박스형 강합성 교각의 내진 성능 평가를 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Seismic Behavior of Box Type Concrete-Filled Steel Piers)

  • The steel piers and the concrete-filled steel piers, in spite of reasonable strength, high ductility, small section, and fast construction, have not been considered as the alternatives to the RC piers even in the highly populated urban area where aseismic safety, limited space and fast construction are indispensably required. In this paper, a steel pier and 4 box type concrete-filled steel piers were tested with the quasi-static cyclic loading to estimate the ductility and the strength. Additional devices such as base rib, turn-buckle, and anchor bolted added at the to increase the ductility with minimum additional cost. The result showed that the concrete filled-in steel piers had higher energy absorbtion and strength than steel piers had, but also showed that slight overlooking in the design and fabrication could lead to the abrupt fracture just after small local buckling at the bottom.

  • A rockbolt is one of the most important reinforcement of on-site soil, as with the shotcrete and steel rib. The rockbolt by setting within the tunnel can prevent the deformation of the ground profile; furthermore it improves the structural behavior of soil and rock. In general, the rockbolt is mainly used with reinforced steel. However, steel pipe or the materials with the same strength can be used depending on the soil conditions, ground water outflow condition, and the surrounding of applying location. In Korea, most tunnel construction sites have used cement mortar or resin for steel reinforcement on the rock. Due to the ground water outflow in the construction site, the usability of steel reinforcement is poor and it requires curing time especially after installation. To improve exist above problems, this study introduces the development of a swelled steel pipe rockbolt, as well as presents the field testing and performance results.

Shear resistance characteristic and ductility of Y-type perfobond rib shear connector

  • This study evaluates behavior of the Y-type perfobond rib shear connector proposed by Kim et al. (2013). In addition, an empirical shear resistance formula is developed based on push-out tests. Various types of the proposed Y-type perfobond rib shear connectors are examined to evaluate the effects of design variables such as concrete strength, number of transverse rebars, and thickness of rib. It is verified that higher concrete strength increases shear resistance but decreases ductility. Placing transverse rebars significantly increases both the shear resistance and ductility. As the thickness of the ribs increases, the shear resistance increases but the ductility decreases. The experimental results indicate that a Y-type perfobond rib shear connector has higher shear resistance and ductility than the conventional stud shear connector. The effects of the end bearing resistance, resistance by transverse rebars, concrete dowel resistance by holes, and concrete dowel resistance by Y-shape ribs on the shear resistance are estimated empirically based on the push-out test results and the additional push-out test results by Kim et al. (2013). An empirical shear resistance formula is suggested to estimate the shear resistance of a Y-type perfobond shear connector for design purposes. The newly developed shear resistance formula is in reasonable agreement with the experimental results because the average ratio of measured shear resistance to estimated shear resistance is 1.024.

터널지보재로서 격자지보(Lattice Girder)의 현장적용성 평가 연구 (Evaluation of an applicability of lattice girders for the tunnel support)

  • Generally the NATM technique uses shotcrete, rock bolts, H-beam steel ribs, and concrete lining for the tunnel support in Korea. Among them, H-beam steel ribs are extremely heavy and difficult for workers to handle. Therefore, especially in Europe, lattice girders are being used instead of H-beam steel ribs for tunnel support. Lattice girders have basically the same function as H-beam steel ribs in tunnelling. The main advantages of using lattice girders compared to H-beam steel rib supports are as follows: 1) lattice girders have relatively a low weight enough to be easily lifted and installed by labors and 2) they create a more effective bond with the shotcrete. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of lattice girders compared to H-beam steel ribs used in construction tunnel sites and to show that lattice girders can be adequately applied in domestic tunnel construction sites as a new tunnel support system.

붕적층 지반에 적용된 터널에서 강재의 지보효과에 대한 연구 (Study on the Effect of the Bearing Capacity Support of tunnel by Steel Rib in the Colluvial Soils)

  • 최근 부각되고 있는 환경친화적인 설계의 결과로서 터널 입출구의 구조물이 연약한 지반(붕적층) 에 불가피하게 건설 되곤 한다. 그런 터널 공사의 경우, 주변 지반뿐만 아니라 라이닝 지보재의 충분한 지지력을 확보해야 한다. 이와 관련하여, 높은 강성을 갖는 H형 강지보재가 라이닝을 지지하기 위해 흔히 사용되었다. 그러나 수치해석에 의한 구조적인 안정성을 평가하는데 있어서 그 효과는 무시되는 젓이 관례였다. 본 연구에서는 붕적층에 적용된 터널에 대하여 강지보재로 사용된 H형강을 수치해석 모델에서 강성 적용을 0%, 50%, 75%, 100%로 반영하여 3차원 유한요소해석을 수행하였고, 각 강성 적용율에 따른 숏크리트 용력 감소효과를 비교 검토하였다. 수치해석으로부터 얻어진 데이터는 현장계측결과와 비교하였다, 연구 결과로부터 강지보재의 숏크리트에 대한 효과가 검증되었고 적절한 강성률은 50~75%의 범위 내에서 적절한 것으로 판단되었다.

  • In this study, a computer program was developed which generates automatically a drawing of the forging design in axisymmetric hot-forging of steel. The program designs a forging envelope from a machined part geometry according to forging design rules: parting line, draft angles, fillet and corner radii, minimum web and rib thicknesses. For the purpose of verification, the program was applied to a machined part from a factory. It was found that the generate forging design agreed well with the actual one used in the factory.

