformation and retrieval of structured documents. Therefore, in this paper, we present a DSSSL processing system far style control of structured documents such as SGML documents. The system processes DSSSL style sheet that describes layout of documents and browses the result of its application to a SGML document. We have conducted tests on a lot of SGML documents and DSSSL style sheets successfully. Now, we are developing the SGML document management system that supports creation, editing, storage and retrieval of SGML document based upon the DSSSL processor and the SGML parser which we have developed.
