This study was considered to occur the local wall thinning at elbow which is flowing the steam and high-pressure water of high-temperature. The angle of elbow is ${\Theta}=45^{\circ}$ and $67.545^{\circ}$. The damage behaviors of inner or outer wall thinning elbow under internal pressure were calculated by FEA(finite element analysis). We compared the simulated results by FEA with experimental data. The FEA results are as follows: In the FEA results of three types of wall thinning ratio, the circumferential and longitudinal stresses show the similar values regardless of the angle of elbow, respectively. The circumferential strain was greater at elbow of small angle, but the longitudinal strain was nearly same. The FEM stress of outer wall thinning elbow was slightly higher than that of the inner wall thinning elbow, and strain was also slightly higher. In the experiments, the circumferential strain was increased with the increase in the internal pressure, and increased rapidly on about 0.2% of strain. The longitudinal strain was small. The strain at break was much smaller than 0.2%. In the relation between pressure and eroded ratio, the criteria that can be used safely under operating pressure and design pressure were obtained. The results of FEA were in relatively good agreement with those of the experiment.

In cold forging, the elastic behavior of the die has a direct influence on the accuracy of the forging part. And the die dimension is continuously changed during the loading, unloading, and ejecting stage. In this paper, we evaluated the elastic deflections of cold forging die during loading, unloading, and ejecting stage. Uni-axial strain gauges are used to measure elastic strain of die during each forging stage. Strain gauges are attached on the surface of die. A commercial F.E.M code, DEFORM-2D$\^$TM/ is used to predict elastic strain of die. Two method of F.E.M. analysis are used to compare with measured and calculated elastic strain. One is to regard the die as rigid body over forging cycle. And then, the die sass is analyzed by loading the die with pressure from the forging part. The other is to regard the die as elastic body from forging cycle. The elastic strain of die is calculated and the die is elastically deformed at each strop. The calculated results under the elastic die assumption are well agreed with experimental data using strain gauges.

One of the main concerns in the structural integrity of offshore pipelines is mechanical damage from external loads. Pipelines are exposed to fatigue failure in welded joints due to geometric discontinuity. In addition, fatigue loads such as currents, waves, and platform motions may cause significant plastic deformation and fracture or leakage within a relatively low-cycle regime. The 2007 ASME Div. 2 Code adopts the master S―N curve for the fatigue evaluation of welded joints based on the mesh-insensitive structural stress. An extension to the master S―N curve was introduced to evaluate the low-cycle fatigue strength. This structural strain method uses the tensile properties of the material. However, the monotonic tensile properties have limitations in describing the material behavior above the elastic range because most engineering materials exhibit hardening or softening behavior under cyclic loads. The goal of this study is to extend the cyclic stress-strain behavior to the structural strain method. To this end, structural strain-based procedure was established while considering the cyclic stress-strain behavior and compared to the structural strain method with monotonic tensile properties. Finally, the improved prediction method was validated using fatigue test data from full-scale girth-welded pipes.
A new antagonistic strain of actinomycete, designated AP19-2, was isolated from the feces of giant pandas inhabiting the Foping National Nature Reserve in China. Cultural characteristic studies strongly suggested that this strain is a member of the genus Streptomyces. The nucleotide sequence of the 16S rRNA gene of strain AP19-2 evidenced profound similarity (97-99 %) with other Streptomyces strains. Two pure active molecules were isolated from a fermentation broth of Streptomyces sp. strain AP19-2 via extraction, concentration, silica gel G column chromatography, and HPLC. The chemical structures of the two related compounds (referred to as chromomycin $A_2$ and chromomycin $A_3$) were established on the basis of their Infrared spectra (IR), High Resolution Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS), and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data, and by comparison with published data.