  • In the construction of mountain tunnels, reaction forces of the legs of steel arch supports against the ground are often expected to support the ground being excavated. In these cases, a stress concentration occurs in the ground directly under the support legs. If the bearing capacity of the ground is insufficient or displacement is not effectively constrained, the local failure of the ground under the support legs or settlement of the tunnel supports due to large deformation could result. It is therefore necessary to reinforce the support legs to reduce settlement. As a means of reducing settlement, wing-ribbed steel arch supports are well used. In this study, with the aim of finding a way to quickly reduce the settlement of steel arch support legs, effectiveness of a new type of wing ribs to reinforce steel arch supports was investigated through laboratory testing.

전단접합 및 리브 플레이트로 보강한 H형 보-기둥 접합부의 내진성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Seismic Performance of Shear Connections and Rib Plate H Beam to Column Connections)

  • 기존 강구조 모멘트연성골조시스템의 기둥-보 접합부는 노스리지 지진과 고베 지진시 충분한 내진성능을 발휘하지 못하고 접합부에서 취성파괴가 발생하였다. 본 논문은 기존 접합부의 형상을 변화하여 H형강보 웨브의 고장력볼트 전단접합과 H형 플랜지의 리브보강 유무를 변수로 한 실대형 실험을 실시하였다. 실험목적은 보웨브의 2면전단접합으로 고장력 볼트수 감소와 시공성 향상을 기대하며, 리브플레이트 보강을 통해 내진성능을 향상시키고자 한다. H형강 보웨브의 2면전단접합과 리브플레이트로 보강한 접합부 실험결과, 기존 접합부보다 초기강성, 에너지 소산능력 및 소성회전능력이 높게 나타났으며, 내력상승률 및 변형능력은 전단탭의 위치로 인해 인장측과 압축측이 다소 차이를 보이고 있으나 전체적으로 우수한 내진성능을 나타냈다. 그리고 모든 시험체가 층간변위비 4%, 총소성회능력 약 0.029rad이상 및 접합부 최대내력이 원단면보 전소성모멘트의 약 130% 이상을 상회하여 중급모멘트연성골조이상의 설계가 가능하리라 사료된다.

브레이스트 아치 리브의 면내 좌굴 및 극한강도 평가 (Evaluation of In-plane Buckling and Ultimate Strength for Braced Arch Ribs)

  • 본 연구에서는 원형 강관을 수직 브레이스로 연결한 아치 리브의 면내 좌굴강도 및 극한강도를 평가하기 위한 매개변수 해석 연구를 수행하였다. 브레이스트 아치 리브의 탄소성 거동은 하중의 재하 상태와 아치 곡률뿐만 아니라 일반 단일 아치 리브와 달리 강관리브와 브레이스 부재의 휨강성비, 브레이스의 배치 간격, 강관 리브의 배치간격 등에 영향을 받게 된다. 이러한 영향을 분석하기 위해 본 해석에서는 라이즈비, 리브와 브레이스의 단면2차모멘트비, 수직브레이스의 간격비, 지간 대비 상 하 리브의 간격비, 초기 제작오차 및 세장비 등을 매개변수로 하고 하중의 재하 상태는 등분포 고정하중에 대한 활하중의 비를 고려하였다. 이러한 매개변수에 대한 해석 결과로부터 브레이스트 아치 리브의 적정 형상을 제안하였다. 또한, 브레이스트 아치 리브의 극한강도 평가를 위한 대형 구조 실험을 수행하였으며, 실험 결과는 해석에 의한 결과와 비교적 일치하였다.

Experimental investigation of shear connector behaviour in composite beams with metal decking

  • Presented are experimental results from 24 full-scale push test specimens to study the behaviour of composite beams with trapezoidal profiled sheeting laid transverse to the beam axis. The tests use a single-sided horizontal push test setup and are divided into two series. First series contained shear loading only and the second had normal load besides shear load. Four parameters are studied: the effect of wire mesh position and number of its layers, placing a reinforcing bar at the bottom flange of the deck, normal load and its position, and shear stud layout. The results indicate that positioning mesh on top of the deck flange or 30 mm from top of the concrete slab does not affect the stud's strength and ductility. Thus, existing industry practice of locating the mesh at a nominal cover from top of the concrete slab and Eurocode 4 requirement of placing mesh 30 mm below the stud's head are both acceptable. Double mesh layer resulted in 17% increase in stud strength for push tests with single stud per rib. Placing a T16 bar at the bottom of the deck rib did not affect shear stud behaviour. The normal load resulted in 40% and 23% increase in stud strength for single and double studs per rib. Use of studs only in the middle three ribs out of five increased the strength by 23% compared to the layout with studs in first four ribs. Eurocode 4 and Johnson and Yuan equations predicted well the stud strength for single stud/rib tests without normal load, with estimations within 10% of the characteristic experimental load. These equations highly under-estimated the stud capacity, by about 40-50%, for tests with normal load. AISC 360-16 generally over-estimated the stud capacity, except for single stud/rib push tests with normal load. Nellinger equations precisely predicted the stud resistance for push tests with normal load, with ratio of experimental over predicted load as 0.99 and coefficient of variation of about 8%. But, Nellinger method over-estimated the stud capacity by about 20% in push tests with single studs without normal load.
