Statement of Problem: Recently, resin cements have become more widely used and have been accepted as prominent luting cements. Current resin cements exhibit less microleakage than conventional luting cements. However, the constant contact with water and exposure to occlusal forces increase microleakage even in resin cements inevitably. Most bonding resins have been modified to contain a hydrophilic resin such as 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) to overcome some of the problems associated with the hydrophobic nature of bonding resins. By virtue of these modifications, bonding resins absorb a significant amount of water, and there may also be significant stresses at bonding interfaces, which may adversely affect the longevity of restorations. Therefore the reinforcement of water stability of resin cement is indispensable in future study. Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the influence of water retention on microleakage of two resin cements over the period of 6 months. Materials and Methods: 32 extracted human teeth were used to test the microleakage of a single full veneer crown. Two resin cements with different components and adhesive properties - Panavia F (Kuraray Co., Osaka, Japan) and Super-Bond C&B (Sun Medical Co., Kyoto, Japan)- were investigated. The storage medium was the physiological saline solution changed every week for 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. One group was tested after storage for 1 day. At the end of the each storage period, all specimens were exposed to thermocycling from $5^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$ of 500 cycles and chewing simulation of 50,000 cycles, and then stained with 50% silver nitrate solution. The linear penetration of microleakage was measured using a stereoscopic microscope at ${\times}40$ magnification and a digital traveling micrometer with an accuracy of ${\pm}3{\mu}m$. Values were analyzed using two-way ANOVA test, Duncan's multiple range tests (DMRT). Results : Statistically significant difference of microleakage was shown in the 3-month group compared with the1-day or 1-month group in both systems (p<0.05) and there were statistically significant differences in microleakage between the 3-month group and the 6-month group in both systems (p<0.05). The two systems showed different tendency in the course of increased microleakage during 3 months. In Panavia F, microleakage increased slowly throughout the periods. In Super-Bond C&B, there was no significant increase of microleakage for 1 month, but there was statistically significant increase of microleakage for the next 2 months. For the mean microleakage for each period, in the 3-month group, microleakage of Super-Bond C&B was significantly greater than that of Panavia F. On the other hand, in the 6-month group, microleakage of Panavia F was significantly greater than that of Super-Bond C&B (p<0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitation of this study, water retention of two different bonding systems influence microleakage of resin cements. Further studies with the longer observation periods in viro are required in order to investigate water stability and the bonding durability of the resin cement. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS Microleakage at the Cement-tooth interfaces did not necessarily result in the failure of the crowns. But it is considered to be a major factor influening the longerity of restorations. Further clinical approaches for decreasing the amount of microleakage are required.

In order to improve the storage stability of spray and freeze dried red ginseng extract powder packed in a bottle, the water vapor permeability of Al-foil laminate paper used for cap closure and shelf life of those products on various storage temperatures and relative humidities were investigated. The thickness of the laminate paper was $93{\pm}3\:{\mu}m$ and its physical properties were equal to standard of ASTM (B-377-66) The absorption rate of the freeze dried powder was 2-6 times greater than that of the spray dried powder at $37^{\circ}C$. Therefore it was considered that the laminate could be used for cap closures for the spray dried powder but unsuitable for the freeze dried powder. The shelf life of the spray dried powder was longer than that of the freeze-dried powder at $37^{\circ}C$.
We propose a single Index approach for subsequence matching that supports moving average transform of arbitrary order in time-series databases. Using the single index approach, we can reduce both storage space overhead and index maintenance overhead. Moving average transform is known to reduce the effect of noise and has been used in many areas such as econometrics since it is useful in finding overall trends. However, the previous research results have a problem of occurring index overhead both in storage space and in update maintenance since tile methods build several indexes to support arbitrary orders. In this paper, we first propose the concept of poly-order moving average transform, which uses a set of order values rather than one order value, by extending the original definition of moving average transform. That is, the poly-order transform makes a set of transformed windows from each original window since it transforms each window not for just one order value but for a set of order values. We then present theorems to formally prove the correctness of the poly-order transform based subsequence matching methods. Moreover, we propose two different subsequence matching methods supporting moving average transform of arbitrary order by applying the poly-order transform to the previous subsequence matching methods. Experimental results show that, for all the cases, the proposed methods improve performance significantly over the sequential scan. For real stock data, the proposed methods improve average performance by 22.4${\~}$33.8 times over the sequential scan. And, when comparing with the cases of building each index for all moving average orders, the proposed methods reduce the storage space required for indexes significantly by sacrificing only a little performance degradation(when we use 7 orders, the methods reduce the space by up to 1/7.0 while the performance degradation is only $9\%{\~}42\%$ on the average). In addition to the superiority in performance, index space, and index maintenance, the proposed methods have an advantage of being generalized to many sorts of other transforms including moving average transform. Therefore, we believe that our work can be widely and practically used in many sort of transform based subsequence matching methods.
