The core loss of $3\%$ SiFe is strongly dependent on silicon content, impurities, permeability, and domain structure of the SiFe. Domain refining has been proved to be very good method for reduction of core loss in high permeability grain oriented SiFe, and laser scribing is well-blown as an effective and industrially important method of domain refinement. In this work, magnetic domain refinement has been carried out by using a pulsed Nd : YAG laser, and the core losses have been measured and analyzed to and optimal parameters of the laser treatment. The laser hem was focused with a spot size of $100{\mu}m$ and pulse energy of 10${\~}$35mJ and the lines were scribed with a period of ${\~}$5mm. The core loss was improved up to $17\%$ with 30 ns-Nd : YAG laser beam in $3\%$ SiFe.

Many crops including cereals, tuber crops, feeds, and turf grasses are often damaged by various environmental stresses such as drought, salt, cold, and high temperature, causing the reduction of their productivity. Plants are sessile and cannot escape from environmental stresses. Thus, plants evolve in the direction of overcoming the environmental stresses. Some plant genes such as ARF, ABI3, NAC, HSF, and WRKY are known to respond to environmental stresses as they transcriptionally regulate the stress response pathways. For example, the OsWRKY76 gene contributes to the enhanced resistance to low temperatures and pathogenic infections. The AtWRKY28 also plays a role in environmental stresses. Zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.) is popularly grown for gardens and golf courses. However, the function of the WRKY gene, another environmental stress-related gene, is not known in zoysiagrass. In this study, the ZjWRKY3 and ZjWRKY7 genes with one shared WRKY domain have been isolated in zoysiagrass. The expression of these genes increased in response to low temperature, drought, and salt stresses. Furthermore, the infection of the brown patch-causing Rhozoctonia solani induced the expression of ZjWRKY3 and ZjWRKY7. The corresponding proteins bind to the W-box of the Zjchi promoter, possibly regulating their transcriptions. The researchers suggest that the ZjWRKY3 and ZjWRKY7 genes transcriptionally regulate abiotic and biotic stress related downstream genes.
In this study the stress analysis of orthotropic thin plate with arbitrary shapes for different boundary conditionsis investigated. Meshfreemethod is applied to static analysis of thin plates with various geometries based on the Kirchhoff classical plate theory. According to the meshfree method the domain of the plates are expressed through a set of nodes without using mesh. In this method, a set of nodes are defined in a standard rectangular domain, then via a third order map, these nodes are transferred to the main domain of the original geometry; therefore the analysis of the plates can be done. Herein, Meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) as a meshfree numerical method is utilized. The MLS function in MLPG does not satisfy essential boundary conditions using Delta Kronecker. In the MLPG method, direct interpolation of the boundary conditions can be applied due to constructing node by node of the system equations. The detailed parametric study is conducted, focusing on the arbitrary geometries of the thin plates. Results show that the meshfree method provides better accuracy rather than finite element method. Also, it is found that trend of the figures have good agreement with relevant published papers.

Micro-defects in the undoped and MgO-doped $LiNbO_3$ single crystals, which were grown from a congruent melting composition (48.6 mol% $Li_2$O) by the CZ (Czochralski) method, were analyzed using microscopic techniques such as optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Effects of the dopant and g value (the fraction solidfied) on the domain structure and micro-defect were investigated to build a corelationship with a growth condition of crystal. It was observed that the micro-defect concentrated near the domain wall is caused by high stress. Especially, the micro-defect was observed to be biased toward a certain side of the domain wall.
Studies of earthquakes over the last 50 years and the examination of dynamic soil behavior reveal that soil behavior is highly nonlinear and hysteretic even at small strains. Nonlinear behavior of soils during a seismic event has a predominant role in current site response analysis approaches. Common approaches to ground response analysis include linear, equivalent linear and nonlinear methods. These methods of ground response analysis may also be categorized into time domain and frequency domain concepts. Simplicity in developing analytical relations and accuracy in considering soils' dynamic properties dependency to loading frequency are benefits of frequency domain analysis. On the other hand, nonlinear methods are complicated and time consuming mainly because of their step by step integrations in time intervals. In part Ι of this paper, governing equations for seismic response analysis of surcharged and layered soils were developed using fundamental of wave propagation theory based on transfer function and boundary conditions. In this part, nonlinear seismic ground response is analyzed using extended HFTD method. The extended HFTD method benefits Newton-Raphson procedure which applies regular iterations and follows soils' fundamental stress-strain curve until convergence is achieved. The nonlinear HFTD approach developed here are applied to some examples presented in this part of the paper. Case studies are carried in which effects of some influencing parameters on the response are investigated. Results show that the current approach is sufficiently accurate, efficient, and fast converging. Discussions on the results obtained are presented throughout this part of the paper.
Vibration responses of a centrifugal pump required dynamic analysis for seismic qualification, were calculated by using spectrum analysis, which is known to be very simple compared with time domain analysis. Modal analysis was performed and the results were utilized in the spectrum analysis. The vibration responses calculated from the spectrum analysis were more conservative than those from the time domain analysis, that is, the former can be used as safer in design process. The pump was qualified for the specified seismic service conditions as specified in IEEE 344-1987. The maximum stresses were less than allowable stress limits. Based on the analysis results, it is concluded that the pump meets all the dynamic requirements of the applicable codes, standards, and technical specification.