Mechanical testing methods to determine the material constants for large deformation nonlinear finite element analysis were demonstrated for natural rubber. Uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear tests of rubber specimens are performed to achieve the stress-strain curves. The stress-strain curves are obtained after between 5 and 10 cycles to consider the Mullins effect. Mooney and Ogden strain-energy density functions, which are typical form of the hyperelastic material, are determined and compared with each other. The material constants using only uniaxial tension data are about 20% higher than those obtained by any other test data set. The experimental equations of shear elastic modulus on the hardness and maximum strain are presented using multiple regression method. Large deformation finite element analysis of automotive transmission mount using different material constants is performed and the load-displacement curves are compared with experiments. The selection of material constant in large deformation finite element analysis depend on the strain level of component in service.
Most domestic and international standards on the forming limit diagram (FLD) including ISO 12004-2, use a 'position-dependent method,' which determines the forming limit from a strain distribution measured on the specimen after necking or fracture. However, the position-dependent method has inherent problems such as the incidence of asymmetry of a strain distribution, the estimation of missing data near fracture, the termination time of test, and the deformation due to the new stress equilibrium after a fracture, which is blamed for causing sometimes a significant lab-to-lab variation. The 'time-dependent method,' which is anticipated to be a new international standard for evaluating the forming limit, is expected to greatly improve these intrinsic disadvantages of the position-dependent method. It is because the time-dependent method makes it possible to identify and accurately determine the forming limit, just before the necking point from the strain data as continuously measured in a short time interval. In this study, we propose a new time-dependent method based on a Gaussian fitting of strain acceleration with the introduction of 'normalized correlation coefficient.' It has been shown in this study that this method can determine the forming limit very stably and gives a higher value, which is in comparison with the results of the previously studied position-dependent and time-dependent methods.

Strain-softening model is developed to characterize the interface behavior of geomembrane with geotextile and geosynthetic clay liner(GCL). The model proposed in this research is calibrated by using data from direct shear tests conducted on smooth and textured geomembrane. The research is divided into two regions, pre-peak and post-peak, to take into account of strain-softening effect. Although slight difference between measured and back calculated data is observed under high normal stress, good agreements, in general, are found from back calculations. Especially, good consistency is observed in the case of low normal stress. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the proposed model can be a reasonable constitutive law to figure out the behavior of strain-softening between interfaces of geomembrane. In addition, DSC(Disturbed State Concept) model is also presented for further application in geosynthetic interfaces.
Purpose: Purpose of this study was to identify the effects on maternal role strain, maternal role confidence and maternal identity of a maternal role promotion program for mothers of premature infants. Method: A quasi-experimental non-equivalent pre-and-post test was used to compare the two groups. The data were collected from 62 mothers from September 10. 2003 to August 30, 2004 at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) located in S. city and K. city. The maternal role promotion program was provided three times during the period from two-three days after the baby's admission to 1 month after the baby's discharge. The instruments for measurement were the Perceived Role Difficulty & Steffensmeier Scale, Self Confidence Scale and Semantic Differential Scale. Data were analyzed by means of frequency, mean and SD, $x^2$-test and t-test. Results: There were significant differences in maternal role strain level between the experimental and control group (t=2.163, p=.035), in the maternal role confidence between the two groups(t=-5.645, p=.000) and in maternal identity between the two groups(t=-4.923, p=.000). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the maternal role promotion program had positive effects in decreasing maternal role strain levels and increasing maternal role confidence and maternal identity.

A method for the calculation of the combustion pressure of Kick-Motor was proposed, which is based on the circumferential direction strain on the cylinder of Kick-Motor. At first, polynomials which approximate the ratio of strain and Combustion Pressure during Combustion Time was calculated from ground firing tests. Then strain data during flight time was plugged into the polynomials to get Combustion Pressure of the Kick-Motor. Compared with the measured pressure data during flight the converted showed similar trend. Pressure difference between them was about 10psi.
Thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) behavior of heat resistant austenitic stainless steel was evaluated in the temperature range from 100$^{\circ}C$ to peak temperatures of 600 to 800$^{\circ}C$; The fatigue lives under TMF conditions were plotted against the plastic strain range and the dissipated energy per cycle. In the expression of the inelastic strain range versus fatigue life, the TMF data obtained at different temperature ranges were located close to a single line with a small deviation; however, when the dissipated energy per cycle, calculated from the area of the stress-strain hysteresis loops at the half of the fatigue life, was plotted against the fatigue life, the data showed greater scattering than the TMF life against the inelastic strain range. A noticeable stress relaxation in the stress-strain hysteresis curve took place at the peak temperatures higher than 700$^{\circ}C$, but all specimens in this study exhibited cyclic hardening behavior with TMF cycles. Recrystallization occurred during the TMF cycle concurrent with the formation of fine subgrains in the recrystallized region, which is considered to cause the cyclic hardening of the steel.
