Shell structures are widely used in a variety of engineering application, and mathematical solution of shell structures are available only for a few special cases. The solution of shell structure is more complicated when it has such condition as winkler foundation, other problems. In this study many simplified methods (analogy of beam on elastic foudation, finite element method and transfer matrix method) are applied to analyze a hemisphere-cylindrical shell structures on elastic foundation. And the transfer matrix method is extensively used for the structural analysis because of its merit in the theoretical backgroud and applicability. Therefore, this paper presents the analysis of hemisphere-cylindrical shell structure base on the transfer matrix method. The technique is attractive for implementation on a numerical solution by means of a computer program coded in FORTRAN language with a few elements. To demonstrate this fact, it gives good results which compare well with finite element method.

In this paper, a new method to get the optimum channel capacity of a Multiple-Input MultipleOutput (MIMO) system is presented. The proposed method exploits the diagonal structure of channel matrix to maximize the channel capacity. The diagonal format of the channel matrix is formed by multiplying the transmitted signal with the pre-compensated channel PCC) matrix. Numerical simulations show that the proposed method exploiting the diagonal structure of channel matrix could significantly increase the system capacity compared with the system without applying the diagonal structure of channel matrix.

In this paper, a new method to get the optimum channel capacity of a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system is presented. The proposed method exploits the diagonal structure o f channel matrix in order to maximize the channel capacity. The diagonal format of the channel matrix is formed by multiplying the transmitted signal with the precompensated channel (PCC) matrix. Numerical simulations show that the proposed method exploiting the diagonal structure of channel matrix could significantly increase the system capacity compared with the system without applying the diagonal structure of channel matrix.
The dynamic behavior of a complex mechanical structure can be identified by dividing the structure into a series of smaller structure, called sub- structure and by studying the dynamic characteristics of these components. Generally, the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure are strongly affected by the properties of joint parameters. In this paper, to identify the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure, and experimental identification method in which directrly measured frequency response function(FRF) is used is considered. The method does not use the procedure of complex matrix calculation but use that of real matrix calculation. To confirm this method, computer simulation is performed by using frequency response function mixed with noise, and the experimental study is performed about the simple structure. The dynamic characteristics of joint parameters and identified more accurately than in using the prcedure of complex matrix calculation.
The differentiation of nail matrix and fine structure of matrix cells were studied with light and electron microscope using specimens from nails of thumb finger in Korean fetuses 14 to 24 weeks old. Fetal nail matrix consisted of two horizontal layers, thicker ventral and thinner dorsal matrices, originating from invagination of epidermis in proximal nail field. Matrix being generally thicker in its distal region than the apex became gradually thickened with increase of the fetal age. Each matrix consisted of single layer of basal cells and multiple layers of squamous cells which are arranged close to and parallel to the central axis of the nail mairix. The process of keratinization of fetal nail matrix was noted to be occured concurrently in the ventral and dorsal matrices along the central axis of matrix toward distal and dorsal direction. Squamous cells became matured with accumulation of tonofilaments, increase of keratohyalin granules, discharge of membrane coating granules, and narrowing of intercellular spaces, thickening of plasma membrane and finally being transformed into horny cells of nail plate. Horny cells of nail plate filled with fibrous elements in the electron dense amorphous substance. These findings of keratinization process of fetal nail matrix appeared to be similar to those of keratinization in epidermis and inner root sheath of the hair. In the nail matrix, however, corresponding region to the keratogenous zone of growing hair follicle was not observed. Vacuolated squamous cells of nail matrix seen on light microscopy was considered to be artefactual product, but squamous cells with condensed small nuclei rarely found adjacent nail plate was considered to be one of the squamous cells with unknown function. Proximal end of nail plate was observed on dorsal surface of nail field distal to the proximal nail fold at 14 and 16 weeks old human embryos. Proximal prolongation of the proximal end of nail plate was occured with advancing fetal age and afterward 21 weeks nail plate invaded into nail matrix. Melanin granule containing cells and Merkel cells were present only on the basal layer of dorsal nail matirx.
This note proposes a robust LQR method for systems with structured real parameter uncertainty based on Riccati equation approach. Emphasis is on the reduction of design conservatism in the sense of quadratic performance by utilizing the uncertainty structure. The class of uncertainty treated includes all the form of additive real parameter uncertainty, which has the multiple rank structure. To handle the structure of uncertainty, the scaling matrix with block diagonal structure is introduced. By changing the scaling matrix, all the possible set of uncertainty structures can be represented. Modified algebraic Riccati equation (MARE) is newly proposed to obtain a robust feedback control law, which makes the quadratic cost finite for an arbitrary scaling matrix. The remaining design freedom, that is, the scaling matrix is used for minimizing the upper bound of the quadratic cost for all possible set of uncertainties within the given bounds. A design example is shown to demonstrate the simplicity and the effectiveness of proposed method.

Design is an act based on multidisciplinary information. The involvement of various stakeholders makes it difficult to process, plan, and integrate. Iteration is frequent in most of the engineering design and development projects including construction. Design iterations cause rework, and extra efforts are required to get the optimal sequence and to manage the projects. The simple project management techniques are insufficient to fulfill the requirements of integrated design. This paper entails two things: design structure matrix and design parameters' information based model. The emphasis has been given to optimal sequence and crucial iteration using design structure matrix analysis technique. The design projects have been studied using survey data from industry. The optimal sequence and crucial iterations results have been utilized for proposed model. Model integrates two things: information about produced- required key design parameters and information of design changes during the design process. It will help to get familiar with Design management in order to fulfill contemporary needs.
We propose a new pixel structure for Active Matrix OLED (AMOLED). The proposed pixel structure can display full color images by compensating threshold voltage (Vth) variation of driving TFTs. And we obtain an improved contrast ratio(C/R) of higher than 600:1

In this letter, we propose an unsupervised framework for speech noise reduction based on the recent development of low-rank and sparse matrix decomposition. The proposed framework directly separates the speech signal from noisy speech by decomposing the noisy speech spectrogram into three submatrices: the noise structure matrix, the clean speech structure matrix, and the residual noise matrix. Evaluations on the Noisex-92 dataset show that the proposed method achieves a signal-to-distortion ratio approximately 2.48 dB and 3.23 dB higher than that of the robust principal component analysis method and the non-negative matrix factorization method, respectively, when the input SNR is -5 dB.

Generalized linear mixed models(GLMMs) are frequently used for the analysis of longitudinal categorical data when the subject-specific effects is of interest. In GLMMs, the structure of the random effects covariance matrix is important for the estimation of fixed effects and to explain subject and time variations. The estimation of the matrix is not simple because of the high dimension and the positive definiteness; subsequently, we practically use the simple structure of the covariance matrix such as AR(1). However, this strong assumption can result in biased estimates of the fixed effects. In this paper, we introduce Bayesian modeling approaches for the random effects covariance matrix using a modified Cholesky decomposition. The modified Cholesky decomposition approach has been used to explain a heterogenous random effects covariance matrix and the subsequent estimated covariance matrix will be positive definite. We analyze metabolic syndrome data from a Korean Genomic Epidemiology Study using these methods.
