  • This paper proposes a new scheme to obtain enhanced 3D shape information rapidly for WLPSI(White Light Phase Shifting Interferometry). WLPSI is a convenient method to measure the height of the micro products. First we propose an effective method of limiting search interval for detecting the peak of the visibility function in order to obtain 3D shpae information rapidly. Second we propose an automatic base level decision method basad on image processing and a correction algorithm using the least square approximation method to overcome the global tilt problem of the conventional WLPSI algorithms. Third we propose an adaptive filtering method to remove the distortion known as bat-wing effect which appears near the step discontinuity. Experimental results show that the proposed overall technique is fast and provides more enhanced 3D shape information compared with the conventional WLPSI algorithms.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Korean traditional dance movement training on balance, gait and leg strength in elderly women who are forced to remain at home. Fifteen elderly women of an experimental group between the ages 65 and 75 years who have normal vision and passed the hearing and Romberg test, participated in the 12 weeks' dance movement training. Fourteen subjects of a control group were selected. Korean traditional dance movement training was developed on the basis of Korean traditional dance and music by the authors. It took approximately 50 minutes to perform the dance movement program. The subjects of the experimental group practiced dance training for 3 times a week during 12 weeks. During the 50 minutes workout, the subjects practiced 15 minutes of a warm-up dance, 25 minutes of a conditioning dance, and 10 minutes of a cool-down dance. The intensity for the conditioning phase was between 60% and 65% of age-adjusted maximum heart rates. The balance, gait and leg strength were measured prior to and after the experimental treatment. Total balance scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Scores of sternal nudge, one leg standing balance and reaching up among 13 items have significantly increased after the dance movement training. Total scores of gait of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group following the korean traditional dance movement training. Scores of experimental group in step height, path deviation and turning while walking among 9 items have increased significantly following 12 weeks of dance movement training. The leg strength of experimental group was significantly higher than those of the control group following the Korean traditional dance movement training. The balance, gait and leg strength have significantly correlated in the experimental group following the Korean traditional dance movement training. The results suggest that Korean traditional dance movement training can improve balance, gait and leg strength in home bound elderly women.

  • This work reports the pulse diagnosis system using FBG sensors which can display pulse signals detected while oriental medical doctors are conducting pulse diagnoses and simultaneously pressing the sensors by three fingers. Each optical fiber has five FBG sensing units fabricated in 2 mm width and 2 mm inter-sensor spacing. Three optical fibers with the FBG units in the parallel line configuration are then placed on each finger-pressing region and thus overall 9 fibers are used for the pulse measurements on the so-called "chon", "gwan", and "ch대k". A fixture holding the optical fiber arrays is able to adjust the height of the FBG sensing units while placing the fibers on the wrist. The pulse signals detected by the FBG sensors from chon, kwan, and chuk have been analyzed using 4 channel spectrum analyzer connected to the optical fibers. The measured pulse signals exhibit variations due to the nonuniform pressure distributions applied. resulting in the differences in the detected pulse signals between fiber lines. However. this work is the first step towards objective and quantitative analyses of the pulse diagnosis in oriental medicine which has traditionally been performed on subjective basis. Future works will be devoted to improving sensor stability, developing the way applying pressure and algorithms reporting the objective classification of the pulse status from systemic measurements using the sensors instead of relying on the clinicians' diagnoses subjectively performed. A successful pulse diagnosis system emerging in the future is expected to contribute to education as well as promoting pulse diagnosis in oriental medicine to the scientific research area.

  • In general, atomic force microscope (AFM) used for metrological purpose has measuring range less than a few hundred micrometers. We design and fabricate an AFM with long measuring range of $200mm{\times}200mm$ in X and Y axes. The whole stage system is composed of surface plate, global stage, microstage. By combining global stage and microstage, the fine and long movement can be provided. We measure the position of the stage and angular motions of the stage by laser interferometer. A piezoresistive type cantilever is used for compact and long term stability and a flexure structure with PZT and capacitive sensor is used for Z axis feedback control. Since the system is composed of various actuators and sensors, a real time control program is required for the implementation of AFM. Therefore, in this work, we designed a multi-axis control program using a FPGA module, which has various functions such as interferometer signal converting, PID control and data acquisition with triggering. The control program achieves a loop rate more than 500 kHz and will be applied for the measurement of grating pitch and step height.

  • This paper presents estimation of average compressive strengths of three types of stiffened panels under lateral pressure and axial compression based on simplified formulas from CSRs and nonlinear FEAs. FEA scenarios are prepared based on the slenderness ratios of the stiffened panels used for in-service vessels. The seven step lateral pressures by 1bar increment are imposed on FE models assuming maximum 30m water height. The number of FEAs for FB-, AB-, and TB-stiffened panels is totally 189 times. FEA results show that existence of pressure can evolves significant reduction of ultimate strengths, meanwhile CSR formulas do not take into account the lateral pressure effect. Lateral pressure acting on the stiffened panel with higher column slenderness ratio more reduces the ultimate strengths than those with smaller column slenderness ratio. A new concept of relative average compressive strain energy instead of the ultimate strength is introduced in order to rationally compare the average compressive strength through complete compressive straining regime. The differences of the ultimate strengths between CSR formulas and FEA results are relatively small for FB- and AB-stiffened panels, but larger discrepancies of relative average compressive strain energies are shown.