Recoverability and vulnerability of navy ships under underwater explosion are critical verification factors in the acquisition phase of navy ships. This paper aims to establish numerical analysis techniques for the underwater explosion of navy ships. Doubly Asymptotic Approach (DAA) Equation of Motion (EOM) of primary shock wave and secondary bubble pulse proposed by Geers-Hunter was introduced. Assuming a non-compressive fluid, reference solution of the DAA EOM of Geers-Hunter using Runge-Kutta method was derived for the secondary bubble pulse phase with an assumed charge conditions. Convergence analyses to determine fluid element size were performed, suggesting that the minimum fluid element size for underwater explosion analysis was 0.1 m. The spherical and cylindrical fluid domains were found to be appropriate for the underwater explosion analyses from the fluid domain shape study. Because the element size of 0.1 m was too small to be applied to the actual navy ships, a very slender beam with the square solid section was selected for the study of fluid domain existence effect. The two underwater explosion models with/without fluid domain provided very similar results in terms of the displacement and stress processes.
The wind generated circulation model describes the phenomenon based on the following physical assumptions: a) As the horizontal dimension of the flow domain is several orders of magnitude larger than vertical dimension, nearly horizontal flow is realistic. b) The time taken for circulation to develop may effect on the flow domain of the earth's rotation, the contribution of the Coriolis force. c) A flow domain of large dimension results in quite large Reynolds number and the Reynolds stresses are approximated by the turbulent mean velocity gradient. d) The circulation is forced by the shear stresses on the water surface exercised by the wind. Modification made to the depth average approximation of the convective terms and the bed shear stress terms by adopting a certain distribution of current over the depth and laboratory measurements for the bed shear expression. Modification circulation patterns, energy evolution and surface profile gave the significant differences comparing with the classical model results. The modified model results in higher free surface gradients balancing both the free surface shear and the bed shear and consequently to higher surface profiles along the coast.
A general solution to the field equations of homogeneous isotropic generalized thermoelastic diffusion with two relaxation times (Green and Lindsay theory) has been obtained using the Fourier transform. Assuming the disturbances to be harmonically time.dependent, the transformed solution is obtained in the frequency domain. The application of a time harmonic concentrated and distributed loads have been considered to show the utility of the solution obtained. The transformed components of displacement, stress, temperature distribution and chemical potential distribution are inverted numerically, using a numerical inversion technique. Effect of diffusion on the resulting expressions have been depicted graphically for Green and Lindsay (G-L) and coupled (C-T) theories of thermoelasticity.
The present research deals with the time-harmonic deformation in transversely isotropic magneto thermoelastic solid with two temperature (2T), rotation due to inclined load and laser pulse. Generalized theory of thermoelasticity has been formulated for this mathematical model. The entire thermo-elastic medium is rotating with uniform angular velocity and subjected to thermally insulated and isothermal boundaries. The inclined load is supposed to be a linear combination of a normal load and a tangential load. The Fourier transform techniques have been used to find the solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components, and conductive temperature distribution with the horizontal distance are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. The effect of angle of inclination of normal and tangential load for Green Lindsay Model and time-harmonic source for Lord Shulman model is depicted graphically on the resulting quantities.
