  • In this study, the relation between the mtation which are usually caused by the creep of the contact wire, the bar geometry and the forces(wire tensions) for the triangle-shaped distribution bar and straight-shaped one in dependent tensioning device system is reviewed. According to the result a rotation of distribution bar in triangle-shaped one modifies the distribution of the tensions between the three wires hooked in a distribution bar. On the contrary, a rotation on the straight-shaped one leads to no tension distribution change. Therefore, to use the straight-shaped distribution bar instead of triangle-shaped one is recommended. In addition, the design contents of the distribution bar which will be used in electrification of Gyeongbu line are described in this paper.

  • In order to compare the development performance of headed reinforcing bar and straight reinforcing bar in tension for steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), pullout test of specimens with reinforcing bar which was anchored on simple beam perpendicularly was conducted. The experimental variables were steel fiber volume ratio ($V_{Rsf}$), concrete compressive strength, and existence of head. As the result of test, splitting failure of concrete in the development direction of reinforcing bar in most specimens was observed. For development detail of headed reinforcing deformation bar, specimens with 1% $V_{Rsf}$ showed approximately 63%~119% increase in pullout strength compare to specimens with 0% $V_{Rsf}$. Test result shows that SFRC is more effective in increasing pullout strength for headed reinforcing bars than increasing pullout strength of straight bars.

  • Statement of problem: Conventional techniques for implant framework fabrication produce significant error that is inconsistent with passive-fit requirement for osseointegrated implants. One of the etiologic factors which cause the errors is a sprue which may deform the framework during solidification and contraction. Purpose: This study was aimed to evaluate objectively effect of the sprue design on the accuracy of fit of implant prosthesis. Materials and method: Three different designs were considered relative to effect of casting accuracy. The first design had straight sprues and a button of excess alloy at the non-casting end of the sprues. The second was runner bar design(with the button). The last was straight sprues design(without the button). Gold cylinder and laboratory analogue had been used to diminish variables affecting to casting accuracy. Gold alloy and pressure-vacuum casting machine had been used. Marginal gap had been measured by SEM. One-way ANOVA and Duncan test had been used for statistical analysis. Results: The first design showed $79.87{\pm}13.95{\mu}m$ marginal gap. The second and third were $40.17{\pm}15.8{\mu}m$ and $35.17{\pm}9.95{\mu}m$ respectively. Conclusion: Straight sprues without button and runner bar designs were more accurate than straight sprues with button design(P<.05).

  • With the increase of the skyscraper center, the development of large-diameter and high-strength reinforcing bars is being carried out to solve the dense reinforcement. In case of the steel reinforced concrete with a small cross section such as beam-column joints, the development length becomes short when straight bars are used. Therefore, it is possible to solve the problem that the development length becomes short by using the bearing strength of the hooked bar and headed bar. In this study, the exterior beam-column joint test of SD700 hooked bar and headed bar with anchorage length of 20db was conducted to extend the development length limitation of hooked bar and headed bar. As a result of the evaluation of the anchorage strength using the design equation by KCI, the average of the [measured value]/[predicted value] ratio was 1.31 for the hooked reinforcing bars. In the case of headed bars, the average of the [measured value]/[predicted value] ratio was 1.12. In addition, in order to compare the anchorage performance of the hooked bar and the headed bar, the measured values were divided by the square root of the compressive strength of the concrete to compare the anchorage strength. Under the same conditions, the anchorage strength of headed bars was 8.5% higher than the hooked bars.

  • This paper proposes Headed bar as reinforcement of beam-column joint, and proves seismic performance and reduction of reinforcement congestion. In these case, the use of Headed bars have obvious advantages. The greatest benefit of using Headed bars is not only improved structural performance of beam-column joints, but also the ease of fabrication, construction, and placement. Three-dimensional finite element analysis model is compared with test program which was fulfilled by the proposed model with Headed bar. Also, the plastic hinge region is relocated to the center of the longitudinal beam length according to the strong column-weak beam design philosophy, so Headed bar is used as the joint reinforcement. Therefore, this paper presents results of a computer analysis of a practical solution for relocating potential beam plastic hinge regions by the placing of straight - Headed bar.

  • Because of the congestion problems, the high-strength reinforcements are expected to be used in nuclear power plant structures in the near future. According to ACI 349-13, it is permitted to use the high-strength(550MPa) straight bars in design of development length, but there is no special equation for high-strength bars. In order to reflect the anchorage capacity and behavior properties of high-strength straight bars with large-diameter(43 & 57mm), it is necessary to find the modified factor or develop the new development length equation for large-size and high-strength bars.