  • During plant development, active gibberellins (GAs) control many aspects of plant growth and development including seed germination, stem elongation, flower induction, anther development and seed growth. To understand the biosynthesis and functional role of active GAs in high plants, this study investigated GA 3$\beta$-hydroxylase gene en-coding $GA_1$ and$GA_4$ catalizing last step in GA biosynthetic pathway. The antisense GA 3$\beta$-hydroxylase gene was inserted into expression vector, pIG121-Hm. Calli derived from mature seeds of rice (Oryza satiiva L. cv. Donjinbyeo) were co-cultivated with Agrohacterium tumefaciens EHA101 earring a pIG121-Hm containing hygromycin resistance ($Hyg^r$) and antisense GA 3$\beta$-hydroxylase gene. Seventeen transgenic plants obtained inhibiting GA 3$\beta$-hydroxylase. Transgenic plants had shorter plant height more than that of the Dongjinbyeo. Stable integration of antisense GA 3$\beta$-hydroxylase gene was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction of genomic DNA isolated from the leaf organs of the $T_o$ generation.

  • We investigated uranium adsorption and adsorption process characteristics in brine water, changing column bed height packed with amidoximated polypropylene-g- acrylonitrile (AOPP-g-AN) fibrous ion-exchanger. Swelling ratios of AOPP-g-AN in fibrous ion-exchanger were 8.54g/g $H_2O_2$ and 8.87 g/g for $H_2O_2$ solvent respectively. Ion exchange capacity increased with degree of graft and showed the maximum, 3.99 meq/g at 100% degree of graft. In batch process, uranium adsorption had reached an initial equilibrium in 10 min with the adsorption rate of 9.5 mg/min. Finial adsorption capacity was 3.95 meq/g, and pH effect could not be observed. In continuous process, adsorption capacity depended on various packing ratios and showed the maximum, 3.92 meq/g at L/D=1. In L/D<2, breakthrough curve was shown two step by channeling flow and ununiform adsorption. Breakthrough time and adsorption capacity were 26 min and 3.63 meq/g, respectively, in brine water adsorption. When compared with actual brine water and model solution, there was no significant difference of adsorption characteristics.

  • A pose is an important component in the animation with timing and spacing. Pose is the key to describe the story-telling or how the animation behavior. Key animation method is Straight Ahead and pose to pose method. Many animaters have been using these two methods, or by a mix of two ways. It is possible that computer animation make a pose using interpolation between keyframes. The many animators of computer animation are using pose to pose in their work. It is depend on good and strong pose that make audience understand a story or a situation. This makes animators to be efficient of inefficient operation. In this study, according to the effective good pose to catch proposes four ways. There are four methods of making pose that are stretch and squash, the height of the character, the center of weight, step. The law of 12 kinds of Disney Animation is a good reference for the study.

  • The effect of DC bias on the growth of nanocrystalline diamond films on silicon substrate by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition has been studied varying the substrate temperature (400, 500, 600, and $700^{\circ}C$), deposition time (0.5, 1, and 2h), and bias voltage (-50, -100, -150, and -200 V) at the microwave power of 1.2 kW, working pressure of 110 torr, and gas ratio of Ar/1%$CH_4$. In the case of low negative bias voltages (-50 and -100 V), the diamond particles were observed to grow to thin film slower than the case without bias. Applying the moderate DC bias is believed to induce the bombardment of energetic carbon and argon ions on the substrate to result in etching the surfaces of growing diamond particles or film. In the case of higher negative voltages (-150 and -200 V), the growth rate of diamond film increased with the increasing DC bias. Applying the higher DC bias increased the number of nucleation sites, and, subsequently, enhanced the film growth rate. Under the -150 V bias, the height (h) of diamond films exhibited an $h=k{\sqrt{t}}$ relationship with deposition time (t), where the growth rate constant (k) showed an Arrhenius relationship with the activation energy of 7.19 kcal/mol. The rate determining step is believed to be the surface diffusion of activated carbon species, but the more subtle theoretical treatment is required for the more precise interpretation.

  • Cu CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization) has been used to remove copper film and obtain a planar surface which is essential for the semiconductor devices. Generally, it is known that chemical reaction is a dominant factor in Cu CMP comparing to Silicon dioxide CMP. Therefore, Cu CMP slurry has been regarded as an important factor in the entire process. This investigation focused on understanding the effect of corrosion inhibitor on copper surface and CMP results. Benzotriazole (BTA) was used as a corrosion inhibitor in this experiment. For the surface analysis, electrochemical characteristics of Cu was measured by a potentiostat and surface modification was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). As a result, corrosion potential (Ecorr) increased and nitrogen concentration ratio on the copper surface also increased with BTA concentration. These results indicate that BTA prevents Cu surface from corrosion and forms Cu-BTA layer on Cu surface. CMP results are also well matched with these results. Material removal rate (MRR) decreased with BTA concentration and static etch rate also showed same trend. Consequently, adjustment of BTA concentration can give us control of step height variation and furthermore, this can be applicable for Cu pattern CMP.