A microbial insecticide "Bt-Plus" has been developed to enhance an insecticidal efficacy of an entomopathogenic bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). However, its wettable powder formulation is not preferred by farmers and industry producers due to relatively high cost. This study aimed to develop a soluble concentrate formulation of Bt-Plus. To this end, an optimal mixture ratio of two bacterial culture broths was determined to be 5:4 (v/v) of Bt and Xenorhabdus nematophila (Xn) along with 10% ethanol preservative. In addition, Bt broth was concentrated by 10 times to apply the mixture at 1,000 times fold dilution. The resulting liquid formulation was sprayed on cabbage crop field infested by late instar larvae of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella. The field assay showed about 77% control efficacy at 7 days after treatment, which was comparable to those of current commercial biopesticides targeting P. xylostella. For storage test in both low and room temperatures, the liquid formation showed a relatively stable control efficacy at least for a month. To develop a quality control technique to exhibit a stable control efficacy of Bt-Plus, Bt spore density ($5{\times}10^{11}$ spores/mL) and eight active component concentrations of Xn bacterial metabolites in the formulation products have been proposed in this study.
This experiment was carried out to study the availability of Korean peat as a main carrier material of rhizobial inoculant, using the alfalfa strain Rhizobium meliloti M 14 which was isolated in the previous report. Modification of powdered peat with calcium carbonate and other materials was studied; inoculation of the peat with culture broth, maturation of the mixture under different conditions, and survival of the strain in the peat culture was examined. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Peat produced in Pyongtak was highly acidic, pH 3.8, and addition of calcium carbonate by 14% was required for pH adjustment to 6.4. However the amount of calcium carbonate could be reduced by 4 to 8% when carbon or charcoal was mixed with the peat. 2. Viable number of the strain reached to $7-9{\times}10^9cells/g$ after 3 days, when inoculated with the culture broth of early stationary growth phase and matured in unsteriled peat of open trays; and the number in steriled peat was $1.1-6.2{\times}10^{10}cells/g$ after 5 days, when matured in closed bottles. 3. Survival of the strain was affected markedly by storage temperature, and positive effect of D-sorbitol on the viability was recognized at elevated temperatures, when added as an additional carbon source and moistening agent. Glycerol, sorbitol, or sodium lactate was utilized by the strain as a sole source of carbon, and the decimal reduction time of viable number in the peat culture was was found to be 8 to 9 weeks at $25^{\circ}C$ when these agents were added by 0.5%.

Some ceramic artifacts representing time-wise from comb pattern pottery in the Neolithic Age to white porcelain in Joseon Dynasty were selected from 7 sites in the north and south area of Charyeong Mountain Range in order to making techniques interpretation and development process of ancient ceramics through physicochemical and mineralogical quantitative analysis. Studied pottery samples in the Prehistoric times showed trace of ring piling in soft-type, and pottery in the Three Kingdoms Period had both soft and hard-type but kettle-ware and storage-ware were made with ring piling, but table-ware was made by wheel spinning. Different from pottery after the Three Kingdom Period when refinement of source clay was high, pottery in the Neolithic Age and in the Bronze Age exhibited highly mineral content in sandy source clay, which showed a lot of larger temper than source clay. Groundmass of celadon and white porcelain almost did not reveal primary minerals but had high content of minerals by high temperature firing. Ceramic samples showed some different in major and minor elements according to sites irrespective of times. Geochemical behaviors are very similar indicating similar basic characteristics of source clay. However, loss-on-ignition showed 0.01 to 12.59wt.% range with a large deviation but it rapidly decreased moving from the Prehistoric times to the Three Kingdom Period. They have correlation with the weight loss due to firings, according to burning degree of source clay and detection of high temperature minerals, estimated firing temperatures are classified into 5 groups. Pottery in the Neolithic Age and in the Bronze Age belongs from 750 to $850^{\circ}C$ group; pottery in the Three Kingdom Period are variously found in 750 to $1,100^{\circ}C$ range of firing temperature; and it is believed celadon and white porcelain were baked in high temperature of 1,150 to $1,250^{\circ}C$. It seems difference between refinement of source clay and firing temperature based on production times resulted from change in raw material supply and firing method pursuant to development of production skill. However, there was difference in production methods even at the same period and it is thought that they were utilized according to use purpose and needs instead of evolved development simply to one direction.
The effect of physical parameters on water quality was analyzed using monitoring data of 193 agricultural reservoirs. The retention time of reservoirs ($t_d$) ranged between 10 and 140 days, and the ratio of drainage area (DA) to reservoir surface area (SA) was between 10 and 120. Both ratios of DA/SA and total area (TA)/ reservoir storage (ST) in Korean agricultural reservoirs were relatively greater than those in natural lakes in other countries. As retention time was plotted against DA/SA ratio, it was shorter in Korean reservoirs than natural lakes. The semi-logarithmic relationship between TA/SA and t>$t_d$ was $t_d\;=\;42.21(TA/ST)^{-1}$ (n = 50, $R^2\;=\;0.89$). While areal loading of total phosphorus (TP) was below $4\;gTP{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in general, it exceeded $10\;gTP{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in reservoirs where DA/SA ratio was greater than 100, which implies that areal loading of TP increases as DA/SA ratio increases. Chl-a concentration was positively related with the mean depth of reservoir, implying the higher Chl-a concentration with deeper the mean depth. Therefore, the deeper reservoir might be advantageous in water quality management perspective if other morphological conditions are similar. The empirical regression equation using physical parameters was also suggested in the estimation of TP concentration in the reservoirs. Combined information presented in this paper might be applicable to the water quality management in agricultural reservoirs.