  • We use hydrodynamic simulations to study the physical properties of gaseous structures in barred galaxies and their relationships with the bar strength. We vary the bar mass fbar relative to the spheroidal component as well as its aspect ratio. We derive expressions for the bar strength Qb and the radius where the maximum bar torque occurs. When applied to observations, these expressions suggest that bars in real galaxies are most likely to have fbar = 0.25-0.5. Dust lanes approximately follow one of x1-orbits and tend to be more straight under a stronger and more elongated bar. A nuclear ring of a conventional x2 type forms only when the bar is not so massive or elongated. The radius of an x2-type ring is generally smaller than the inner Lindblad resonance, decreases systematically with increasing Qb, evidencing that the ring position is not determined by the resonance but by the bar strength. Nuclear spirals exist only when the ring is of the x2-type and sufficiently large in size. Unlike the other features, nuclear spirals are transient in that they start out as being tightly-wound and weak, and then due to the nonlinear effect unwind and become stronger until turning into shocks, with an unwinding rate higher for larger Qb.

  • Let $V \subset R^n$ be a convex homogeneous cone which does not contain straight lines, so that the automorphism group $$ G = Aut(R^n, V)^\circ = { g \in GL(R^n) $\mid$ gV = V}^\circ $$ ($\circ$ denoting the identity component) acts transitively on V. A convex cone V is called "self-dual" if V coincides with its dual $$ (1.1) V' = { x' \in R^n $\mid$ < x, x' > > 0 for all x \in \bar{V} - {0}} $$ where $\bar{V}$ denotes the closure of V.sure of V.

  • This paper conducts an evaluation of the structural performance of the lap splice detail of SD700 headed bar experiment for developing an RC beam with different depths joint details. The experiment variable is lap splice length, yield strength, and end anchorage of main reinforcements. For all specimens, a headed bar was applied to the main reinforcement of the beam with low depth (B2), and the beam with high depth (B1) was applied to the main reinforcement with two splice methods: straight headed bar and 90° hooked-headed bar. The experimental results were that specimens of applying SD500 and SD600 had the results of flexural fracture at the lap splice location, which maximum load was similar. For specimens of appling SD500, the 90° hooked-headed bar of B1, suppressed horizontal cracks in the lap splice section compared to the straight headed bar. Specimens of applying an SD 700 headed bar had the results of brittle anchorage failure. In addition, maximum load was increased with the lap splice length increasing. For specimens of applying SD700 headed bar, test for test maximum load/theoretical load for test development length/design development length were estimated to be 1.30~1.48 for the ACI 318-19 equation, and 1.14~1.30 for the KDS-2021 equation. Thus, ACI 318-19 equation had conservatively greater safety factors as estimated development lengththened.

  • This paper aims at investigating the effect of steel ratio and the magnitude of edge-ratio on the mechanical characteristics of reinforced concrete ring sector plate. The influence of steel bars was taken into account by coupling stiffness matrix of the steel bar element with that of the concrete plate element without dealing with separate element of steel bar and by establishing the composite stiffness matrix, which leads to the desirable result which does not increase th number of element could be obtained. Through case studies with 6 cases various steel ratios in ring sector plate supported at four edges and 4 cases with different open angles, the influence of the steel ratio was examined. A numerical analysis to find out the effect of the steel ratio d ue to above mentioned cases was carried out by 4 boundary conditions ; all edges clamped (B.C-1), all edges simply supported (B.C-2), curvilinear two edges clamped and other edges free (B.C-3) and curvilinear two edges simply supported and other edges free(B.C-4). The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The effect of steel ratio on the magnitude of lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment at the center of sector plate and the midpoint of outer and inner curvilinear edges is almost the same up to $30^{\circ}$ of open angle. Beyond $30^{\circ}$ of the angle, the larger the angle, the greater the effect of ratio. 2. In design works using balanced steel ratio, the effect of steel bar can be ignored. But for larger open angles, especially greater than $90^{\circ}$, it proves desirable to consider the effect of steel bar. 3. The effect of the arc length of center circle/straight edge on lateral deflection and bending moment is remarkable in B.C-2. For larger open angle, the effect is also noted except for B.C-3 which turn out hardly affected. 4. The effect of the radius of curvature/straight side length on lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment is noted in B.C-2. As open angle increases, B.C-1 and B.C-3 almost agree and B.C-2 approaches B.C-4.
