A Design Improvement of the Vent Silencer of the Industrial Plants Using Acoustic Analysis (음향해석을 이용한 산업용 플랜트 배출 소음기의 설계 개선)

  • This study focuses on a performance improvement of the vent silencer using acoustic analysis. Since the vent silencer is generally used for a high level shock noise, it should be designed to reduce a wide frequency band noise. In the designing stage of the vent silencer, structural shapes of diffuser and splitter are the most significant design parameters. Effects of modifying the original structure of the diffuser and the splitter are analyzed and evaluated. From the results, It is found that the diffuser with two pipes and double-step structure more effectively reduces a wide frequency band noise but the increment of the number of splitters is not desirable.

  • This paper evaluated the structural improvements and new product development of cleaning machines. A cleaning machine was redesigned for structural improvements and new product development using a 3-D design program CATIA. In addition, structural analysis was conducted on the modeled cleaning machine using the ANSYS program. The total deformation, stress and strain were obtained by the pressure change. This result was applied to the new product development of cleaning machines.

Reliability Improvement of Thin Oxide by Double Deposition of Silicon (실리콘의 이중증착에 의한 산화막 신뢰성 향상)

  • Degradation of thin oxide by doped poly-Si and its improvement were studied. The gate oxide can be degraded by phosphorous in poly-Si doped POCl3. The degradation is increased with the decrement of sheet resistance and poly-Si thickness. Oxide failures of amorphous-Si are higher than those of poly-Si. In-situ double deposition of amorphous-Si, 54$0^{\circ}C$/30 nm, and poly-Si, 6$25^{\circ}C$/220 nm, forms the mismatch structure of grain boundary between amorphous-Si and poly-Si, and suppresses the excess phosphorous on oxide surface by the mismatch structure. The control of phosphorous through grain boundary improves the oxide reliability.

  • General portal machine represents a distinct weak spot concerning their structural behavior because of long protruding structure components, such as saddles and rams. The weak point causes the deformation of the machine tool and consequently rises a severe machining error. The purpose of this study is to improve the structural design of crossrail in order to minimize it's distortion. Tool Center Point (TCP) was chosen as a reference point for evaluating the distortion effect of a crossrail and topological optimization was adopted as a method of structural design improvement. The displacements of TCP according to the machining positions were investigated by structural analyses for both of original crossrail design and the improved one. The comparing results showed that the displacement of TCP could be reduced about 55% maximum.

  • This paper analyzes the difference between theoretical cost of quality and real world cost. Examined are the theoretical cost structure of quality, it's measurement styles, a process based improvement strategy of quality cost, and possible adaptation of decision making concepts in enhancing the cost structure. This study will contribute to the literature in delineating an improvement process of quality cost by adjusting service policy.

  • This is a study for the improvement of the fractured lug structure that connects the landing gear to the fuselage of the aircraft using the composite leaf spring landing gear. The lug surface was analyzed to find out the cause of fracture. The lug was destroyed by the crack initiation and propagation under the repeated stresses. The frictional wears of the lug structure were proceeded and that affected adversely to the crack. Also, the square protrusion of the lug has a weak shape to bring about stress concentration. The design changes were conducted and the test was performed to verify changed design results.

  • This paper aims to design zig joint three dimensionally in order to secure accurate construction of a long bridge and suggests an improved structural consideration applying a simulation techniques to solve occurring problems at zig joint area. This preliminary simulation approach may improve the efficiency of construction engineering and enhance technical competitive since many budgets are involved in the manufacturing of zig.

  • Design of IPI feeding structure affecting the antenna gain improvement of mobile phone was investigated. IPI feeder which based on the T matching theory increase line current for internal antenna such as IFA. So IPI feeder makes higher radiation resistance, and also increases the gain with increasing radiation efficiency. To verify IPI feeding effect, feeder is applied to conventional CDMA/DCS dual band IFA. Measurement shows that IPI-IFA has 0.5 ~ 1.4[dBi] higher gain than conventional IFA at CDMA/DCS band. Resonant frequency did not change.

  • In a multi-cavity mold having a runner layout of a fish bone structure, problems of unbalanced filling between cavities occur constantly. Unbalanced charging lowers the dimensional accuracy of a molded article and causes deformation after molding. To solve this problem, the gate size connected to each cavity is adjusted using the BGV (Balanced Gate Value) equation. In this paper, in order to solve the filling imbalance problem of the runner layout mold of fish bone structure through injection molding analysis study, we compared the charging imbalance phenomenon before and after improvement after adjusting the gate size by applying BGV equation. From the results of the molding analysis, the shrinkage ratio before and after the improvement of the molded article was improved by only about 0.08%. Based on these results, it was confirmed that the charging imbalance problem was not significantly improved even when the BGV equation was applied.

  • The Korea's safety standards for vehicle have been strengthened to reduce casualties from traffic accidents since 1962. The standards have a rather complicated structure. The safety standards are composed of the main text and asterisks, and the safety standard implementation rules are composed of the main text, asterisks and appendices, and items of the same name are stipulated in other chapters within the safety standards. This study is to suggest improvement measures such as simplifying the structure of these safety standards and integrating safety standard items with the same name. Through this, users' understanding of the standards will be improved, and it is expected that the system will be more efficient such as securing safety quickly through harmonization with international standards following the development of rapidly changing new technologies such as automated vehicles.