The antimicrobial effects of two disinfectants commonly used in food industry on Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 15313 were studied. The two disinfectants tested were commercial benzalkonium chloride (BAC) and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). Their effects were studied on cells suspended in disinfectants (in vitro) and in the sponge model with the disinfectants (in vivo). When cells were exposed to $0\~0.1\%$ BAC and $0\~150\;ppm$ NaOCL for 20 minutes, BAC and NaOCl concentration more than $0.25\%$ and 100 ppm showed the antimicrobial effects respectively. This organism decreased rapidly during the first $0.5\~1$ minute followed by a slower decrease during the rest of the exposure time. Fifteen ml of cell solution $(about\;10^7\;CFU/ml\;in\;the\;TSB)$ was mixed with 15 ml of disinfectants in the sponge $(6.0{\times}4.0{\times}4.0cm)$, BAC and NaOCl concentration more than $0.1\%$ and 300 ppm showed the antimicrobial effects, and at $0.25\%$ and 800 ppm diminished in cell numbers 3-log cycles during the first 20 minutes. In the case of sponge model, 15 ml of cell solution and 15 ml of disinfectants $(0.25\%\;of\;BAC,\;800\;ppm\;of\;NaOCl)$ were suspended in the sponge during 20 minutes, washing with 200 ml of sterilized distilled water, and this sponge was transfered in the 100 ml TBS, and then incubated at various temperature. The cells were increased about 1-log cycle during 24 hrs at $5\~15^{\circ}C$. And the others temperature, the cells growth was in proporation to storage tepmerature and the cells were about $10^9\;CFU/ml$ after $1\~3$ days incubations.
Quality characteristics of curd yoghurt containing loquat extract were evaluated in terms of sensory properties and quality-keeping properties(number of viable cells, pH, titratable acidity). Curd yoghurts were prepared from $10\%(w/v)$ skim milk added with $10\~20\%(v/v)$ loquat extract and fermented by the mixed culture of Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus acidophilus(1:1) at $37^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours. The results of sensory evaluation of curd yoghurts indicated that flavor, sweet taste, sour taste, aftertaste and overall acceptability of the curd yoghurts with addition of loquat extract showed higher preference than a curd yoghurt with only skim milk. And the curd yoghurt containing $15\%$ loquat extract added $20\~25\%(w/v)$ oligosaccharide had the higher sensory scores in sweet taste, sour taste, aftertaste and overall acceptability among the treatments. When the curd yoghurts added with $15\%$ loquat extract were kept at $4^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$ for 31 days, the number of viable cell counts of the lactic acid bacteria were slightly higher than those in the curd yoghurt with no addition of loquat extract. And also the pH and titratable acidity of all yoghurts were not significantly changed during the storage at $4^{\circ}C$ for 31 days, while the pH and titratable acidity were remarkedly changed during the yoghurts stored at $20^{\circ}C$ for 31 days. The keeping quality of the curd yoghurts with addition of $15\%$ loquat extract was relatively good at $4^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ for 31 days.
This study was conducted to compare the quality of the pork from finishing pigs that were fed diets containing different levels of methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM). A total of 135 crossbred pigs $(Landrace{\times}Yorkshire{\times}Duroc)$ were fed either with a control commercial diet or the control diet supplemented with 300- and 500-ppm MSM for 158d. The pigs were slaughtered at approximately 110kg live weight and were transported to the local slaughterhouse for electrical stunning followed by exsanguination. After the slaughter, the pork muscles were dissected from each carcass, placed in wrap package bags, and stored for 8d at $4^{\circ}C$. The TEARS values of the pigs that were fed MSM diets were significantly lower (p<0.05) compared with those of the pigs that were fed with non-supplemented diets. The Na, Mg, and Ca contents of the dietary MSM were significantly lower (p<0.05) than those of the non-supplemented diets, but the Fe, Cu, and Zn contents of the dietary MSM were significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of the non-supplemented diets, and the increased level of MSM supplementation resulted in higher sulfur contents. There was no difference among the diets in terms of amino acid content. The dietary supplementation with MSM, however, led to increased saturated fatty acid and decreased unsaturated fatty acid (%) in the pork muscles (p<0.05). The sensory panelists recorded greater marbling and overall acceptability scores in the samples with 500-ppm-MSM dietary supplementation (p<0.05). These data suggest that supplementing pig diets with MSM can improve the quality of the pork and can enhance the eating quality because the sensory panels found that the pork from pigs that were fed an MSM-supplemented diet had better sensory characteristics.
